Introduction Introduction Thank you for using Visual Nexus. Visual Nexus is a system that both improves the speed and decreases the costs of business communications by connecting distant locations in real-time via high quality audio and video. This manual is the Visual Nexus Endpoint installation guide. Please read this manual before installing/ uninstalling Visual Nexus. When installing Visual Nexus, you are required to sign a User License Agreement. 1.1. Introduction 1 Before Installation 1.1. Introduction This manual describes the installation procedures and initial setup for using the Visual Nexus Client software. You may select either Visual Nexus Meeting Manager and/or Visual Nexus Secure Transport Client depending on your intended use. After setup please refer to the Visual Nexus Meeting Manager or Visual Nexus Secure Transport Client Online Help or the User Guides for information relating to using these systems. 1.2. Operating Environment The following describes the minimum environment required for installing Visual Nexus Client software Compatible OS Windows 2000 Professional Windows XP Home Edition / Professional Recommended Hardware Specifications CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (at least 2GHz recommended) Memory: at least 512MB Free Hard Drive Space: at least 50MB Minimum Hardware Specifications CPU: Intel Celeron (at least 1.7GHz) Memory: at least 256MB Free Hard Drive Space: at least 50MB The minimum hardware specification supports the configuration described below. 1.3. Important Environmental Settings 1.3. Important Environmental Settings 1.3.1. Internet Explorer Security Settings Without the correct IE setting, you will not be able to login to Visual Nexus. Change your settings according to the following procedures: 1 Start IE (Internet Explorer), and select [Tools] [Internet Options] from the menu. 2 Select the [Security] tab, select the [Trusted Sites] icon, and click the [Sites] button. 7

1.3. Important Environmental Settings 3 In the box under Add this Web site to the zone, input http://[meeting Server Address]:8080. Remove the check from the checkbox that says Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone, and click the [Add] button. For example, input: http://172.16.51.100:8080 4 Confirm that the Web site you input has been added, and click the [OK] button. 5 Close IE. 8

1.3. Important Environmental Settings When connecting over a LAN, and the above settings have not been made, Visual Nexus will cause an error (Error_104 XML/HTTP-Request Transfer Error (104)), and you will not be able to login to Visual Nexus service. When opening the Trusted Sites dialog again after completing these settings, the Web site you entered originally will show as http://172.16.51.100, and the :8080 field will no longer be displayed. 9

2 Visual Nexus Setup 2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup 2.1.1. Pre-Installation Preparation Perform the installation taking care to note the following warnings: Be sure that your camera, microphone and speakers are all operational before installation. Be sure to login to Windows as a user with administrator rights before you begin installation. 2.1.2. Downloading and Installing Visual Nexus Client Software from VNOnline Browse to your Meeting Server s web portal, VNOnline, using the URL provided by your Visual Nexus administrator. For example, launch your Web browser, and navigate to the following URL to display Visual Nexus Online: URL: http://[meeting Server Address]:8080 1 Navigate to the Download Center from Visual Nexus Online, and click the Visual Nexus Endpoint ver3 execution module button. 10 VN-D003-003

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup The download confirmation dialog will be displayed. 2 Click the [Run] or [Save] button. The [Run] option will download the software and then automatically begin the installation. The [Save] button will require you to save it to a specified folder and then you must manually start the installation by running the file you have just downloaded 3 Select the language you wish to use for setup, and click the [OK] button. Japanese or English is supported. After selecting the setup language, the Visual Nexus installer will start as shown below. 11

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup 4 Click the [Next] button to continue or [Cancel] to abort the installation. The Software User License Agreement will be displayed. 5 Scroll through and read the License Agreement. Click the [Accept] button to agree to the terms of the 30 Visual Nexus Software License Agreement. 31 12

Visual Nexus Client Setup The default program folder location for the installation will be displayed. 6 Click the [Next] button to accept the default location Use [Change] to alter the location of the installation folder. The Start Menu settings screen will be displayed. 7 Select the Client software component(s) you want to install: Regular users will select Visual Nexus Endpoint and Secure Transport. Choose Visual Nexus Secure Transport Personal Client if you intend to use a 3 rd party software endpoint behind a firewall/nat. Administrators will choose Secure Transport Group Client when providing FW/NAT traversal for multiple endpoints or hardware systems. After selction click the [Next] button to continue. The Server Address selection screen will be displayed. 8 Specify the Meeting Server address or name, and the Update Server address (if being used), and click the [Next] button. These addresses are supplied by your Administrator. 13

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup Note that if the Update Server is the same as the Meeting Server, you do not need to provide the Update Server address. The installation preparation screen will be displayed. 9 Click the [Install] button. Installation will now begin. 14

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup When installation has completed, the installation completion screen will be displayed. 10 Check the [Launch the program] checkbox, and click the [Finish] button. The Visual Nexus Meeting Manager will start. This concludes the installation process. Next, provide the initial settings after the Meeting Manager starts. If you ended installation without checking the [Start Program] checkbox, double-click the Meeting Manager icon on your desktop to start Meeting Manager. 15

