Installation Instructions 1. Installation of the motherboard You can mount XL-ATX, ATX, M-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards in the CoolForce 2. In order to ensure an easy installation of your motherboard, we suggest the following procedure: Please consult the following charts to find your motherboard form factor. Attach the stand-offs according to your motherboard form factor. Attach the included EPS extension cable on to your motherboard do not connect it to the power supply yet. XL-ATX ATX Micro-ATX Mini-ITX 03

EN Attach the included EPS extension cable on to your motherboard do not connect it to the power supply yet. Next you should mount the CPU cooler - for very large CPU coolers, the attachment of the EPS extension cable after installation can be difficult. In the next step place the motherboard gently inside the case and lead the EPS extension cable through the opening provided in the top left of the mainboard tray. Fix the motherboard to the motherboard tray. After the installation of the power supply, you can connect the EPS extension cable to the EPS-connector on the PSU at the back of the motherboard-tray. 2. Installation of optical drives and removal of the 5.25 inch cage You can install up to two external drives 5.25 inch drives in the CoolForce 2. 2.1 Installation of optical drives To install optical drives, please remove both side panels. The installation of optical drives requires neither screws nor tools. Remove the 5.25 inch cover by pushing it gently but steadily from the inside out In order to reach the tool-free locks on the left side of the case (as seen from the front), please remove the cover inscribed with Designed in Germany in front of the 5.25 inch cage. Loosen the lock on both sides by dragging the black slider backwards. Then slide the drive into the desired position. Lock the holder by pushing the slider back to its original position. 04

2.2 Removal the 5.25 inch cage If you don t need optical drives or wish to install radiators under the top or in the front and need additional space, you can simply take out the 5.25 inch cage from your CoolForce 2. Please remove the front first (see chapter 5.1) und unscrew the seven screws which connect the cage to the front of the case. Next please remove the two screws on the rear of the cage and take it out of the case. 3. The Nanoxia ModuWand One of the main features of the CoolForce 2 is the Nanoxia ModuWand. It allows the installation of hard disk drives, fans, reservoirs, or pumps for a water cooling system. The Nanoxia Modu- Wand can be removed for the installation of extra-long VGA-cards. The ModuWand is fixed with four screws. To take the ModuWand out of the case, please loosen the screws on both sides of the case (see drawing). 05

EN 4. Installation of hard drives You can mount up to six 2.5 inch SSD as well as up to four 3.5 inch HDD in the CoolForce 2. 4.1 Mounting of hard disk drives in the 2-bay HDD-cage Install the hard drives in the illustrated mounting frames. In order to extract the frame, squeeze the protruding brackets and pull the slide out gently. Please be advised that the HHD-cage is only accessible from the right side, as seen from the front. To install a hard drive into a bracket insert the disk so that the connectors point to the back and attach the hard drive using the screws provided. For the installation of 3.5 inch drives, use the holes in Figure 3A For the installation of 2.5 inch drives, use the holes in Figure 3B Figure 3A Figure 3B To lock the drive, push the bracket with the drive back installed back into the slot until the bracket is re-engaged. 4.2 Removal of the HDD-cage The 2-bay HDD-cage of your new case is modular and can easily be removed. You can also purchase additional HDD cages and increase the number of hard disk drives in your case. Due to this unique variability, you can: - Adjust the number of available HDD mounts - Optimize the air flow within the case - Mount a water cooling system behind the front fans 06

If you want to remove the hard drive cage in order to install a water cooling radiator, simply loosen the 4 screws connecting the cage to the chassis. You can then simply remove it. 4.3 Utilizing the 2.5 inch mounting trays Your CoolForce 2 comes with four 2.5 inch mounting trays, which have been specifically designed to hold SSD drives. In order to mount an SSD on the tray, first remove the thumbscrews that holds the tray in place and then the 2.5 inch tray. Place the SSD on the front of the tray and fix it with the included 2.5 inch mounting screws. In the next step, please put the mounting tray with the attached SSD back inside the case and fix it with the thumbscrew. SSD We strongly recommend using our flat SATA cable with the straight connector, which we developed especially for this purpose, in order to guarantee a smooth fit of the side panels. One SATA connector cable is already included, you can purchase additional cables in stores 07

EN 4.4 Utilizing the ModuWand for the installation of hard disks The versatile Nanoxia ModuWand allows the installation of up to four hard disk drives two each of 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives per side (removal of the 2-bay HDD-cage may be necessary). Please remove the Nanoxia ModuWand for the installation of hard disks first (see chapter 3). If you plan to install both 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives, you have to install the 2.5 inch drives first and only then the 3.5 inch HDD, as you wouldn t be able to reach the 2.5 inch mounting holes otherwise. For the installation of a 3.5 inch hard disk on the outer side of the ModuWand, it is necessary to use the included SATA combo-cable with the angled connector. Connect the cable to the drive before the installation. You cannot connect the cable after the drive has been mounted. Additional cables can be purchased in stores. Please note that installing hard disks on the outer side of the ModuWand will limit the available space for the installation of long VGA cards. 5. Removing the front panel and the Nanoxia Air-Cover 5.1 Removing the front panel To remove the front panel, simply hold the cutout at the bottom of the front panel and pull it towards you with a firm tug. Please be careful not to damage the cables of the Nanoxia Rigid LED bar behind the front. 5.2 Removing the Nanoxia Air-Cover To remove the lid of the case, for example to install fans or radiators under the top of the case, please first loosen the catch at the rear side of the cover. Pull it gently backward and upward away. 08

