Instructions for use Set up Remove all packaging material from the Boom DAB and place on a stable, level surface Make sure that it is close to a mains socket, out of direct sunlight and away from sources of excess heat, dust, moisture, humidity, or a strong magnetic field Please only use the supplied adaptor. Attempting to operate this system from any other power source may cause damage to the system and invalidate your warranty Getting started 1. Plug the AC cord into the AC Socket (13) and connect the plug to a mains socket 2. The LCD Display (1) will light up and the Boom DAB will automatically enter standby mode 3. The Boom Dab works in 4 different languages. Please see Language to set up General operation Press and hold MFB (9) for 3 seconds to put the Boom DAB on Press and hold MFB (9) for 3 seconds to put the Boom DAB into standby mode To select or confirm settings, press MFB (9) To navigate between options, press the Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) Press Info (4) whilst on a station to display different information on DAB/FM function Press the Menu button (7) and select System to access system settings While in standby mode the LCD Display (1) backlight will be dimmed. During any mode, press any button once to turn on the LCD display backlight DAB mode Listening to DAB broadcast 1. Fully extend the Extendable Aerial (12) 2. Press Mode (10) until you reach DAB on the LCD Display (1) 3. The Boom DAB will automatically search for a station 4. Once scan is complete, the Boom DAB will select the first station on the list and will automatically set the time and date on the LCD Display (1) 5. To change station use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) 6. To select station please press MFB (9) once on desired station 7. If no stations are detected the LCD Display (1) will read NO DAB Station Note: Try another area if no station is found. Pre-setting stations in the DAB radio memory 1. In DAB playing mode, find the desired DAB station 2. Press and hold Preset (8) until PRESET STORE is shown and 1çemptyè will show on the display 3. Press Next Track (6) to choose the number you desire for this station and confirm 4. Repeat to store up to 20 stations in the memory Recalling DAB pre-set stations In DAB playing mode, press Preset (8) so that PRESET RECALL shows on the display, press Next Track (6) until you reach your desired station, and confirm the station. 4 5
DAB menu In DAB mode, press Menu (7) to enter DAB settings, and use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to scroll. 1. Full Scan Press MFB (9) to select and the Boom DAB will automatically scan all DAB stations 2. Manual tune DAB Press MFB (9) to select and the Boom DAB will start to automatically scan all DAB stations Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to display a specific channel/frequency Press MFB (9) to tune your desired station 3. Dynamic Range Compression (DRC) Press MFB (9) to select, and then again to select desired option (Off, Low and High) Press the Menu button (7) to go back to the Boom DAB screen 4. Removing DAB stations If a station shows up but the Boom DAB can t connect, you can delete these stations. Press the Menu button (7) Press MFB (9) to select Prune and press again to confirm Yes 5. System Press MFB (9) to select System Here you can change the sleep, alarm, time, and language settings, reset all settings, and find the software version FM mode Listening to FM radio 1. Fully extend the Extendable Aerial (12) 2. Press Mode (10) until you reach FM on the LCD Display (1) 3. Press and hold Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to search the station, and the Boom DAB will automatically stop on every station it finds 4. Short press Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) for fine tuning Pre-setting stations in the FM radio memory 1. In FM playing mode, find the desired FM station 2. Press and hold Preset (8) until PRESET STORE is shown and 1çemptyè will show on the LCD Display (1). Use Next Track (6) to choose the number you want for this station and confirm 3. FM menu In FM mode, press Menu (7) to enter FM settings, and use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to scroll. 1. Scan settings Press MFB (9) to select Scan setting, and press Next Track (6) to change between strong stations only, or all stations Press MFB (9) to confirm your selection 2. Audio settings Press MFB (9) to select Audio setting Press Next Track (6) to change between forced mono or stereo allowed Press MFB (9) to confirm your selection 3. System Press MFB (9) to select System Here you can change the sleep, alarm, time, and language settings, reset all settings, and find the software version Note: You should always be in stereo mode. Forced mono is used when you have a weak signal and the radio is struggling to connect. When this happens, you should change mode. Pairing and listening in Bluetooth mode 1. Press Mode (10) until you reach Bluetooth mode on the LCD Display (1) 2. The LCD Display (1) will flash Bluetooth Disconnected while looking for a device to pair with 3. Turn on your ios, Android, or Windows device s Bluetooth ON and search for new devices, and select the speaker name KS BOOMDAB from the list of found devices 4. If your device asks for a passkey then enter the digits 0000 and