1 General Information In the case of a Panel PC IL, drivers which are not available as part of the operating system supplied must be installed. The driver installation is described for the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Microsoft Windows ME Microsoft Windows 2000 The installation of the operating system is not described. Note The information applies to the operating system languages German and English. The installation described below was tested on a Panel PC IL with a D1215-A2 system board. The scope of delivery of the SIMATIC Panel PC IL 70 includes the "PC IL 70 Documentation & Drivers" CD. 2 Installation of the Drivers Using MS Windows NT 4.0 In order to use the "PC IL 70 Documentation & Drivers" CD supplied properly, it is advisable to install the current Internet Explorer version and the latest Service Pack from Windows NT. Both can be found on the "PC IL 70 Documentation & Drivers" CD in the following paths: \updates\sp\nt4 for the Service Pack 6a \updates\ie\5.5 for Internet Explorer 5.5 Notice Please note that it is essential to install the Service Pack before Internet Explorer installation of IE 5.5 is based on a 128-bit coding. Installation of the Service Packs is no longer possible afterwards. When these conditions have been fulfilled on the PC, the drivers can be installed. Note It is recommended to copy the "MS Windows NT 4.0" directory \i386 from the CD to the root directory c:\i386 of your system data directory. The drivers for the graphics board are located under menu item Intel Chipset Graphics for Windows NT 4.0. 2. Select the required drivers from the corresponding operating system and start the installation by clicking on the icon. 3. The CD automatically starts Internet Explorer. The drivers for the ELO Touchscreen are located under the menu item ELO Monitor Mouse for Windows NT 4.0. 2. Start the installation by clicking on the icon. The files required for the installation are decompressed in c:\elont. 3. Change to the directory \elont in order to install the touchscreen software and execute the Setup. Notice During the installation, ensure that the serial interface COM 2 is defined as the interface for the ELO Touchscreen. Otherwise, the display will not be activated. The CD automatically starts Internet Explorer. The drivers for the Analog Devices AD188x Audio are located under menu item Analog Devices AD188x Audio for Windows NT 4.0. 2. Click on the Network neighborhood icon with the right mouse button on the desktop. 2. Select the menu item Properties. You are requested to install the NT Networking. 3. Click on the Yes button. 4. The system then requests information on how the computer is connected within the network. In most cases, it is necessary to select the Wired to the network check box. 5. A selection window then opens containing a range of network adapter cards from various manufacturers. 7. The files necessary are located on the "PC IL 70 Documentation & Drivers" CD supplied in the following path: \driver\nic\intel\pro100\v5.0 8. Enter the path specified and confirm it with OK. 9. Access the following configuration item by clicking on the Next button. 10. It is necessary to insert the Windows installation CD in the CD-ROM drive again. Note The necessary files are located in the directory c:\i386 if they were previously copied there (refer to the Note in Chapter 0). 12. Enter the path. In the next step, you must select whether the DHCP service should be activated. If a DHCP server is operated in your network, you can define whether your Panel PC IL should be allocated an IP address from such a DHCP server. Select the Yes button in order to activate the DHCP service. 14. Define the network settings in the Specify an IP address field. Insert the "PC IL 70 Documentation & Drivers" CD in the CD-ROM drive. The CD automatically starts Internet Explorer. 2. Open the Device Manager. The System Properties window contains the PCI Ethernet Controller device. 3. Select it and then click on the Properties button. Service Pack 2 is located on the "PC IL 70 Documentation & Drivers" CD. In order to install the necessary drivers in Windows 2000, select Start Settings Control Panel Display. The following window appears: The Plug & Play has recognized the device and entered the device in the Device Manager under the item Other devices but could not assign drivers to the device. These devices are identified by a question mark. Insert the "PC IL 70 Documentation & Drivers" CD in the CD-ROM drive. The CD automatically starts Internet Explorer.