If you wish to close the Air-Cover again, let it slide obliquely from above into the appropriate mounting holes and lock it with the catch. 6. Fan assembly Three 140 mm fans are pre-installed in your case. You can mount up to nine fans in total. We recommend the use of the 120 or 140 mm Nanoxia CoolForce fans, available separately. These are technically and visually equivalent to the factory-installed case fans and will work in perfect harmony with the built-in fan control of your case. You can, of course, connect the additional fans to the fan controller (see chapter 7.2). Front and bottom of the CoolForce 2 are equipped with easy to clean dust filters. We recommend that you clean them on a regular basis. 09

EN 6.1 Fans in the case front To switch the fans in the front or to clean the dust filters, please remove the front panel first (see chapter 5.1). Next, remove the four screws with which the dust filter is connected to the front and take it out. Please be advised that the fans are screwed to the dust filter. The front dust filter allows the installation of either 2 x 120 or 2 x 140 mm fans. Two 140 mm CoolForce fans (1,100 rpm) are preinstalled. 6.2 Fans under the top cover If you want to install more fans at the top of the case, please remove the Nanoxia Air-Cover (see chapter 5.2). Then hold the fans from the inside and secure them to the top by fastening the screws from the outside. Case fans installed at the top of the case should exhaust air out of the case (fan rear side facing outwards). Please note to keep the Air Chimney opened when you have mounted fans under the top. 6.3 Fan at the bottom of the case If you want to mount a 120 or 140 mm fan at the case bottom, you must remove dust filter first. The rail is attached with four screws to the bottom. 10

Please place the fan on the inside of the case and secure it from the outside. An additional case fan at the bottom of the case should be mounted so that cooler air is introduced into the case (fan rear side facing inwards). 6.4 Fans on the Nanoxia ModuWand If you want to mount additional fans inside the case, for example to optimize disk ventilation, you can use the Nanoxia ModuWand. For this, you first have to remove the ModuWand (see chapter 3). The ModuWand offers mounting holes both for 120 and 140 mm fans; install the fans accordingly and put the Nanoxia ModuWand back into the case. Please note that installing fans on the outer side of the ModuWand will limit the available space for the installation of long VGA cards. The use of 120 mm fans on the outer side of the ModuWand in combination with 3.5 inch HDD on the inner side (or the other way round) can cause incompatibilities. If you install case fans in the mounting bracket, those should support the movement of air from front to back. 11

EN 7. The 3-stage fan controller The CoolForce 2 is equipped with a 3-stage fan control for up to three fans. 7.1 Connecting the fans to the fan control The fan controller is powered by a SATA power-connector that is connected directly to the power supply. The controller offers three 3-pin connectors for fans. The fan controller is not designed for the operation of powerful fans. Please take this into account in particular when using fans from other manufacturers. The maximum power must not exceed 9 watts. 7.2 Operation of the fan control The sliders for controlling the fans controller can be found at top of the case front. You can choose between Low Medium High settings and thus adjust the speed of the preinstalled fans according to your needs. 8. The Nanoxia Rigid LED Bars Behind the front of your CoolForce 2 case two green-lit Nanoxia Rigid LED Bars are pre-installed. 8.1 Connecting the Rigid LED Bars to the power supply The Rigid LED Bars are powered by a 3-pin Molex connector that can be connected directly to the power supply or a separate fan control. 12

Please note that the preinstalled fan control cannot be used to dim the Rigid LED bars. 8.2 Operation of the Rigid LED Bars If you want to deactivate the LED Rigid Bars, you can simply use the LED on/off button in the lower left corner of the case front. 9. Installing a water cooling solution In the CoolForce 2 case, you can install 240 mm radiators behind the front panel as well as either 120 mm, 240 mm or 360 mm radiators under the top cover. 9.1 Installation of a radiator or compact water cooling solution behind the front For the installation, please remove the modular HDD-cage at the bottom (see Chapter 4.2). Next, please remove the case front (see chapter 5.1) and the dust filter with the attached fans and remove the fans (see chapter 6.1). Now you can mount the radiators with the fans on the dust filter. It is easily possible to install very thick radiators in a pushpull-configuration. It might be necessary to remove the Nanoxia ModuWand for this (see chapter 3). 13

EN 9.2 Installation of a radiator or compact water cooling solution under the top cover For the installation of the radiator under the top cover, please use the laterally offset mounting holes. These special mounting holes ensure the best possible compatibility with current motherboards. Please note that you need to remove the Air-Cover (see chapter 5.2). Hold the radiator to the inside of the top cover and fasten it with screws. If you should need additional space for the installation of a radiator under the top, you can remove the 5.25 inch cage easily (see chapter 2.2). If you should opt to install a radiator under the top cover, we strongly suggest that you use low profile RAM modules in order to avoid possible compatibility issues. 14
