Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 4 of 22 Overview This document explains the tasks that you must perform to update your BlackBerry environment to support Daylight Saving Time (DST) 2007 changes. It also includes troubleshooting information to help you determine whether your environment has been updated successfully with the time zone information for DST 2007. Related resources Resource Information about applying the DST 2007 updates in your BlackBerry environment. Information about updating your Microsoft Exchange environment. Information about updating your IBM Lotus Domino environment. Information about updating your Novell GroupWise environment. Update each Microsoft Windows Server that is running Microsoft Exchange or the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. 2. Update the Microsoft Windows clients. 3. Update BlackBerry devices. 4. Run the RIM Set Send As Permission tool. 5. Apply the most recent Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the Microsoft Exchange Server. 6. Run a Microsoft calendar update tool (optional). Update the Microsoft Windows Server that is running Microsoft Exchange or the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Description Install the appropriate Microsoft Windows Update to update the time zone information. Adjust the time zone manually using the TZedit.exe application or by applying the appropriate registry keys. Visit www.microsoft.com to read article 914387 for more information.

Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 5 of 22 Update the Microsoft Windows clients Software Microsoft Windows XP SP2 Microsoft Windows 2000 Description Install the appropriate Microsoft Windows Update to update the time zone information. Adjust the time zone manually using the TZedit.exe application, by applying the appropriate registry keys, or by pushing the update to computers using group policy or Short Message Service (SMS) text messaging. Visit www.microsoft.com to read article 914387 for more information. Update BlackBerry devices The RIM DST 2007 patch is designed to update supported BlackBerry devices that require updated time zone information for DST 2007. If the patch detects that a BlackBerry device requires updated time zone information, it installs the correct time zone information and, if necessary, restarts the BlackBerry device. Restarting the BlackBerry device might result in the BlackBerry device being unavailable for use for up to 20 minutes. During the installation of the RIM DST 2007 patch, you might notice the following items: A 507 message might appear on the BlackBerry device; however, this is normal behaviour. The BlackBerry device will reset automatically and the installation should proceed successfully. See Determine if a BlackBerry device has been updated correctly on page 11 for more information. A Permissions have changed dialog box might appear on the BlackBerry device. This message appears when the software configuration for the RIM DST 2007 patch is more restrictive than the current configuration on the BlackBerry device. You must reset the BlackBerry device to apply the more restrictive configuration. The dialog box might also appear if the BlackBerry device does not currently have a software configuration assigned to it, and the software configuration for the RIM DST 2007 patch is more restrictive than the current default information on the BlackBerry device. The Enterprise Activation application indicates that the BlackBerry device is activating wirelessly. The RIM DST 2007 patch adds a new synchronization table to the BlackBerry device, and only this table is synchronizing wirelessly. After the synchronization is successful, the enterprise activation status appears as Activation OK. The following versions of the BlackBerry Device Software do not require an update: 4.1.0.375, 4.1.0.377, 4.1.0.378, and 4.2.1, or later. Updates are not currently available for BlackBerry Devices running BlackBerry Device Software versions earlier than 4.0. You can update all other versions of the BlackBerry Device Software using one of the following methods: User-initiated wireless update: Using the browser on their BlackBerry device, users can visit www.blackberry.com/dst2007 to download the appropriate RIM DST 2007 patch based on the version of BlackBerry Device Software that is running on their BlackBerry device. Administrator-initiated wireless update: You can push the RIM DST 2007 patch to all supported BlackBerry devices over the wireless network. User-initiated update using a computer: Using a browser on their computer, users can visit www.blackberry.com/dst2007 to download the appropriate RIM DST 2007 patch based on the version of BlackBerry Device Software that is running on their BlackBerry device.

Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 6 of 22 Run the RIM Set Send As Permission tool The Set Send As Permission tool is designed to fix an issue that prevents users from sending email messages. The new version of store.exe, which is bundled with the required CDO update, changes the necessary permissions. Run the RIM Set Send As Permission tool if your environment uses Active Directory. Before you apply the new CDO Version 6.5.7651.61 to Microsoft Exchange, run the RIM Set Send As Permission tool. To avoid network performance issues, run the RIM Set Send As Permission tool on a computer that is different from the computer on which the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is running. Visit http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/ to read the article User cannot send messages because the Send As permission has been revoked (KB04707) for more information about using the tool. Apply the most recent CDO to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the Microsoft Exchange Server CDO Version 6.5.7651.61 is available through a Microsoft Windows Update or from the Microsoft Download Center. Visit www.microsoft.com/downloads to read article 926666 for more information. Run a Microsoft calendar update tool (optional) The Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook update tools are designed to automatically update all appointments that are affected by the DST 2007 changes, and send updated appointment requests to the appointment participants for all updated appointments. You can use the Microsoft Exchange update tool to automatically update all appointments or only recurring appointments that a user has scheduled to start in the period of time affected by the DST changes. Users can use the Microsoft Outlook update tool to update any appointments that did not get updated by the Microsoft Exchange tool. Visit www.microsoft.com to read articles 930879 and 931667 for more information. Updating an IBM Lotus Domino environment Complete the tasks in the following order: 1. Update each Microsoft Windows Server that is running IBM Lotus Domino. 2. Update the Microsoft Windows clients. 3. Update BlackBerry devices. 4. Update the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino. 5. Configure IBM Lotus Domino and IBM Lotus Notes to use Microsoft Windows time zone information. 6. Run a customized IBM Lotus Notes script (optional).

Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 8 of 22 The following versions of the BlackBerry Device Software do not require an update: 4.1.0.375, 4.1.0.377, 4.1.0.378, and 4.2.1, or later. User-initiated update using a computer: Using a browser on their computer, users can visit www.blackberry.com/dst2007 to download the appropriate RIM DST 2007 patch based on the version of BlackBerry Device Software that is running on their BlackBerry device. Update the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version Description 4.0 SP5 and earlier There are currently no fixes planned for version 4.0 SP5 and earlier. 4.0 SP6 RIM plans to publish an SQL script for BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 SP 6 in early February at www.blackberry.com/dst2007. Run this script on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to update the time zone information in the SyncDeviceConfig table. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server uses the time zone information for internal time calculations. The BlackBerry Synchronization Service also transmits the time zone information to the BlackBerry devices that support wireless time zone updates. 4.1 SP1 Install BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP1 HF3 to update the time zone information in the DST table for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. 4.1 SP2 Install BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP2 HF3 to update the time zone information the DST table for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Configure IBM Lotus Domino and IBM Lotus Notes to use the Microsoft Windows time zone information You must perform this task on the IBM Lotus Domino server. Users must also perform this task on their IBM Lotus Notes clients. 1. Open the notes.ini file. 2. Verify that Use Operating System Time Zone is set to Yes. 3. Change UseNotesTimeZone=1 to UseNotesTimeZone=0.

Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 9 of 22 Run a customized IBM Lotus script (optional) You can customize a script that: updates all appointments organized by that user sends out appointment requests for all updated appointments to all attendees Visit www.ibm.com to read technote 1254639 for examples of the script. Determine if Microsoft Windows has been updated correctly Change the date and time This task applies to all versions of Microsoft Windows. 1. Set the clock manually to 1:59 AM on 11 March 2007 (the start of DST). Verify that the time changes from 1:59 AM to 3:00 AM. 2. Set the clock manually to 1:59 AM on 4 November 2007 (the end of DST). Verify that the time changes from 1:59 AM to 1:00 AM. 3. Change the date and time back to the correct date and time. If the change does not occur as described, Microsoft Windows has not been correctly updated. Check the registry This task applies to Microsoft Windows XP SP2, Microsoft Windows 2003, and Microsoft Windows 2000 (if Microsoft Windows 2000 was updated using the registry keys provided by Microsoft). 1. On the Start menu, click Run. 2. Type regedit. 3. Navigate to \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\Time Zones. 4. Verify that an updated North American time zone (for example, Eastern Standard time) contains a subfolder called Dynamic DST. If the subfolder exists, then Microsoft Windows has been updated correctly. Note: If you removed the Microsoft Windows Update, the folder with the new keys exists. Troubleshooting the RIM Set Send As Permission tool The RIM Set Send As Permission tool creates an output log file using the format SetSendAsPermission_Log_YYYYMMDD.txt. The file contains the following information: user s SMTP address, whether the Send as Permission for the user was updated successfully, and any errors that occurred while attempting to change the permissions for that user. You can create a second output file, which contains two columns in a comma-separated values format. The first column indicates whether the Send as Permission for the user was updated successfully. The second column contains the user s SMTP address.

Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 10 of 22 Determine if the CDO has been applied correctly to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the Microsoft Exchange Server Verify that the version of the CDO.dll file that is installed on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the Exchange Server is 6.5.7651.61 (the version contained in the most recent CDO). To check that the CDO is correctly registered with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, visit http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/ to read the KB article Check if and where the CDO.dll file is registered (KB04912). Determine if IBM Lotus Domino and IBM Lotus Notes have been updated correctly 1. Verify that the Microsoft Windows Servers and Microsoft Windows clients have been updated with the correct time zone information for DST 2007. 2. In the notes.ini file, verify that Use Operating System Time Zone is set to Yes and that UseNotesTimeZone=0 appears. Determine if the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino has been updated correctly Verify that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server SQL script was successful This task applies to BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.0 SP6 for IBM Lotus Domino. Only an administrator can run this script. If you are unsure whether the SQL script has been run, run it again. Because the script updates the time zone information in the SyncDeviceConfig table, running it again has no effect on any calendar entries. Verify that the appropriate hotfix is installed correctly This task applies to BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1 SP1 and SP2 for IBM Lotus Domino. 1. Log into the BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer. 2. On the Start menu, click Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. 3. Click BlackBerry Enterprise Server. 4. Click Click here for support information. 5. Verify that the version number matches the hotfix release (4.1.1 HF3 or 4.1.2 HF3).

Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 11 of 22 Determine if a BlackBerry device has been updated correctly Use the DST 2007 Query tool You can use the DST 2007 Query tool to determine the status of the RIM DST 2007 patch on users BlackBerry devices. You can download the tool from www.blackberry.com/dst2007. To avoid network performance issues, run the DST 2007 Query tool on a computer that is different from the one on which the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is running. The tool creates a file named DST2007Query_<service name>_<yyyymmdd>_<hhmm>_<n>.csv and saves it in the same folder in which the DST 2007 Query tool resides. The file contains the following information: display name, user name, service name, BlackBerry device version, platform version, DST 2007 patch version, patch status, last error code (if applicable), previous error code (if applicable), and the last HTTP response (for example a 404 message might appear, indicates that the RIM DST 2007 patch file was not found on the web site). A second log file, saved in the same folder in which the DST 2007 Query tool resides, contains debug and tracing information. When users download the RIM DST 2007 patch to the BlackBerry device, a table containing the status of the RIM DST 2007 patch is created in the patch backup and restore database. The patch backup and restore database synchronizes to the BlackBerry database in the SyncDeviceMgmt table. The DST 2007 Query tool queries this database to determine the status of the RIM DST 2007 patch on users BlackBerry devices. Note that the synchronization might be delayed by up to 10 minutes, so the status that the DST 2007 Query tool displays might not reflect the current status of all BlackBerry devices. The patch status column of the DSTQuery output file indicates whether the RIM DST 2007 patch has been installed successfully on a BlackBerry device. Status Applied No Device Info Error Awaiting Patch Helper not Installed Unsupported Version Patch not Required Description The RIM DST 2007 patch has been installed successfully on the BlackBerry device. The DST 2007 Query tool cannot detect the user s BlackBerry device in the BlackBerry Configuration Database. There was an error updating the BlackBerry device. See Check the BlackBerry event log on page 12 for more information. The RIM DST 2007 patch is installed on the BlackBerry device, but the BlackBerry device has not yet been updated with the DST 2007 changes. The DST 2007 Query tool did not detect the RIM DST 2007 patch on the BlackBerry device. The DST 2007 Query tool detected an unsupported version of BlackBerry Device Software running on the BlackBerry device. The BlackBerry device will not be updated with the DST 2007 changes. The BlackBerry device does not require an

Updating your BlackBerry Environment to Support DST 2007 Changes 12 of 22 update to the time zone information for DST. Check the BlackBerry event log The event log on the BlackBerry device provides information about the status of the RIM DST 2007 patch and any specific issues that have occurred. To access the event log, on the BlackBerry device, press the Alt key and type lglg. The event log ID on the BlackBerry device appears as tzotapatcher - <code> where <code> is one of the following 4-digit values: Value Important events 0x01 0x02 0x03 0x04 0x05 0x06 0x07 0x08 0x09 0x10 0x11 0x12 0x13 0x14 0x15 0x16 0x17 0x18 0x0A 0x0B 0x0C 0x0D Warnings 0x41 0x42 Description EVENT_CONTACTING_WEBSITE EVENT_READING_PATCH_DETAILS EVENT_DOWNLOADING_PATCH EVENT_DOWNLOAD_UPDATE EVENT_RESUMING_PATCH EVENT_DOWNLOAD_COMPLETE EVENT_INSTALLING_PATCH EVENT_ABORT EVENT_PATCH_ALREADY_PRESENT EVENT_USING_MDS EVENT_USING_PUBLIC_MDS EVENT_USING_TCP_IP EVENT_USING_WAP EVENT_SLEEPING EVENT_PATCH_INSTALLED_NO_RESET_REQUIRED EVENT_NOT_YET_PATCHED_STARTING EVENT_NOT_YET_PATCHED_NOT_RUNNING_USER_MODE EVENT_PATCH_INSTALLED_USER_NOT_RESETTING EVENT_PATCHER_EXITING EVENT_PATCH_INSTALLED EVENT_PATCH_STARTING EVENT_NO_COVERAGE EVENT_WARNING_DOWNLOAD_FAILED EVENT_WARNING_SLEEPING_WAITING_FOR_FLASH_FREE
