Overview 1 Overview As of February 2016, GoldSim Technology Group transitioned to a new software licensing system based on Flexera s FlexNet Publisher technology. Going forward, all future GoldSim product versions require a FlexNet-based license. In addition, full support of the new licensing system is added to the following existing GoldSim products: GoldSim 10.5 (starting with Service Pack 6), GoldSim 11 (starting with Update 8), GoldSim 11.1 (starting with Update 4). The following information applies to all FlexNet-based GoldSim products. The GoldSim License Portal 1 enables you to view information about all Flexera enabled licenses within your organization from a web interface. At the top of the Portal, you will see 3 main menu options: 1. License Activation: View activatable entitlements (licenses that are available for activation) 2. License Support: View fulfilled licenses (currently in-use) 3. Users & Orgs: View portal users and administrators in your organization There are 2 types of people that will use the portal: Portal Users Portal Administrators Portal users have the ability to view activatable entitlements and fulfilled licenses for the entire organization. A user can determine what licenses might be available for activation and copy the activation ID to activate a license on their machine. A user can also determine what computer an in-use license is currently fulfilled on from this site. Portal administrators have the additional capability of viewing, creating, and managing all other portal users and administrators within the organization. Administrator(s) are designated within your organization as someone that manages the licenses. In addition to viewing license information, portal users and administrators can perform offline activations and returns in the rare chance that the machine using the license doesn't have internet access. In order to enter the portal, you need to obtain login credentials from your portal administrator. When you first login to the site, you will see the list of "Activatable Entitlements" in your organization, which 1 URL: http://goldsim.com/licenseportal GoldSim License Portal 1

Portal Login are just the licenses that are ready to be activated. If you don't see any items listed on this page, it means all of your licenses have already been activated. In order to see a list of in-use licenses, click on the "License Support" menu option and select "Licenses". To return to the list of activatable licenses, click on the "License Activation" menu and select "Activatable Entitlements". 2 Portal Login There are 2 different ways to log in to the GoldSim License Portal: User name and password License Activation ID You must be registered or have a valid Activation ID to login to the GoldSim License Portal. Your portal administrator will provide this for you. This article walks you through the process of logging into the portal with either a user name or Activation ID. For an overview of the GoldSim License Portal, go here. If you log in using an activation ID, then you will only have access to view information about that activation and will not be able to see any other license used in your organization. On the other hand, if you choose to login with a user name and password, you will be able to view all the licenses in your organization. GoldSim License Portal 2

Portal Login 2.1 Login Using Activation ID To login to the GoldSim License Portal with an Activation ID, you must have a valid Activation ID for the license you wish to view. The Activation ID can be copied to the clipboard from withing the license manager of the GoldSim application. 1. Once you have the ID copied to the clipboard, go to the GoldSim License Portal and you will see the login screen. 2. Choose "With Activation ID" and paste in the activation ID as shown. Click "Log in" 3. Once you are logged in to the portal, you will see the activation ID in the upper right corner of the window as seen below. This indicates that you have successfully logged in. 4. A listing of this license will appear in 1 of 2 places depending on whether the license has been fulfilled. If the license hasn't yet been fulfilled, you will see the license immediately under "Activatable Entitlements". Note this is only the license associated with this activation ID and not all licenses in your organization. GoldSim License Portal 3

Portal Login 5. However, if the license has already been fulfilled (activated on a machine), it will not show up here. Instead, you will need to click on the "License Support" menu and select "List Licenses" to view it. 2.2 Registration with User Name and Password Once your account has been setup by your administrator, an email will be sent to you with a link to enter the portal and change your password. Below are steps to complete the user registration and login. 1. Click on the link in the email sent from fno@flexerasoftware.com 2. Copy the temporary password from the email to your clipboard. 3. Paste the temporary password into the "Old Password" field and enter a new password along with an answer to your security question. Click "Continue". GoldSim License Portal 4

Portal Login 4. Now you will see the "Activatable Entitlements" page with a listing of any activatable licenses (if any exist) for your organization. 5. You can also view/change at your profile by clicking on the drop list on your user name shown in the upper right corner of the window. GoldSim License Portal 5

Find an Available License to Activate 6. All the fields in the "Edit User Profile" page can be edited except for the email, Organization, and Shared Login checkbox. Also, do not edit the MAX_CONTACT_NO. 3 Find an Available License to Activate This section describes how to use the GoldSim License Portal to check for available (activatable) licenses in an organization. For an overview of the GoldSim License Portal, go here. In the License Portal, available licenses are referred to as Activatable Entitlements. These are licenses that are not currently activated on a machine. If your organization has a license administrator that manages GoldSim licenses, be sure to check with your administrator before activating a license on your machine. GoldSim License Portal 6

