FAQs AHD CAMERA & AHD DVR Q. What are AHD camera / AHD technology? A. AHD CCTV is an analog high definition closed-circuit television video surveillance standard that utilizes coax cable to transmit HD video from security cameras to DVRs. AHD supports from 720p to 5MP HD resolution. Q. What is the difference between the technologies? SDI, TVI, CVI, Analog, AHD and IP? A. Analog: Goes up to 1000 TVL AHD: Analog High Definition up to 5MP resolution. CVI/TVI: Different Manufactures. SDI: Full High Definition 1080p IP: Network/Digital cameras. Q. What is the Advantage of AHD camera? A. AHD (Analog High Definition) CCTV cameras are capable of capturing high definition video surveillance at up to 5MP resolution. These cameras are used with AHD DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) & have the convenience of plug and play installation. Cameras and DVR are connected through BNC(Bayonet Neill Concelman) cable which provides power to cameras & transfers feed to the DVR for recording, video & alarm management. Q: What cables are used in the installation of the AHD cameras? A: The installation of AHD cameras is done using coaxial cable. Q. What type of video connector do AHD security cameras use? A. Our security cameras have a female BNC connection. Q. What are WDR security cameras used for? A. A WDR camera (Wide Dynamic Range) is used for capturing images of objects surrounded by a strong backlight, while still keeping the background visible. A typical use for a WDR camera is capturing scenes indoors that have large windows in the background with lots of sunlight. A WDR camera would enable you to capture both the indoor and outdoor/background scene clearly. Q. What is WDR Technology? A. WDR technology uses a special high-speed sensor to make two consecutive image scans to one picture. Non-WDR cameras just make one pass. The first scan captures images in the normal light condition. Right after, the camera captures the second image at high speed to capture the images that are in the strong light. The image processor then superimposes the two video images to provide a single picture that can see all areas. Q: Will bright sunlight damage an infrared camera's LEDs? A: No, our infrared security cameras (which use LEDs) are designed for use in both low light and lit conditions, so sunlight will not damage them. The infrared LEDs stay off during the day while there is light outside and then turn on at night in the dark (when they sense low light). Q. Can our AHD Camera be used as analog CVBS/CVI/TVI camera? A. Yes, if an OSD joystick (switch/button) is added to camera cable, the user can switch between the camera modes - AHD/CVBS/CVI/TVI.

Q. Can video balun connectors be used to transmit the HD-AHD signal? A. Yes, a good quality passive video balun can transmit the HD-AHD signal. Q. Can AHD System use video balun connecting UTP to achieve signal transmission? A. Yes Q. How to switch between the modes - AHD, CVI, TVI, and CVBS for a 4 in 1 camera? A. The user can switch between the modes through OSD menu: Long press Right button- TVI Long press Up button- Analog Long press Down button- CVI Long press Left button- AHD Q. Can the AHD camera be connected to analog DVR? A. Yes, when switched to CVBS mode, the user can connect the AHD camera to analog DVR. Q. Can the user view the camera feed on mobile phone and computer? A. Yes, after connecting the camera to DVR, the user can view the camera through DVRs' network view function. Q. Which mobile application is used for live view through DVR? A. XVR mobile application for Android, it can be downloaded from the Play store. Q. What type of image sensor is used in AHD cameras? A. A CMOS sensor is used in AHD cameras. Q. What is CMOS? A. CMOS is an abbreviation for Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor. An Image sensor that converts light into electron. Q. What is the difference between CCD and CMOS? A. The main differences are: 1. CCD sensors create high-quality, low-noise images. CMOS sensors, traditionally, are more susceptible to noise. 2. Because each pixel on a CMOS sensor has several transistors located next to it, the light sensitivity of a CMOS chip tends to be lower. Many of the photons hitting the chip hit the transistors instead of the photodiode. 3. CMOS traditionally consumes little power. Implementing a sensor in CMOS yields a low-power sensor. CCDs use a process that consumes lots of power. CCDs consume as much as 100 times more power than an equivalent CMOS sensor. 4. CMOS chips can be fabricated on just about any standard silicon production line, so they tend to be extremely inexpensive compared to CCD sensors. Q. What is the size of sensor used in the AHD camera? A. The different sensor types in AHD cameras are: 1MP-1/4 HD-CMOS 1.3MP- 1/3 HD-CMOS 2MP- 1/2.9 HD-CMOS 3MP- 1/2.7 HD-CMOS