press OK 5. When pairing is successful the LCD Display (1) will flash Bluetooth Connected Note: If there is an existing wireless connection, press and hold Pair (8) for 3 seconds and it will break the current connection. To reconnect, refer back to Listening in Bluetooth mode. Note: Bluetooth is a trademark of Bluetooth SIG, Inc. This product is in no way affiliated or endorsed by Bluetooth SIG Inc. When connected via wireless, you can either control the music through your device or using the Boom DAB. If using the Boom DAB: Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to change song Press MFB (9) to play/pause your song Turn Volume (3) to increase or decrease the volume Aux-in mode 1. Press Mode (10) until you reach AUX on the LCD Display (1) 2. Plug one end of the aux cable into the Aux-in Port (14) and the other end into the aux-in port on your device 3. Play music through your device, and the sound will play through the Boom DAB Note: When connected via aux-in, you can only control the music through your device. Turn Volume (3) to increase or decrease the volume. 8 9
Sleep setting To send the Boom DAB to sleep at your chosen time: 1. Press Menu (7), and use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to scroll and press MFB (9) to select System 2. Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to scroll and press MFB (9) to choose Sleep 3. Find your desired sleep delay time (OFF, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90), and confirm your option by pressing MFB (9) 4. The sleep icon will show on the LCD Display (1) when on 5. When you do not want a sleep delay timer, select OFF Setting Alarm 1 To access the alarm feature, either press and hold the Alarm/Snooze button (11) for 3 seconds or press Menu (7), and use MFB (9) to select System and then Alarm. 1. Alarm 1 setup will be displayed, along with different options. Press MFB (9) to confirm each setting choice and to move onto the next stage 2. Press Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to adjust the hour, minutes, duration (90, 60, 45, 30 or 15) and source of the alarm (Buzzer, DAB or FM) DAB Choose from last listened, pre-set 1 or pre-set 2 FM Choose from last listened and pre-set 1 3. Set the alarm frequency (Daily, Once, Weekends, and Weekdays) 4. To confirm the alarm, press MFB (9) with the Alarm set to on. Alarm Saved will show on the LCD Display (1) 5. To cancel alarm, repeat the above process but when asked to confirm, choose Off and press MFB (9) to confirm Setting Alarm 2 1. Press and hold the Alarm/Snooze (11) for 3 seconds and press Next Track (6) to select Alarm 2 2. Follow instructions from Setting Alarm 1 Alarm/Snooze When the alarm sounds, you can either press and hold MFB (9) to cancel the alarm, or press the Alarm/Snooze button (11) to delay the alarm for another 10 minutes. If you keep pressing the Alarm/Snooze button (11) you can delay the alarm from a range of values from between 10, 15, 30 and 45 minutes. The snooze delay can be changed again during the count down, repeat the above process. To cancel the snooze countdown, press and hold MFB (9) for 3 seconds. Setting the time and date By default, the Boom DAB will automatically update the time through its DAB connection. However, you can still set the time manually. To do this: 1. Press Menu (7) and use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) until you find System. Press MFB (9) to confirm 2. Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to select Time and press MFB (9) to confirm 3. Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to adjust the hour, minute, year, month, and day 4. Press MFB (9) to confirm each setting and move onto the next stage 5. The time and date will now be set Note: Press Menu (7) to cancel the setup of the alarm. Note: The clock icon will always flash on the display during the alarm setting process. In alarm mode, if you don t begin setting the alarm within 3 seconds, the Boom DAB will exit alarm mode. 10 11
Language 1. Press Menu (7) and use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) until you find System. Press MFB (9) to confirm 2. Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) and then MFB (9) to select Languages 3. Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) until you find your desired language 4. Press MFB (9) to confirm Factory reset Doing a factory reset will completely wipe all saved data on the Boom DAB. It will reset all sleep settings, alarms, languages, time, date, and presets. 1. Press Menu (7) and use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) until you find System. Press MFB (9) to confirm 2. Press MFB (9) to select Factory Reset, use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to select Yes or No, and press MFB (9) to confirm 3. Restarting will appear on your Boom DAB and it will go back to standby mode Software (SW) version SW version shows you what software the Boom DAB is running on: 1. Press Menu (7) and use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) until you find System. Press MFB (9) to confirm 2. Use Next Track (6) or Previous Track (5) to select SW Version and press MFB (9) to confirm 3. Press Menu (7) to exit Care for your Boom DAB Please DON T Get the Boom DAB wet Drop the Boom DAB as this will invalidate your warranty Open up the Boom DAB.
