Put a Call on Hold While you are on a call, press Hold button (red button in lower right). To return to the call, press Hold again. Transfer a Call 1) While you are on a call, press Transfer. 2) Dial the number to which you want to transfer the call. 3) When you hear ringing, press Transfer, or wait for the recipient to answer, announce the call, press Transfer, and hang up. Make a Conference Call 1) Place or receive a call. Two parties are now on the call. 2) Press Conference. 3) Dial the third party, wait for that party to answer, and then press Conference again. hear you. (Music on Hold is not played.) Hold. Press the OK key (center of arrow keys), then press OK key again at the Modify Display option. Use the OK key to select Contrast or Backlight and then the Left or Right Arrow keys to adjust. Press the Save or Cancel options to end this operation, then press Back, and Back again, and Exit, to get to main display menu. Mute a Call During a call, press the Mute button. The backlight of the button comes on. You can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear you. To cancel, press the Mute button again. Forward Incoming Calls to Your Voice Mail Press FWD MAIL button, indicated by an icon with an arrow pointing to an envelope. The backlight of the button comes on; all incoming calls ring once and then go to your voice mail message box. To cancel this feature, press FWD MAIL again. Switch Your Telephone to Do Not Disturb To enable, press the button to the right of the LCD which corresponds to the DoNotDisturb feature. Press it again to disable Do Not Disturb. Park a Call and Retrieve a Parked Call 1) While you are on a call, press the Call Park button, or if Call Park is not assigned to an Access button, press the Action button and scroll with the down arrow key to Call Park option and then press the OK button (located in the center of the arrow keys). 2) Enter one of the extensions reserved for Call Park or press the Call Park button again to use the default Call Park extension. From Any External Telephone If you can dial your telephone extension directly: 1) Press * during your greeting. 2) At the prompts, enter your extension and password, and then press #. If you dial your organization s voicemail telephone number (815-921-6245): 1) At the prompts, enter your extension and press #. 2) Then enter your password, and press #. Functions of the 3Com 3502 IP phone buttons and controls Callout Button/Control Description 1 Soft buttons There are four soft buttons below the Display Panel. The bottom of the Display Panel shows the functions of the four soft buttons, which vary with the state of the telephone. You can choose different functions by pressing different soft buttons. 2 Message Waiting Indicator(MWI) The MWI LED lights up when there are unread messages in the voice mailbox, and blinks when an incoming call is present or in power save mode. 3 Display Panel The Display Panel displays the telephone state and call information. 4 Access buttons The 3502 telephone has six Access buttons. The button at the bottom is a page-switching button. The functions of the other five buttons are displayed on the Display Panel. Each time you press the button at the bottom which will never be illuminated, the Display Panel refreshes the functions of the other five buttons. The 3502 telephone supports three pages, which means you can set up to 15 Access buttons. To reprogram the function of an Access button, login in to the VCX User or Admin web interface. 5 Menu button Press the Menu button to enter the configuration menu of the telephone, or exit the menu and return to the standby interface. 6 Navigation buttons The navigation buttons include four direction buttons and one OK button. You can use the navigation buttons to perform such operations as select menu items in the configuration menu, adjust contrast/brightness, or switch between lines when multiple calls are present. In addition, the OK button can be used to put call on hold or unhold 7 Voicemail button Press this button to directly access the voice mailbox and listen to voice messages. 8 Call Transfer button Use this button to transfer calls. To transfer the current call to a third party, press the Call Transfer button, dial the number of the third party, and press the Call Transfer button again. Functionality of Transfer is also dependant on the type of transfer being performed, please refer to the VCX Admin Guide for details. 9 Conference button Use this button to establish a multi-party conference call. While on a call, press the Conference button, dial the number of the person you want to conference in, and then press the Conference button again to start a 3-party conference. 10 Redial button Press this button to redial the last telephone number that you called. 11 Hold button While on a call, you can press the Hold button to place the current call on hold. If the administrator has configured the Music on Hold (MOH) service, the held party hears music; if not, the held party hears silence. 12 MIC Activated when the telephone is in speaker phone mode. For best results, keep the area around the microphone free of obstructions. The microphone is directional; it performs best when you are directly in front of the telephone. 13 Number pad The number pad has twelve buttons: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, *, and #. Press the number buttons to enter the number of the person you want to call or for any other feature code or digit entry. 14 Headset switch button Press the headset switch button to switch between the handset and a headset. The backlight of the button is on when a headset is used. If you choose the headset mode, you need to speak through the headset after the call is put through. 15 Speaker button Press the Speaker button to use the speakerphone mode. In this mode, the button is illuminated, you can hear the party you are speaking to on the speaker, and speak through a microphone. 16 Forward to Voicemail button Press the Forward to Voicemail button to set the destination of call forwarding as your voice mailbox. Subsequent incoming calls will be directly forwarded to your voice mailbox after one ring. When the Forward to Voicemail function is enabled, the backlight of the Forward to Voicemail button is on. 17 Down volume button Press this button to lower the volume of the ring while your telephone is not in use, lower the voices of you and the other party while you are talking through the handset and headset, or lower the volume of the speaker while in speakerphone mode. 18 Mute button While on a call, you can press the Mute button to prevent the party you are speaking to from hearing you. When the telephone is muted, the backlight of the Mute button is turned on. 19 Up volume button Press this button to raise the volume of the ring while your telephone is not in use, raise the voices of you and the other party while you are talking through the handset and headset, or raise the volume of the speaker while in speakerphone mode.
