INTRODUCTION The Westmont Warriors visual identity personifies the attitude and attributes of everyone involved with Westmont Athletics. Pride, integrity and strength are just a few of the characteristics necessary to achieve success on and off the field. The Westmont Athletics identity system was specifically designed to represent these defining qualities. Westmont s communication strategy begins with consistent application of the visual identity system. This guide provides all the information necessary to ensure accuracy and consistency in all applications of the logo system. WHO ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR? All persons affiliated with Westmont College who wish to use the athletics logos must follow these guidelines. Outside agencies or publishers are also required to follow the guidelines when using the athletics logos. THE LOGOS The Westmont Athletics visual identity includes the primary logo, monogram logo, and wordmark. These three marks allow for flexibility in different media. The athletics identity system is intended to be complimentary to Westmont College s academic logo. Many elements from the academic logo, including color palette and shield shape, have been incorporated to ensure consistency across all collegiate communications. PRIMARY LOGO MONOGRAM LOGO WORDMARK ACADEMIC LOGO The logos and typography contained herein are to be used solely for athletics affiliated communications. All other collegiate communications should use the academic logo.

PRIMARY LOGO ABOUT THE LOGO The primary logo is provided in four different configurations to accommodate a variety of applications. These configurations are labeled within the guide as PRIMARY LOGO A, PRIMARY LOGO B, PRIMARY LOGO C, and PRIMARY LOGO D. These logos may be sized according to use, but should never be disproportionately stretched. PRIMARY LOGO A This logo is the preferred choice for all athletics applications. PRIMARY LOGO B This logo is a replacement for PRIMARY LOGO A for applications that require a simpler logo in a vertical orientation such as stationery. PRIMARY LOGO C This logo is a replacement for PRIMARY LOGO A for applications that require a simpler logo in a horizontal orientation such as stationery. PRIMARY LOGO D This logo may never be used by itself. It is intended to be used in conjunction with other visual elements that clearly identify Westmont College. For example, PRIMARY LOGO D could be used on the shorts of a basketball uniform if the top of the uniform uses the WORDMARK. 5

These variations are provided to accommodate a wide variety of applications from offset printing to embroidery. FULL COLOR This is the preferred color choice. Use the full color logos whenever possible. TWO COLOR These logos replace the gold with a screen of black and can be used for applications that require limited color. BLACK & WHITE SCREENED These logos use black and a screen of black and are for use in grayscale applications such as interoffice communications and facsimiles. ONE COLOR These logos are to be used in limited color situations such as newspaper ads. These logos may be recolored with Westmont Crimson or Westmont Gold. A NOTE ON FILE FORMATS JPEG is a pixel-based format best suited for on screen applications such as websites or PowerPoint presentations. JPEG images can be reduced without much loss in quality, but they do not enlarge well. Adobe Illustrator files (AI) are vector based images, and can be reduced or enlarged without loss of quality. AI files are the preferred choice for all print applications such as programs, posters, or signs. 6

MONOGRAM LOGO ABOUT THE LOGO The monogram logo is provided in four different configurations to accommodate a variety of applications. These configurations are labeled within the guide as MONOGRAM LOGO A, MONOGRAM LOGO B, MONOGRAM LOGO C, and MONOGRAM LOGO D. WORDMARK ABOUT THE WORDMARK The wordmark is intended to be used as an addition to either the primary or monogram logo. The wordmark may be sized according to use, but should never be disproportionately stretched. ABOUT COLOR The wordmark has four color variations. ADDITIONAL TYPOGRAPHY ELEMENTS In addition to the wordmark, assets for WESTMONT, WARRIORS, and KAMMERER COURT have been provided in this guide. These assets are to be used in addition to the logos and wordmark. WM_WESTMONT_FC WM_WARRIORS_FC WM_K AMMERER_FC 17

LOGO USAGE RULES ABOUT THE RULES The logos and wordmark provided in this guide are intended to be used as is. The variety of configurations and color options should accommodate all usage needs. On this page you will find a few helpful rules for using the logos correctly. DO NOT PRINT INSIDE ANOTHER SHAPE The logos and wordmark may be printed on solid colors, but should never be contained by another shape. DO NOT RECOLOR The logos and wordmark should never be reproduced in colors that are not in the Westmont Athletics color palette. The one color logos, which are included in black only, may be recolored with Westmont Crimson or Gold. USE APPROPRIATE LOGO FOR SIZE Although the primary logo is the preferred logo, it may not always be the best choice for small-scale applications. Simplified versions of the logo have been provided for these situations. 18

LOGO USAGE RULES DO NOT ALTER The logos and wordmark should not be angled, outlined, stylized, or distorted in any way. DO NOT PRINT ON DISTRACTING BACKGROUNDS The logos and wordmark should never be reproduced on backgrounds that are distracting, clashing, or overpowering. DO NOT CHANGE LOCK-UPS The positions or proportions of typography in relation to the logos should never be changed. DO NOT PRINT ON SAME COLOR BACKGROUNDS Do not print logos or wordmark on background colors that cause elements of the artwork to disappear. 19

WESTMONT ATHLETICS FONT ABOUT THE FONT Like the logo, the Westmont Athletics font is a key element of Westmont s visual identity. City BQ in its three forms bold, medium, and light is the Westmont Athletics font. Through consistent use, this font can help identify Westmont Athletics even without the use of one of the graphic marks. CITY BQ BOLD City BQ Bold should be used for large point size applications such as headlines and signs. City BQ Bold is not to be used with comstocks or outlines. CITY BQ MEDIUM City BQ Bold should be used for medium to large point size applications. City BQ Medium can also be used with the outline treatment described on page 22. CITY BQ LIGHT City BQ Light should be used for applications that require smaller point sizes such as body copy. CREATING OUTLINED TYPOGRAPHY In addition to the wordmark, assets for WESTMONT, WARRIORS, and KAMMERER COURT have been provided in this guide. This artwork has been custom letterspaced and adjusted and should be used as is (see page 17). In the event that additional typographic elements are needed, please follow the rules below for creating outlined typography in Adobe Illustrator. EXAMPLE OF FINISHED ELEMENT This is an example of what a finished typographic element should look like. STEP 1 Set the word in City BQ Medium with a point size of 43 and a tracking of 120. Also set the secondary typography with a point size of 31, tracking of 120, and leading of 42. Secondary typography should be centered above or below the primary typography. Make sure all typography is capitals. For larger or smaller applications, reduce or enlarge the lettering only after step five has been completed. STEP 2 Select the word, and choose type/create outlines. The letters will change from live type to vector artwork. 22

CREATING OUTLINED TYPOGRAPHY STEP 3 Select the word, and choose object/path/offset path. Set the offset to 1.6 pts, the pull-down menu to miter, and the miter limit to 4. STEP 4 Select the path you just created, and choose object/path/offset path. Set the offset to 1.6 pts, the pull-down menu to miter, and the miter limit to 4. STEP 5 Fill the inner path with white, and the outer path with brand color. STEP 6 Size typography as needed. NOTE The WESTMONT and WARRIORS logotypes have been custom letterspaced and adjusted. Please use the above techniques for new words or phrases only. Use the included logotype artwork for all applications of the words WESTMONT and WARRIORS. 23

LOGO USAGE EXAMPLES ABOUT THE EXAMPLES The following two pages have several examples of how the Westmont Athletics logo could be applied throughout the basketball gymnasium. Use these examples as inspiration for using the logos on future projects. COURT OPTION 2 COURT OPTION 1 24