Find an Available License to Activate It is assumed that you already have a GoldSim License Portal user account. If this is not the case, you should contact your license administrator and ask for a new user account to be set up for you. Alternatively, if you have an activation ID and you simply want to check if it is available for use, you can login to the License Portal with the activation ID. Note, however, that you will only be able to see the status for this one license. Assuming that you already have a GoldSim License Portal user account, open a browser window and navigate to the License Portal login page: http://goldsim.com/licenseportal/. After successful login, you should see the main page of the GoldSim License Portal with a list of Activatable Entitlements. GoldSim License Portal 7

Find an Available License to Activate If you do not see this page, or you are on a different page in the License Portal, you can always navigate to the Activatable Entitlements page by clicking the License Activation menu and selecting Activatable Entitlements. Each line item on the Activatable Entitlements page shows the Activation ID, Product name, license Version and license Expiration date for a license that is available for activation. Refer to the Product name to see what modules a license has. GoldSim License Portal 8

Find an Available License to Activate Once you have found a license for an appropriate GoldSim Product and Version (and confirmed, if necessary, with a license administrator that it is okay to use the license), highlight and copy (Ctrl+C) the Activation ID. Then you can launch GoldSim, click the Activate Standalone License button and paste (Ctrl+V) your Activation ID into the License Activation dialog (note that if you are activating a Network license, you will need to use the GoldSim License Server Activation Utility, GLSActUtil). GoldSim License Portal 9

Check If a Licenses Has Been Fulfilled 4 Check If a Licenses Has Been Fulfilled This section describes how to use the GoldSim License Portal to see which licenses in your organization have been fulfilled and who is using them. For an overview of the GoldSim License Portal, go here. It is assumed that you already have a GoldSim License Portal user account. If this is not the case, you should contact your license administrator and ask for a new user account to be set up for you. Alternatively, if you have an activation ID and you want to check if it is available for use, you can login to the License Portal with the activation ID. Note, however, that you will only be able to see the status for this one license. Assuming that you already have a GoldSim License Portal user account, open a browser window and navigate to the License Portal login page 2. 2 URL: http://goldsim.com/licenseportal/ GoldSim License Portal 10

Check If a Licenses Has Been Fulfilled After successful login, you should see the main page of the GoldSim License Portal which has a list of Activatable Entitlements (see Find an Available License to Activate for more information about Activatable Entitlements). To see a list of all licenses that are currently fulfilled (in other words, licenses that are currently activated on a machine), click the License Support menu and select List Licenses. Selecting List Licenses will take you to a License Activation page that shows a list of all activated licenses for your organization. Each line item on the License Activation page shows a Fulfillment ID and the Activation ID for the license. A Fulfillment ID is generated when a license is activated on a machine. Other information you see for each license on the License Activation page includes the Product name, license Version, the date on which the license was activated (Fulfill date) and the license Expiration date. To see more information about the license, including the name of the machine on which the license was activated, click the Fulfillment ID for the license of interest. In the new window that appears, scroll all GoldSim License Portal 11

Add a New Portal User/Administrator the way to the bottom. The COMPUTER_HOST_NAME is the name of the computer on which the license was activated. 5 Add a New Portal User/Administrator This article walks you through the process of adding a new portal user or portal administrator to the portal. For an overview of the GoldSim License Portal, go here. You need to be a portal administrator to perform these steps. To create a new portal administrator, follow these steps: 1. Login to the GoldSim License Portal 2. Click on the Users & Orgs tab and select List Users GoldSim License Portal 12

If the user already exists and you just need to edit the user, just click on the user's name to edit/view. Otherwise, continue to the next step to create a new user. 4. Click Actions and select Create. 5. You will see the Create User page with fields to be filled out. Fill out the fields as per the following: a. If you check the box for Portal User Role, then the user will not be able to see information about other users in your organization but they will still be able to see the licenses and entitlements. c. You should not select both roles. d. Once you ve made your selection, click OK. 8. Now you will see confirmation that the user has been created successfully and the company and user role is displayed at the bottom of the page. Click Save to save the settings. GoldSim License Portal 15

Add a New Portal User/Administrator 9. Click on Users & Orgs then select List Users to see this new user in the list. 10. You should now see them added to your list. At the time of creation, the new admin/user will receive an email with a link and password for initial login. They will be prompted to change their password when they click this link. GoldSim License Portal 16

Perform an Offline Activation 6 Perform an Offline Activation This article describes how to use the GoldSim License Portal to perform an offline activation of a license. For an overview of the GoldSim License Portal, go here. An offline activation - or what is called a Trusted Activation in the License Portal - allows you to activate GoldSim on a machine that does not have internet access. To do this, though, you will need to have some way of transferring a file from the machine where you are activating GoldSim to another machine that has internet access. The first step in an offline activation is to open GoldSim on the machine where you want to activate it. If there are no active licenses, you will be presented with the following GoldSim Licensing welcome screen. Click on the 'Open License Manager' button to open the GoldSim License Manager. If you currently have a valid standalone or network license, then first open GoldSim and then open the GoldSim License Manager by going to the Help menu and clicking on 'Licensing...'. You should now see the GoldSim License Manager. Hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and click the 'Activate...' button. In the drop-list that appears, select 'Initiate offline Activation...'. GoldSim License Portal 17

