In either case, the license rights are only active on one PC at a time. Proceed with caution when transferring license rights. If you enter an incorrect code or if the removable medium is damaged, the license rights will be lost. If this happens, please contact one of the Schneider Electric software registration centers. License rights can only be transferred if the PCs concerned do not have the same hard disk number. This issue has already arisen with the use of certain "ghosts". If you intend to transfer the license rights back from the target PC to the source PC, you do not need to uninstall and then re-install the software. To transfer the license rights back, repeat the transfer procedure. If you are also upgrading this software and have requested an authorization code, you must wait until you have received this new authorization code and have entered it on the source PC before transferring the license rights. The license rights can only be transferred if the software is the same type on both the source PC and target PC. For PL7, the same applies to its version. Transferring license rights using a removable medium or a network Before commencing the procedure to transfer the license rights, make sure the software is already installed on the target PC. Page 2 of 38 Transferring license rights via a network FAQs about transferring license rights During a network transfer, you will need to enter the ID of the target PC. We recommend that you print out this information to avoid any inputting errors. Finding a PC on the network If the PC is connected to a vast network, the network browser is not necessarily the best tool to use when searching. This procedure could in fact take a considerable time. If you know it, enter either the name of the target PC (for example, \\targetcomputername\) or its IP address (for example, \\10.0.0.1\). This is the most efficient method. Why does the source PC not display the target PC s shared folder? Check that you have the necessary rights for accessing the target PC. If in doubt, contact your system administrator. Why is the registration wizard inaccessible when you are using the network browser? The most likely cause is that another program supplied by Schneider Electric (OFS for example) is running on the target computer. Why has the transfer of license rights via the network failed? Another program supplied by Schneider (OFS for example) is running on the target PC. Check that you have the necessary read/write rights for accessing the shared folder. In Windows XP, the default access rights are read-only. Right-click with the mouse and select Sharing to change the parameters. Make sure that the "Allow network users to change my files" property has been selected. Is it possible to register several sets of license rights on the same removable medium? Only a single set of license rights can be registered on the same removable medium. If you try to register a second, an error message is displayed. The medium containing the license rights is faulty: How can they be retrieved?
Page 3 of 38 You cannot retrieve the license rights from a faulty medium. These license rights are lost in the following conditions: The hard disk containing an authorized product freezes A faulty medium is used for the transfer If you enter the computer ID or target PC session code incorrectly You need to re-install the operating system on a PC containing an authorized product: How do I register the license rights? The file containing the license rights must be transferred temporarily to another PC, via a network or removable medium. Once the operating system has been re-installed, you can transfer it back again. Transferring License Rights Via a Removable Medium Not all types of removable medium are suitable. Only those with read/write capability can be used (floppy disk, USB flash memory or Zip drive, not a CD-ROM). In this process, the target PC s computer ID is registered. The license rights come from the source PC and are transferred to the target PC. Proceed with caution when transferring license rights. If you enter an incorrect code or if the removable medium is damaged, the license rights will be lost. On the target PC 1. Install the software if you have not already done so. 2. Launch the registration wizard. 3. Select the "Transfer License Rights" option then click Next. 4. Register the computer ID and the code entry number, then close the registration wizard. If an error occurs while registering the computer ID or the code entry number, the license rights are lost. On the source PC 1. Exit the program. 2. Launch the registration wizard. 3. Select the "Transfer License Rights" option then click Next. 4. In the Transfer License Rights dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights to
Page 4 of 38 or from the Computer via a Network or Removable Medium" option. 5. In the next dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights from this Computer to a Removable Medium" option. 6. Insert the removable medium. When Windows has detected it, proceed to the next step. 7. Check whether the software on the target PC has already been authorized. If so, the license rights on the target PC are lost if you press OK to continue. Click Cancel to avoid losing the license rights. If not, click OK in the Transfer Information dialog box, then proceed to the next step. 8. In the Transfer License Rights to the Target Computer dialog box, enter the computer ID and the code entry number for the target computer (twice each). 9. In the Select License File Location dialog box, find the removable medium. 10. Close the registration wizard. 11. Transfer the removable medium to the target PC. If an error occurs while entering the computer ID or the code entry number, the license rights will be lost. After transferring the license rights to the removable medium, the copy of the protected software on the source PC will no longer work. On the target PC 1. Launch the registration wizard, then select the "Transfer License Rights" option. 2. In the Transfer License Rights dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights to or from the Computer via a Network or Removable Medium" option. 3. In the Transfer License Rights dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights from a Removable Medium to this Computer" option. 4. In the Select License File Location dialog box, select the removable medium. Click Next. 5. If the transfer is successful, a confirmation dialog box is displayed. 6. Launch the software on the target PC. Since the license rights have now been transferred, the copy of the software on the source PC no longer works. Transferring License Rights Via the Network

To do this, right-click with the mouse on the folder then select Properties from the pop-up menu. Activate sharing using the properties contained in the Sharing tab. Check that the security option is configured as "Complete check".

In the Select License File Location dialog box, find the software program folder on the PC then click Next. 10. Close the registration wizard. After transferring the license rights, the copy of the software on the source PC will no longer work. On the target PC No further action is needed on the target PC. The software is now authorized. It starts up and runs normally. Transferring License Rights Via a Removable Medium Proceed with caution when transferring license rights. If the removable medium has been damaged, the license rights will be lost. In this process, the license rights are transferred via a USB key. Transferring the license rights from a PC to a USB key 1. Exit the program. 2. Insert a USB key in one of the PC USB ports. Check that the operating system has recognized it. 3. Launch the registration wizard. 4. Select the "Transfer License Rights" option then click Next. 5. In the Transfer License Rights dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights from or to the Floppy Disk" (which, in this case, will be a USB key) option. 6. In the next dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights from this Computer to the Floppy Disk" (USB key) option. 7. Select the drive representing the USB key, then click Next. If you insert the key after launching the registration tool, you may need to click the Refresh button.

Restoring the license rights from a USB key to a PC 1. Insert a USB key in the PC USB port. Check that the operating system has recognized it. 2. Open the registration wizard. In the Select Task dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights" option. 3. Select "Transfer License Rights to or from a Floppy Disk" (USB key). 4. In this dialog box, select the "Transfer License Rights from the Floppy Disk (USB key) to this Computer" option. 5. Select the drive representing the USB key, then click Next. If you insert the key after launching the registration wizard, you may need to click the Refresh button. 6. If the transfer is successful, a message is displayed indicating the end of the transfer. Close the registration wizard by clicking Finish. Si vous mettez également à niveau ce logiciel et avez demandé un code d autorisation, vous devez attendre d obtenir ce nouveau code d autorisation puis le saisir sur le PC d origine avant de transférer les droits de licence. Les droits de licence ne peuvent être transférés que si le type du logiciel est le même sur le PC d origine et le PC destinataire. Pour PL7, il en est de même pour sa version.
