We recently merged City College Coventry and Henley College Coventry to make the new Coventry College. Between us we have been delivering learning and training to employers, young people and adults in Coventry since 1828 from our early origins as the Mechanics Institute. We benefit from modern facilities at both our campuses. Our City Centre Campus has benefitted from recent improvements to our facilities including an Innovation Hub to host our digital courses. SOFTWARE & WEB DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN LEVEL 3 SOFTWARE DEVELOPER LEVEL 4.............. DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP CPD PARTNERSHIPS PEOPLE COMMITTMENT We benefit from being part of the Fujitsu Ambassador Programme supported by Intel and Brocade. We employ 600 staff including teachers, trainers and assessors who are skilled in their trade or professional field of delivery. All our staff are qualified and complete regular staff training and professional updating as part of their professional development programme. Training is our business. There are two stages to assessment: = Gateway - To move to the end point assessment you ll need to complete the knowledge modules / vendor qualifications, show evidence of the revelent behaviours and have achieved maths and english at Level 2. = End point assessment 5 This is a 5-day assessment where you complete a pre-defined project. It will be conducted at the college in a controlled environment SUMMATIVE PORTFOLIO This is evidence against the standards of the knowledge, competence and behaviours shown through real projects in the workplace EMPLOYER REFERENCE You ll need a written statement from your employer including their views on how you have performed in the workplace and how you have applied your knowledge, competencies and behaviours across the projects. INTERVIEW This will be carried out by an independent assessor where they will explore in more detail the evidence you have gathered through your projects and qualifications. NETWORKING HIGHER APPRENTICESHIP LEVEL 4 You ll learn how to install, maintain and support communications networks. As part of this you will learn how to configure networks, cloud technology, network administration and how to give technical advice to teams. Individual employers will set the selection criteria but typically, you will need a Level 3 qualification either an apprenticeship, a diploma or A levels or other relevant qualifications. You will need relevant experience in a related job role and a good level of functional maths. Network Technician, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Administrator. QUALIFICATIONS GAINED = Vendor qualification = Knowledge principles for network engineers Level 4 / Cisco CCNA 1 & 2 = Network Systems and Architecture Level 4 = Network Security Level 4 You will also complete the underpinning knowledge for CCNA part 1, MCSA Server 2012 and MSCA cloud services enabling you to take the professional accreditation exams. KNOWLEDGE MODULES Vendor / professional qualifications NETWORK PRINCIPLES L4 CCNA 1 & 2 Network + The programme is delivered using a blended approach. There are three core modules that you will undertake each will have a period of classroom learning and a set of on-line learning resources that you will need to work through prior to attending. The classroom learning will require successful achievement of on on-line test at the end of the week s study. You will need to spend 8 weeks in college across the programme including delivery, preparation for assessment and end point assessment. For each module you will attend training at the College. Where you require English or maths qualifications we will agree a flexible package of support that works for you. In addition to completing and achieving the knowledge based qualifications you will prepare a summative portfolio comprising elements of your substantive projects plus a synoptic project. You ll also need your employers endorsement in the form of a reference and you will complete a final assessment interview panel with external assessors who will assess your final project, summative portfolio and grade you following the interview. The duration is typically 18-24 months but will depend on experience. INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP LEVEL 3 You ll learn how to support internal and external customers effectively by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non routine problems. You ll be able to set up users, provide support to users and fix issues to maintain an organisations productivity. Individual employers will set the selection criteria but typically, you will need a level 2 qualifications either an apprenticeship, five grade GCSEs at 4 or above (C or above in the old grade structure) including maths and English or other relevant qualifications or experience. Help Desk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician and Network Support. In addition to completing and achieving the knowledge based qualification you will prepare a summative portfolio comprising elements of your substantive projects plus a synoptic project. You ll also need your employer s endorsement in the form of a reference and you will complete a final assessment interview panel with