Perform an Offline Activation When you click on 'Initiate offline Activation...', you will see a message dialog that describes the steps to carry out for an offline activation. Click Yes, enter your Activation ID in the dialog that appears and then click 'Activate'. When you click 'Activate', you will be prompted to save an ActivateRequest.xml file. Save the file to a location where you will easily be able to find it. Then, transfer the file to a machine that has internet access and open a browser window on that machine. Navigate to the License Portal login page: http://goldsim.com/licenseportal/. GoldSim License Portal 18

Perform an Offline Activation If you have a GoldSim License Portal user account, login with your username and password. Alternatively, if you do not have a License Portal user account, click the 'With Activation ID' radio button, enter your Activation ID and click 'Login'. After successful login, you should see the main page of the GoldSim License Portal. Click on the 'License Activation' menu and then click on 'Trusted Activation'. In the next screen, click the 'Choose File' button and upload the ActivateRequest.xml file that you generated previously. You should have transferred this file from the machine where you are activating GoldSim to the machine where you are logged into the License Portal. GoldSim License Portal 19

Perform an Offline Activation After you have uploaded the ActivateRequest.xml file, click 'Submit'. Then, in the next screen, click the 'Save' button to save a responsexml.xml file. Be sure to save this file to a location where you will easily be able to find it. You will need to transfer this file back to the machine where you are activating GoldSim. After transferring the responsexml.xml file to the machine where you are activating GoldSim, launch GoldSim and open the License Manager as described above. Again, hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and click the 'Activate...' button. This time, however, select the option to 'Process offline Response...'. GoldSim License Portal 20

Perform an Offline Activation Navigate to the folder location of the responsexml.xml file, select the file and then click 'Open'. You should see a message dialog saying that GoldSim successfully processed the offline XML response file. In the GoldSim Licensing dialog, you should now see the Fulfillment Details for your license. You have successfully completed an offline Activation. GoldSim License Portal 21

Perform an Offline Return 7 Perform an Offline Return This article describes how to use the GoldSim License Portal to perform an offline return of a license. For an overview of the GoldSim License Portal, go here. An offline return - or what is called a Manual Return in the License Portal - allows you to return (i.e. deactivate) a GoldSim license on a machine that does not have internet access. To do this, though, you will need to have some way of transferring a file from the machine where you are returning the license to another machine that has internet access. The first step in an offline return is to open GoldSim on the machine where you want to return a license. After opening GoldSim, open the GoldSim License Manager by going to the Help menu and clicking on 'Licensing...'. You should now see the GoldSim License Manager. Hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and click the 'Return...' button. In the drop-list that appears, select 'Initiate offline Return...'. When you click on 'Initiate offline Return...', you will see a message dialog that describes the steps to carry out for an offline return. When you click 'Yes', you will be prompted to save a ReturnRequest.xml file. Save the file to a location where you will easily be able to find it. After saving the ReturnRequest.xml file, note when you return to the Licensing Manager that the license has been disabled. The license is no longer usable and you must carry out the remaining steps in the offline return to completely remove the disabled license from your machine. GoldSim License Portal 22

Perform an Offline Return After you have generated the ReturnRequest.xml file, transfer it to a machine that has internet access and open a browser window on that machine. Navigate to the License Portal login page: http://goldsim.com/licenseportal/. If you have a GoldSim License Portal user account, login with your username and password. Alternatively, if you do not have a License Portal user account, click the 'With Activation ID' radio button, enter your Activation ID and click 'Login'. After successful login, you should see the main page of the GoldSim License Portal. Click on the 'License Support' menu and then click on 'Manual Return'. GoldSim License Portal 23

Perform an Offline Return In the next screen, click the 'Choose File' button and upload the ReturnRequest.xml file that you generated previously. You should have transferred this file from the machine where you are returning (i.e. deactivating) a GoldSim license to the machine where you are logged into the License Portal. After you have uploaded the ReturnRequest.xml file, click 'Submit'. Then, in the next screen, click the 'Save To File' button to save a responsexml.xml file. Be sure to save this file to a location where you will easily be able to find it. You will need to transfer this file back to the machine where you are returning a GoldSim license. GoldSim License Portal 24

Perform an Offline Return After transferring the responsexml.xml file to the machine where you are returning a GoldSim license, launch GoldSim and open the License Manager as described above. Again, hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and click the 'Return...' button. This time, however, select the option to 'Process offline Response...'. GoldSim License Portal 25

Perform an Offline Return Navigate to the folder location of the responsexml.xml file, select the file and then click 'Open'. You should see a message dialog saying that GoldSim successfully processed the offline XML response file. In the GoldSim Licensing dialog, you should see that Fulfillment Details for your license have been removed. You have successfully completed the offline Return. GoldSim License Portal 26
