CREATING STUDENT ACCOUNTS From your LabSim home page click the My Students tab. (Please note if you have a large class and prefer to import a class list skip directly to the section Importing a Class Roster.) 2
3 Click the Add button. Enter data in each field. The email field is optional. We recommend using students ID or email as their Login. You can use the same password for each student if preferred. Click Done. Create an account for each student before proceeding to the next step. OPTIONAL
CREATING CLASSES Students must be enrolled in a class in order to activate licenses and to view progress reports. Under the My Classes tab click Add. 4
Enter the Class Name. If your name doesn t appear in the Assigned Teacher field pick your name from the drop down list. Click the edit pencil next to the Associate LabSim Product(s). 5 Select the product(s) you are using for the class and click Done. It s important to note that there may be times when more than one version of the same course is available so you may need to click the box by Show all available versions to find the correct product.
6 Click the edit pencil next to Student Enrollment. From the student list click the + sign next to each respective student in the class. You may also use the Search box to quickly find students by either first or last name. Please note that the results are paginated so after you ve reached the bottom of one list click Next to move to another page. Once all the students are successfully enrolled click Done.
This now completes the Class Profile setup click Done to save. 7
8 IMPORTING A CLASS ROSTER If you created individual student accounts skip directly to the section Issuing Licenses. From the My Students tab click the Actions drop down list. Click Add students using a CSV file.
9 Read the detail carefully to ensure your document meets the criteria outlined. Below is a sample Excel file. The importer recognizes fields by name so the first line in the file is the name of that field. So for instance line A1 is the actual Student Name. Save the file in a csv format. (Only the minimally required fields are used in this example.)
10 Click the Browse button to select the import file. Select the file and click Submit File.
11 A new window will confirm that the import was successful. Click OK. From the My Classes tab click the class name.
12 Click the edit pencil next to the class name. Click the edit pencil next to the Associate LabSim Product(s).
Select the product(s) you are using for the class and click Done. It s important to note that there may be times when more than one version of the same course is available so you may need to click the box by Show all available versions to find the correct product. 13 This now completes the Class Profile setup click Done to save.
ISSUING LICENSES At this point student accounts should be setup and the students enrolled in a class(es). This last step activates the course so the students will have access to the LabSim product(s). Under the My Classes tab click the box(es) next to the class(es) you need to activate licenses for. Please note that licenses are typically issued by product title, so if you are using PC Pro and Network Pro for instance there should be two separate licenses. Therefore you will activate each class separately in this case. However, if you have two different classes both using PC Pro you are welcome to select both class boxes at the same time. 14
15 Click the Actions drop down list and click Activate Product. Find the respective license within the Product Activation window and click Activate.
16 Confirm you wish to activate this class by clicking Activate. This process activates all the students with the class(es). After the activation has completed the respective license will confirm Activated. The Used Activations and Available Activations will also update. This completes the entire setup process. Just remember you will need to provide the students with their login credentials.
