Overview In prior releases of ivend Retail, the licensing of Management Console was based on Userbased License Management. Starting with ivend Retail 6.4 R2 Release, ivend Retail follows a hybrid licensing model for Management Console which is a combination of both Device-based and User-based licensing which will provide a greater flexibility in terms of license usage for Management Console components. With ivend Retail 6.4 R2, Retailers can decide if the licenses for Management Console in ivend Retail are to be allocated to Devices or Users. The Retailer can use Device-based or a Userbased license or a combination of both the licensing mechanisms across the landscape in order to use Management Console in ivend Retail for On-Premise deployments. Also, the license allocation can be interchanged between User and Devices or vice versa at any point of time for on-premise deployments of ivend Retail. For Cloud/Hosted deployments of ivend Retail the license must be allocated to a user. For Hybrid Deployments, users logging in ivend cloud store or Enterprise would need a user based license while for the on-premise stores both User and Device based licenses can be used. Management Console Licensing for On-Premise Customers Device-based License Management When a Management Console has been assigned a Device-based license, any Management Console user would be allowed to login from this Management Console machine (Device), For example Multiple Users can login to the same device with their respective User IDs and Passwords. A new screen Management Console has been introduced under the Retail Configuration Menu for creating device profiles for the Management Console. To allocate a device based license user must check the flag Has License on the Management Console profile record. When Management Console application is launched for the first time either on Enterprise Server or Store Servers, Management Console profile selection screen will be displayed and all the Management Console profiles corresponding to the Site ID will be listed. User has to select one of the profile from the list and then only he/she can login into the Management Console using their User ID and Password. Once profile is selected, Machine ID and Hardware ID will get automatically populated on the selected profile. Device-based license allocation is only applicable only for On-Premise deployments of ivend Retail. In case of new deployments of ivend Retail 6.4 R2, a default Management Console profile will be provided by the system which will be used for login to the Enterprise Server. Copyrights 2016. User-based License Management When a Management Console license is allocated to a User, the system would allow the user to log into any ivend Retail Management Console machine across the ivend Retail Landscape. In order to allocate a license to a User, check the flag Has License on the Security User screen. Copyrights 2016. All Rights Reserved. Page 9 of 16