external assessors who will assess your final project, summative portfolio and grade you following the interview. The final assessment will require a week at college in an assessment centre and prior to that a week s intensive preparation. The training duration will be circa 18 months. Telecommunications technician, Unified Communications technician, Telecommunications Operative. QUALIFICATIONS GAINED = Level 3 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles. The programme is delivered using a blended approach. There are five core modules that you will undertake each will have a period of classroom learning and a set of on-line learning resources that you will need to work through prior to attending. The classroom learning will require successful achievement of on on-line test at the end of the week s study. You will need to spend 8 weeks at college over the period of your apprenticeship. There will be up to 8 weeks at college over the course of the apprenticeship including end point assessment. UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS TROUBLE-SHOOTER APPRENTICESHIP LEVEL 4 You ll learn how to configure and troubleshoot voice solutions including hardware and software failures. You ll learn how to install, configure and troubleshoot Data solutions including switches and access points, line faults and internet speed problems. You ll also learn how to maintain a domain service including assigning services, deploying software and applying updates, configure and maintains a network including selecting appropriate network components and applying networking fundamentals. Additionally you ll understand how to configure and maintain security principles covering software, access, encryption and auditing. GCSE Grade 4 or better (or A-C in the old grade structure), including English and maths. Unified Communications Desk Engineer, Unified Communications Field Engineer, Data Field Engineer, Voice Field Engineer, Microsoft Support Field Engineer and Microsoft Consultant. QUALIFICATIONS GAINED = Security Principles / MTA Mobility and Devices Fundamentals = Network Services / Cisco CCNA 1 & 2 = Voice and Data Solutions The programme is delivered using a blended approach. There are four core modules that you will undertake each will have a period of classroom learning and a set of on-line learning resources that you will need to work through prior to attending. The classroom learning will require successful achievement of on on-line test at the end of the week s study. SOFTWARE & WEB DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN (C#) LEVEL 3 A Software & Web Development Technician (C#) typically works as part of a software development team, to build simple software components (whether web, mobile or desktop applications) to be used by other members of the team as part of larger software development projects. They will interpret simple design requirements for discrete components of the project under supervision. The approach will typically include implementing code, which other team members have developed, to produce the required component. The Software Development Technician will also be engaged in testing that the specific component meets its intended functionality Individual employers will set the selection criteria but typically, you will need a level 2 qualifications - either an apprenticeship, five grade GCSEs 4 or above or A-C in the old grade structure including maths and English or other relevant qualifications or experience. Software Development Technician, Junior Developer, Junior Web Developer, Junior Application Developer, Junior Mobile App Developer, Junior Games Developer, Junior Software Developer, Junior Application Support Analyst, Junior Programmer, Assistant Programmer and Automated Test Developer. QUALIFICATIONS GAINED = BCS Level 3 Certificate in Software Development Context & Methodologies = BCS Level 3 Certificate in Programming KNOWLEDGE MODULES LEVEL 3 SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ADVANCED HTML 5.0 and CSS3 CONTEXT AND METHODOLOGIES LEVEL 3 PROGRAMMING DIPLOMA IN TECH FUNDAMENTALS (PROGRAMMING) or MTA Software Development Fundamentals The programme is delivered using a blended approach. There are two core modules that you will undertake each will have a period of classroom learning and a set of on-line learning resources that you will need to work through prior to attending. Understand and explore the different features of C#, the application of each, syntax and the various operators within C#. Introduce the Visual Studio Suite as the tool of choice for editing code. The classroom learning will require successful achievement of on on-line test at the end of the week's study. You will need to spend 8 weeks at college over the period of your apprenticeship. ACCOMMODATION AND TRAVEL All our courses require block weeks of training on site in Coventry. For any apprentices under the age of 18 staying in Coventry we place with one of our fully vetted host families. Alongside this we can arrange the supply of a weekly bus pass to enable transport around Coventry. Apprentices over the age of 18 can book host family accommodation or can arrange their own accommodation. We have a range of suggested options we can provide you with on request.
