1 1 @ novapro32 resupports the sending of messages via e- mail, fax, and SMS from version 5.1. This appendix completes chapter 7 (Online messaging) of the manual «novapro32 Configuration» (7000904). The configuration is made in two phases: Installation of the connection «remote access via modem or via the computer network» Configuration of «novapro32» messaging. Note: the sending of fax and SMS messages via messaging depends on the availability of these services from the Internet service provider (ISP). 1.1 Installation of the connection Before starting the installation, you should know the type of support that will be used for transmitting the messages. There are two types of support for transmitting e-mails: via the computer network, via a modem and telephone line 1.1.1 Computer network No further installation is required. However, the address of the SMTP server have to be known in order to configure the novapro32 messaging. 1.1.2 Remote access via modem The installation of the connection is different depending on whether the operating system is Windows 2000 or Windows XP. However, a part of the installation is the same for both operating systems: installation of the modem selection of the Internet service provider (ISP) opening an Internet account obtaining the address of the SMTP server 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems 5

1 novapro32 Configuration 1.1.2.1 Windows 2000 The installation of the connection is made by the use of an assistant. Start the assistant with: Start Settings Network connections and remote access Configure a new connection: Select «Dial up to private network» and then «Next» Enter the telephone number of your Internet service provider (ISP) Enter the name that you wish to use for this connection 6 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems

1 For the first connection you also have to: enter the user name and password that identifies you to the Internet service provider tick the option «Save the password» Open the properties of the connection In the tab «Networking» select the components: Internet protocol (TCP/IP) Client for Microsoft networks Select the tab «Connections» within: Microsoft Internet Explorer Tools Internet options: Select the connection that you have previously configured Select the option «Always dial my default connection» Click on the button «Set default» to make this connection the default connection 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems 7

Select the following options: Use this account name and Make this the default Internet connection Trun on Internet Connection and then «Next» Finish the settings with «Finish» During the first connection, you must select the option «Save this user name and password» and «Anyone who uses this computer». 1 In the tab «Networking» you have to select the components: Internet protocol (TCP/IP) Client for Microsoft networks In the tab «Advanced» you have to select the Internet connection firewall Open the window «Advanced Settings» with the button «Settings» In the tab «Services» select the service: Internet mail server (SMTP) In the tab «ICMP» all the options have to be unselected in order to prevent access by «external intruders» Note: Windows XP service pack 2 may make changes to the firewall settings. 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems 11

1 novapro32 Configuration Open the «Network connections» window with: Start Settings Network connections Click the right mouse button Open. Of the connection with the name previously configured, open the context menu with the right mouse button: Select «Set as Default Connection» Open the tab «Connections» in the «Internet options» window with: Microsoft Internet Explorer Tools Internet options. Select the connection that you have previously configured Select the option «Always dial my default connection» It required click on the button «Set default» Testing the connection: After completing the configuration of the Internet connection, you should test the correct functioning of the connection to the Internet service provider by starting Internet Explorer. 12 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems

1 1.2 Configuration of the «E-mail» messaging under novapro32 To configure the e-mail messaging, you also have to refer to the manual «novapro32 Configuration» chapter 7 Online messaging. Starting with the menu (File Configuration Messaging), the «Configuration Event Publisher» window will appear. 1.2.1 Tab «Messaging profile» Refer to section 7.1.1 of the manual «novapro32 Configuration». 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems 13

1 novapro32 Configuration 1.2.2 Tab «Output device» In the frame «Definition of output devices» when in the tab «Transmission support» - «email receiver», selected all the e-mail recipients are listed. Configure the recipients and the sender, open the window «Sender and receiver configuration» by clicking on the «Edit» button: In the «Sender» frame, the name and the mail address of the sender must be entered. Both of these will be included in all will be messages that will be send. The address has to be the address that is allocated by the Internet service provider. In the «Leaving email server» frame, the parameters (address and port) of the SMTP server must be entered. The address is allocated by the Internet service provider. The port is fixed at 25 by default. In the «Receiver configuration» frame, all the configured recipients are listed. The name may be freely chosen and may be allocated either to a single recipient's address or to a group of addresses. By clicking on the blue symbol in the «Address» field with the left mouse button, a new recipient may be entered with in the «Contact address(es)» window. The column «Template title» allows the title of the send template (which can be edited) to be inserted as the «Subject» of the message. With some Internet service providers the title as subject may be necessary for sending an e-mail message by SMS or fax. Testing the recipients' addresses: By clicking on the recipient's name with the right mouse button, a test mail can be sent to the recipient via novapro32 and the Internet service provider. 14 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems

