Installation and Management s Device Registration Service (DRS) Embedded Licensing A new shared service has been added to Equitrac to handle the deployment, configuration and un-installation of the new unified embedded PCC client. The DRS service is also used with Nuance AutoStore and Output Manager applications. The version of DRS that supports this new unified embedded PCC client is DRS version 7.6 The standard Equitrac embedded license is used to license the embedded PCC client on a per device basis. If Equitrac advanced scanning is required, then the standard Capture & Send license is also required on a per device basis. Please note that an AutoStore embedded license is also required to use this unified client with AutoStore With the first release of the Ricoh PCC 5 embedded application, some functionality that was available in the Java version of PCC 4.2.x is not available in this first This includes: Native fax tracking Biostore Authentication Add an External Application to the Nuance Launcher (e.g. GlobalScan NX) Support for external keyboards In addition, with the latest technology and platform, some functionality that was available in the Java version of PCC 4.2.x is no longer required as this is now either available in the platform or is provided by the server application. This includes: Session timers are now controlled by the Ricoh device Deletion of the PCC Admin web page (now handled via DRS) Some PCC scan workflows settings such as Skip Prompts and Auto Done are no longer required as the scan workflow is now handled via the Ricoh Scan Framework. With the new User Interface there was no available real estate to add a customized logo Page 6 of 10
4 Known Issues The following list contains the known issues in this release: 4.1 AutoStore 4.2 Equitrac ID Manifestation Resolution 02337 In the Scanning Settings section, the Compression Level and Compression Method settings allow you to select Allow Changes, but this option can t be changed on the device at run time. ID Manifestation Resolution 02649 If a timeout occurs while scanning, you might not be able to start the scan workflow again, or close the launcher and start another workflow. 02699 If the connection to the DCE1 is lost, and a user tries to start scanning, the warning messages disappear before they can be read. 02934 If offline behavior is set to allow all, cards that haven t been cached on the device cannot log in when the UI is in offline mode. 4186 After logging out, the Session Summary screen flashes without showing the page details. 4285 When scanning documents with more than 30 pages, the job ends and the scan isn t listed on the Session Summary screen. In some cases, you might receive a scan failure message. This issue is being investigated by Ricoh. Page 7 of 10
4.3 Ricoh ID Manifestation Resolution 02632 If you scan a document as a JPEG, the output might be rotated. 02649 If a timeout occurs while scanning, you might not be able to start the scan workflow again, or close the launcher and start another workflow. This is a device limitation. To be addressed in a future This issue is being investigated by Ricoh. 4225 The Print Purge option is not supported. To be fixed in a future 4.4 Server The following issues are server-related, but were observed while testing PCC5. 4.4.1 AutoStore server Nuance ID Manifestation Resolution 02278/022 90/02359 If the Allow Changes option is disabled, some options in AutoStore can still be changed on the device at run time. 4.4.2 Equitrac server 4.5 Notes Nuance ID Manifestation Resolution 02568 Different scans from the same workflow within the same session might be tracked differently. Quick Shortcuts are an Equitrac server feature. Quick Shortcuts won t appear on the Welcome or Login screens when AutoStore is used. Single Sign-On works but GSNX workflows as a destination cannot be configured on Launcher or on shortcuts. You cannot attach the card reader to the USB port on the body of the printer. Some scanning options are different between the MP C306z / MP 406z models and other supported models. Page 8 of 10
5 Installation Requirements 5.1 Supported Ricoh MFPs At initial release, this client works with a Ricoh MFP that supports the Smart Operations Panel/G2.1, including: [A4 color] MP C306z, MP C406z [A3 color] MP C3004/C3504/C4504/C5504/C6004 [A3 color] MP C2004/C2504 [A4 b&w] MP 305+ [A4 b&w] MP 501/MP 601 [A3 b&w] MP 6503/MP 7503/MP 9003 Please review the supported model matrix for updates when new models are released: https://nuanceimaging.custhelp.com/app/imaging/supported_devices?mfr=7 5.2 Ricoh Firmware This client supports Ricoh firmware V1.09 or later. 5.3 Nuance PCC5 version The latest Smart SDK for this release is 1.14.308. 5.4 Supported Nuance Servers Equitrac Office / Express 5.6 or later with EQ-HF-260262-SysMan or later, EQ-HF- 259694-DCE or later, and EQ-HF-256465-CAS or later AutoStore 7.0 SP1 Patch 1 or later DRS 7.6 This client is unified and can support multiple Nuance product servers individually or simultaneously. The client can act as an Authentication Agent or run as a regular application on the Smart Operations Panel. Ricoh MFPs manage two timers: the session timer and the reset timer. The reset timer is tied to the MFPs Priority Application setting. When this client is the authentication agent, the session timer logs out inactive sessions appropriately, and the reset timer (Priority Application) is redundant and should not be set. In theory, the reset timer (Priority Application) could be set for AUTH=OFF scenarios to automatically start the client during periods of inactivity. Currently, Nuance doesn t support the ability to use the reset timer (Priority Application) for deployments where the client is not the authentication agent. At this time, we recommend that you don t set the client as the priority application for any deployment configurations. Page 9 of 10
Scenario EO/EE AutoStore Authentication Agent Equitrac standalone Yes Yes (PCC5) AutoStore standalone Yes No (no device locking) Equitrac and AutoStore Yes Yes Yes 6 Best Practices For Equitrac, it is recommended that you don t add Quick Shortcuts to the Launcher container, as you might experience an infinite navigation loop. It is recommended that you set the wiring and set the home key assignment before you restart after installation. If you unassigned the home key, you need to restart before you can log in again.