Q. What type of lens is used in AHD camera? What different categories? A. There are mainly two lens categories of AHD Camera - Fixed & Varifocal lens. Generally, a wide range of fixed lens like 3.6mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 12mm is used as per requirement. By default, a 3.6mm lens is used in all AHD cameras. Q. What is a Varifocal lens? A. A varifocal lens is a CCTV camera lens with variable focal length in which focus changes as focal length changes. A 2.8-12mm lens is used in varifocal AHD cameras. Q. What is ICR or IR cut filter? What is the function? A. An ICR (IR-Cut Filter Removable) is a mechanical shutter design placed between the lens and the image sensor and is controlled by a motor or an electromagnet. When the ICR is switched on, it blocks infrared light and allows only visible light to pass through. When the ICR is switched off, infrared light is allowed to pass and the images turn to black & white mode (more sensitive to infrared light). Q. What is DSP? A. Digital signal processing cameras use a DSP chip to digitize analog video streams. Analog video streams are generated by sensor, which DSP chips then convert into a digital video signal. DSP cameras provide a number of notable advantages over analog cameras, including increased brightness, added stability, greater sharpness and resolution, greater power efficiency, reduced sensitivity to noise and more. Q. Which type of LEDs is used in the AHD cameras? A. IR array LEDs is used in the AHD cameras. Q. What is IR LED or What is the Day/night feature of the AHD camera? A. An IR LED (Infrared Light Emitting Diode) is a solid-state lighting (SSL) device which emits light in the infrared range of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum. IR LEDs allow for cheap, efficient production of infrared light, which is electromagnetic radiation in the 700 nm to 1mm range. IR LEDs are used in a number of types of electronics, including many types of remote controls for televisions and other electronics. Used with infrared cameras, IR LEDs can act like a spotlight while remaining invisible to the naked eye. Q. What is the difference between IR/Array and normal LED? What are the benefits of IR/Array over LED? A. The main difference and the benefits of an IR/Array over LED are: 1. Long life. 2. High efficiency. 3. High brightness. 4. Even light. 5. Small size. Q. What DVR is required by the AHD cameras? A. AHD camera requires an AHD DVR of the compatible resolution. For example, a 3MP AHD camera will be supported by a 3MP DVR. Q. What is the Advantage of AHD camera? A. the advantages of an AHD camera are: 1. Wide range of resolution/s 2. Supports long transmission signal 3. Low cost

Q. Which cable type is used for connecting the AHD camera to the DVR? A. Coaxial cable is used for connecting the camera with the DVR. Most integrators use CCTV cable (3+1) which carries Video + Audio + DC power and has the limitation over long distance transmission due to the power and video signal drop. Q. What is the power requirement of the AHD Cameras? Which cable? A. All our AHD camera with 6 Array Led require a maximum of DC 12V/300mA power to run (at night-vision). As the cable distance increases, the power drops & power requirement increases. It is suggested to provide 1-ampere power/camera. Q. Sometimes rings are visible in the night vision mode, what might be the cause of the problem? A. Camera installation angle plays a crucial role. Users should ensure the dome camera cap does not come in front of array LEDs. AHD DVR Q. What is a DVR? A. A digital video recorder (DVR) is an electronic device that records video in a digital format to a disk drive. Q. What are the key features of our DVRs? A. Some of the key features are: 1.