1 1.2.3 Tab «Output Layout» Refer to section 7.1.3 of the manual «novapro32 Configuration». 1.2.4 Tab «Output time program» Refer to section 7.1.4 of the manual «novapro32 Configuration». 1.3 Administration A log file is created the first time an error occurs during the transmission of an e-mail. The file «Send_eMailMsg.log» is stored in the directory «...\Private_Data\System\» and it is organized as a FIFO file with 2000 entries. The contents of this file may be viewed with a text editor such as Notepad, WordPad etc. The various entries are: Problems with the transmission of the messages together with the error code returned by the SMTP server Connection problems The return to correct functioning The messages deleted from the send queue buffer (in the case too many messages are sent while the mail service is not functioning) The send queue buffer (FIFO) has a capacity of 300 messages. The sending of messages is automatically repeated every minute during transmission problems. 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems 15

2 novapro32 Configuration Logbook 2 Logbook By using the logbook function, a user can, after entering the password, obtain a quick overview of the system messages and the actions taken by the users. This appendix replaces section 15.2 (Logbook - Administration) of the manual «novapro32 Configuration» (7000904). 2.1 Displaying the logbook Clicking the «Logbook» icon, in the novapro32 tool bar, a list of functions and/or system messages are displayed, based on the active configuration. 2.1.1 Layout of the logbook Date and time of the event Name of the PC and the name of the user who initiated the action Description of the address Description of the event or of the system information Exact house address Indication of the additional function of the point The order within a column (increasing or decreasing) may be changed by clicking on the header (the same as with Windows explorer) The sizes of the column widths may be changed by dragging the column separators with the mouse while keeping the left mouse button depressed The position of the columns may be modified by «drag and drop» 16 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems

Logbook 2 2.2 Use of the logbook 2.2.1 The context menu To display the context menu, click into the window with the right mouse button. 2.2.2 Properties Display and modification of the parameters (filters) of the logbook. 2 novapro32 Configuration Logbook Tab: User The name of the user is preceded by an asterisk (this replaces the PC name) Tab: HA (Hardware Address) The «Address selection» button opens the usual address browser. Select the required address with the mouse. After closing the address selection window, the selection may be modified if required, for example with the jokers «?» and «*» 2.2.3 Export to The menu «Export to» allows the contents of the log that is currently displayed to be exported to a «TXT» file. After selecting the «Export to» menu, the file name may be entered and the destination directory selected in the dialog window that opens 18 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems

Logbook 2 2.2.4 Template The «List and Label» program is started when selecting «Template» in the context menu. This program by presents the print template for the logbook. The template may be modified to suit user specific requirements. 2.2.5 Preview The «Preview» command in the context menu displays the print layout of the logbook that is currently displayed. 2.2.6 Refresh The logbook may be updated by the menu entry «Refresh» in the context menu. 2.2.7 Print Printing the logbook currently displayed is carried out by selecting the printer in the «Print» menu. To configure the log printers refer to chapter 12 of the manual novapro32 Configuration 7000904002 Q4. 2.3 Comments The full functionality of this logbook display function is only available if the entries in the database were made by version 5.1 of novapro32. However, processing of the data from previous versions is possible if the filters in the tab «Type» are not used (see section 1.2.2 of this document). In order to upgrade the «Print» functionality, you have to update the project with the programme «Update.exe» using the option «Update the novapro32 files». 7001053003 R6 Sauter Systems 19