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup 2.1.4. Meeting Manager Initial Settings The first time the Meeting Manager is launched after installation, it will perform NetMeeting setup, audio and video setup and benchmark tests. 1 Click the [Yes] button when the dialog below is displayed. If the dialog is not displayed, go to 2. This dialog is for correcting File Transfer Folder. If you do not change the folder, you will not be able to receive transfered files. You can change the folder from Meeting Manager/Actions/Data Collaboration (T.120)/File Transfer Folder menu. Note if you accidentally abort this stage you should run the audio/video wizard from the Meeting Manager Tools/Configurations/Endpoint Configurations menu. 2 Click the [Yes] button, and start the benchmark program. 16

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup 3 When benchmarking is finished, click the [OK] button. The panel for changing Endpoint settings will display. 4 Ensure the correct microphone and speaker sound devices are correctly selected. If you will not be using speakers, uncheck the [I m using loud speaker] checkbox. Click the [Audio Configuration Wizard] to run the calibration. You do not need to check the [I m using loud speaker] checkbox if you are using a headset. The audio input test will start first. 5 Test the microphone. Speak into the microphone in a regular voice. The Microphone volume will be automatically adjusted. The speaker/ headset test will begin. 17

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup 6 Confirm speaker operation. Confirm that you heard music. 7 If the [I m using loud speaker] checkbox was checked in Procedure 3, the speaker will be automatically adjusted. (This dialog will not be displayed if the checkbox was unchecked in Procedure 3) 8 If there are no problems, click the [Yes] button. If further adjustments are necessary, click the [No] button. 9 If you clicked [No] in Procedure 7, adjust the input volume, and conduct the test again. click 18

2.1. Visual Nexus Client Setup 10 After audio settings have been completed, click [Camera]. If you see the image, click the [OK] button. If you do not see your own image, select the video capture card you are using from the drop-down list, and click [Reinitialise]. Click the [Advanced] tab to make color balance and other camera adjustments. 11 Click the [OK] button when the dialog below is displayed. 12 The Meeting Manager Login screen is displayed. 19

Visual Nexus Client Setup Change/ provide login settings, meeting settings. 13 Right-click on the [Meeting Server] icon, and select [Edit]. 14 Input your account details, i.e. Login Name and Password, and the Meeting Server address or name, and click the [Save] button. Checking the [Make Default] checkbox will let you automatically login to the Meeting Manager using the set profile information. 15 Terminate Meeting Manager from Meeting Manager/Program/Exit menu to save teminal settings, and double-click the Meeting Manager icon on your desktop to restart Meeting Manager. When proxy server settings set for Internet Explorer prevent you from logging in you should adjust the security setting in Internet Explorer. From the Internet Explorer menu, select 31 Tools Internet Options Connection tab, and in LAN Settings, either turn off the proxy server settings, or add an entry in Exceptions under the Advanced so Meeting Server HTTP requests do not go out via a proxy server. If an Error_104 XML/ HTTP-Request Transfer Error (104) occurs when logging in to the Visual Nexus Meeting Manager, refer to 1.3.2. Security Configuration to check whether your settings are correct. This concludes initial settings for Meeting Manager. 20

2.2. Secure Transport Personal Client Setup 2.2. Secure Transport Personal Client Setup Follow the procedures described here ONLY if you wish to install the Personal Client with use with a 3 rd party endpoint. When using the Visual Nexus Endpoint software, the Personal Client is installed automatically. 2.2.1. Installing Personal Client Components The procedures for installing Personal Client components are almost identitical to those for installing Visual Nexus. 1 Follow all of the Procedures 1 through 6 detailed in 30 2.1.2. Downloading and Installing Visual Nexus. 2 Where you would normally perform Procedure 7, instead select [Visual Nexus Secure Transport Personal Client], and then click the [Next] button. 3 Continue with Procedures 8 through 10 as described in section 2.1.3. If you complete the procedures, but do not check the [Start Program] checkbox, select [All Programs] [Visual Nexus] [Secure Transport] from the Windows Start menu. 21

2.2. Secure Transport Personal Client Setup 2.2.2. Personal Client Initial Settings When installation has completed, provide the settings for the server address and account information. 1 Designate the [Secure Transport Server] server address, input the Login Name/ Password for the [Account], and click the [Connect] button. 22

2.2. Secure Transport Personal Client Setup 2 Right-click on the Personal Client icon located in the system tray at the lower right of the screen, and select [Open]. 3 Check the status screen. If the status screen indicates 31 Connection to Visual Nexus Secure Transport Server has been established. on the second line of text, you have been connected successfully to the Secure Transport Server. This concludes initial settings. If there is a problem with your connection, contact your system administrator. 23

3.1. Uninstalling Visual Nexus 3 Uninstalling Visual Nexus 3.1. Uninstalling Visual Nexus Visual Nexus Endpoint and Secure Transport Personal Client use the same uninstallation method. 1 Select [Control Panel] - [Add or Remove Programs] from the Windows Start menu. 2 Select [Visual Nexus Endpoint] from Change or Remove Programs, and click the [Remove] button. The program removal confirmation screen will be displayed. 3 Select [OK]. The program will be removed. 24

3.1. Uninstalling Visual Nexus The dialog will disappear once the program has been removed. The uninstallation is now complete. 25
