Thank you for choosing Cadence. Thank you for purchasing the Cadence DSP4.8 Digital Signal Processor utilizing a 32Bit Core DSP with 24 bit / 192Khz AD and DA convertors. All functions and adjustments are easily controlled using the DSP4.8 software included with the processor. This is a high quality product built to the highest standards that will bring you many years of listening satisfaction. With its many processing functions and extreme flexibility the DSP 4.8 will help you achieve the best sound performance from your system To get the most from your purchase we suggest reading this instruction manual carefully so you can properly understand the features and their adjustments. Please read before proceeding with installation. Before beginning any installation, follow these simple rules: 1. Be sure to carefully read and understand the instructions before attempting to install the unit. Professional installation is strongly suggested. 2. For safety, disconnect the negative lead from the battery prior to beginning the installation. 3. For easier assembly, we suggest you run all wires prior to mounting your unit in place. 4. Route all of the RCA cables close together and away from any high current wires.. Use high quality connectors for a reliable installation and to minimize signal or power loss. 6. Think before you drill! Be careful not to cut or drill into gas tanks, fuel lines, brake or hydraulic lines, vacuum lines or electrical wiring when working on any vehicle. 7. Never run wires underneath the vehicle. Running the wires inside the vehicle provides the best protection. 8. Avoid running wires over or through sharp edges. Use rubber or plastic grommets to protect any wires routed through metal, especially the firewall. 9. ALWAYS protect the battery and electrical system from damage with proper fusing. Install the appropriate fuse holder and fuse on the +12V power wire within 18" (4.7 cm) of the battery terminal. 10. When grounding to the chassis of the vehicle, scrape all paint from the metal to ensure a good, clean ground connection. Grounding connections should be as short as possible and always be connected to metal that is welded to the main body, or chassis, of the vehicle. 11.The DSP4.8 operates with any 12 volt negative ground system. If you are not sure of the type of electrical system in your vehicle consult your authorized dealer or a qualified mechanic. 12.Most systems or source units have an output terminal for connection of the remote turn-on of the DSP 4.8. If the source unit does not have a remote output then connect the remote lead to a wire that has a positive 12v when the key is turned to accessory. This will prevent unnecessary drain on the battery. 1

Installation 1. Please install the unit in the proper location according to the Figure 1 after reading the warnings. 2. Please make sure the are is well ventilated not in direct sunlight or exposed to moisture. 3. Put the processor in its location and use a marker or pencil to mark the four hole locations to be drilled for mounting. Please do not use the DSP 4.8 as a template for drilling. 4. Drill 3. mm diameter holes into mounting surface or steel panel. If mounting on MDF or wood panel, drill 3.0 mm diameter holes into surface. 6. Mount the processor using the included 4 self-tapping screws. (Note: If possible, please test the system before installation.) Installation Diagram SELF TAP SCREWS Figure 1 2

USB 2.0 type B 1. Plan the wire routing. Keep RCA cables close together but isolated from power cables and any high power auto accessories, especially electric motors. This is done to prevent coupling the noise from radiated electrical fields into the audio signal. When feeding the wires through the firewall or any metal barrier, protect them with plastic or rubber grommets to prevent short circuits. Leave the wires long at this point to adjust for a precise fit at a later time. 2. Securely mount the DSP4.8 unit to the vehicle using the supplied hardware. Please choose a location that has adequate ventilation away from moisture and direct sunlight. Always check the opposite side of the mounting surface to ensure that there is nothing that can be damaged before fastening the unit down. 3. Prepare the ground connection wires (GND) for attachment to the power connector. Strip the wire back.12 and insert the wire into the 4 pin connector and tighten. Prepare the chassis ground location by scraping or sand any paint from the metal surface and thoroughly clean the area of all dirt and grease. Solder or crimp a ring connector to the other end of the wires and fasten both cables to the chassis using a non-anodized screw and a star washer. NOTE: Keep the length of the ground wires as short as possible. 4. Prepare the power wire (+12v) for attachment to the power connector. If you are connecting directly to the battery, or a high current circuit ensure the wire is equipped with a A fuse. Strip the end of the wire back.12 and insert into proper location on the connector and tighten.. Prepare the remote turn on (REM) wire for attachment to the power connector. Strip the wire back.12 and insert into connector and tighten.. NOTE: The remote turn on wire (REM IN) can also be connected to the vehicles +12V ACC power for vehicles without an aftermarket head unit. 7. Insert the connector into the DSP4.8 when all connections are complete. 4

The Save button will save a new file or for saving revisions to an existing file. The Read button will read the stored memories from the processor. 8

14.Remote Control and display: The remote control is used to remotely select memory presets and volume level without using a PC. When using a digital input source through the Optical or Coaxial digital inputs this will be the main system volume control. NOTE: It is important that you connect the remote control before turning on the DSP4.8 processor, the DSP4.8 will not function without the remote control connected. Connect the remote prior to powering up the DSP4.8 processor. Volume is controlled using the rotary volume knob, turn the knob clockwise to increase the volume, to reduce the volume turn the knob counter clockwise. The volume level will be displayed in the display from 00 to 99. When using the remotes volume control with an analog input source it is suggested that the output level of the analog source be set to its maximum undistorted output level. When using Digital input sources you will be required to use the volume control of the DSP4.8. Memory Presets can be changed using the Memory + / - buttons, the memory preset selected will be displayed. Memory presets are numbered 1 through 10. After selecting a new memory preset wait for it to load completely. 9
