Introduction This document lists the hardware and software configurations on which you can install Aster Database version 6.20.04. Teradata provides customer support for clusters installed on the platforms listed in this document. Not all platforms have been tested and certified by Teradata. Those that have been tested and certified are listed below as Teradata Certified. Those platforms listed as Teradata Supported have not been fully tested in our labs, but we do support them. Except where noted otherwise, the queen, worker, and loader should use the same hardware configuration. Support for Teradata Aster Big Analytics Appliance 3 and 3H Teradata Aster Big Analytics Appliance 3 and 3H upgrades are only supported from Aster Database 6.10, Aster Database 6.20, Aster Database 6.20.01, Aster Database 6.20.02 or Aster Database 6.20.03 to Aster Database 6.20.04. Upgrades from versions prior to Aster Database 6.10 to versions later than Aster Database 6.10 are achieved by going to version 6.10 first, then upgrading beyond. Support for Teradata Aster Big Analytics Appliance 4 Teradata Aster Big Analytics Appliance 4 upgrades are only supported from Aster Database 6.10, Aster Database 6.20, Aster Database 6.20.01, Aster Database 6.20.02 or Aster Database 6.20.03 to Aster Database 6.20.04. Hardware Platform Specifications General Information (applies to all platforms): Hyperthreading: Teradata Aster recommends turning on Hyperthreading for better performance. Cluster sizing should still be done based solely on the number of physical cores. Each Xeon X5600 module has up to six physical cores. Quad core Xeon E5500 modules with four cores each are supported on older models. Disks: Use SAS disks only. SATA disks are not supported on any of the configurations. NICs: Ten Gigabit Ethernet recommended; 2x or 4x 1 Gigabit Ethernet supported on older platforms. Supported Operating Systems for Software-Only Installations The supported operating system depends on whether you are performing a new installation or an upgrade: New installations of Aster Database 6.20.04 must be installed on 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6, or 6.7, or 64-bit SLES 11 SP3 (Teradata-provided distribution only). Contact your Teradata representative or Teradata Global Technical Support (GTS). To upgrade clusters running on other operating system, contact your Teradata representative or Teradata Global Technical Support (GTS). Support for SSLv3 is discontinued in response to the POODLE vulnerability. Because this vulnerability is inherent in the protocol, the only way to address it is to remove support for it.
