Chapter 2. Installation 2.1 Hardware Installation a. Please shut down your computer before you plug in this board b. Open the computer case. c. Plug the VCDProducerPro board in a free PCI slot. Vin 1 & 2 : for composite video input from your video source Sin : S-VHS video input from your video source Ain : Audio input from your audio source. Audio out from Sound card 4
Chapter 2. Installation 2.2 Software Installation 2.2.1. Turn on your computer. 2.2.2. Upon plug the board into your computer, system will automatically detect the new device; Click " Next " 2.2.3. Select " Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) "; Click " Next " 5

Select " Specify a location ", type "E:\VCDProducerPro\Driver\winMe_98_95" if your system is win95/98 or Me; * type "E:\VCDProducerPro\Driver\win2000_XP" if your system is win2000 or XP and insert "Multimedia Installation Kit" CD-ROM into your CD- ROM drive; Click " Next ". 2.2.5. System found the device driver; Click " Next " and it will install the driver. 6
Chapter 2. Installation 2.2.6. Please click " Finish " to complete the driver installation 2.2.7. Install application software Please run "E:\VCDProducerPro\AP software\setup.exe" 2.2.8. Follow the instruction to finish Application software installation. 7
Chapter 3. Operating 3.1 Starting To start the program, you can click the VVmer VCDProducer icon show on the screen or execute "Start -> Programs -> VVmer VCDProducer-> VVmer VCDProducer". When the program has started, you will see the display windows as below. Minimize : Minimize the screen Snap Shot : Capture a single frame Record : Capture video and audio and encode them in MPEG1 format. Play : Playback the MPG file. Setup : Set configuration for video, audio and recording About : Show the version information. Exit : Exit this application. Status Bar : Show current video status and time. Volume Control : Increase and decrease the sound volume. 8
Chapter 3. Operating 3.2 Snap Shot Click on this button to capture still image. (You can concurrently own five SnapShot windows) Also you can choose save or cancel the file 3.3 Record Clicking on this button puts into the recording mode, which is used for motion capturing. At recording mode, can t change any parameters. In recording mode, you can click the Stop button to stop the recording. Recording file will save as MDDHHMMNN.xxx automatically according your recording day/time. M : Current month; from 1 to 9, Oct->O, Nov->N, Dec->D DD : Today; from 01 to 31 HH : Hour; from 01 to 24 MM : Minute; from 01 to 60 NN : From 1,2 if you make a couple of times recording during same minute. xxx : Extension name; Depend on your setup for file format. There are MPG,MPV and MP2 3.4 Play Clicking on this PLAY button puts into the Playing Mode, At playing mode, there is a slide bar. It is easy to display anywhere of previous recorded files. In Playing mode, you can click the Resume Button to stop the playing of the file and return to Preview mode 9
Chapter 3. Operating 3.5 Setup When you click on this button, it will bring up a windows dialog box to adjust configuration. These parameters can be divided into the four groups: General, Record, Display and SnapShot 3.5.1 General Parameters 10
Chapter 3. Operating Here, you can set the Video Standard, Video Source, Work Directory and Logo File Video Standard : Please chooses which video system input. Video Source : Please choose correct input port you connect and operate Work Directory:It is the location where will save the recording file Logo File : It is the location where the logo file is. Display : You can select to display this logo on the video or not. *This logo can accept 96x32 pixel YUV format, and background is black color only; you can use bmp2yuv.exe(this file under VCDProducer directory) to convert BMP format to YUV format, but you have to run bmp2yuv file in DOS mode. 3.5.2 Recording Parameters Mode : You can choose record Video only, Audio only or Video with Audio 11

Operating Video Size : This defines the motion capture size SIF 352x240 at 30fps(NTSC) 352x288 at 25fps(PAL/SECAM) QSIF 176x120`at 30fps(NTSC) 176x144 at 25fps(PAL/SECAM) VCD : When you choose it, the motion capture is 1.15Mb/sec for standard VCD file; If you want make Video CD, please choose it(default) Duration : It is used to set the desired length of a recording time. BitRate Adjustment : You can move to high bit rate for good display quality, but it is not standard VCD specification, it may cause some MPEG player software can not play it. 3.5.3 Display Parameters : There are four adjustments:brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Hue. 3.5.4 Snap Shot Parameters SnapShot Type:This define the still image capture files format SnapShot Sizes :This defines the still image capture sizes Full Size 704x480 (NTSC); 704x576 (PAL/SECAM) SIF 352x240 at NTSC; 352x288 at PAL/SECAM QSIF 176x120 at NTSC; 176x144 at PAL/SECAM 12

Operating 3.6 About of 3.7 Full Screen Clicking on this button opens the dialog that shows the information software version If you press the Enter key, you can switch the normal screen and full screen mode. In the full screen mode, it will appear the function menu as below if you press the mouse right key. 3.8 Hot-key Ctrl + F9 : Switch LOGO display on/off Ctrl + F10 : Video source switch (Preview mode only) Ctrl + F11 : Snap Shot Ctrl + F12 : Record/stop Ctrl + < : Volume down Ctrl + > : Volume up 3.9 Exit Clicking on this button to exits program. 13
Chapter 4. Trouble Shooting Q1 : Why can not see any picture but Video source error! Please check source or setting error message show on the screen? A1 : There are two issue will meet this problem. (1) The video is not attached correctly to the device. The really video input doesn t match the setting of application. Please check which video input you connect, please refer 2.1 Hardware Installation and 3.5.1 General Parameters to make setup correctly (e.g. if you connect to Vin1 of Board, your setup must choose Vin1) (2) The video source is really bad (a lot of out-of-sync). System can not detect the video well. Please check your video source to get good signal. Q2 : Why can not see any picture when recording? A2 : If you operating system is Windows 95, you should forgot to install the Microsoft DirectX Media Runtime Installation. You can download the news version from http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/ Q3 : Why can not see any picture but blue frame only at preview mode or Video Err-Routime Error show on screen? A3 : It may be your VGA card does not support DirectDraw very well. You can try some solution as below. (a) Download your VGA card latest driver. (b) Modify the registry key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \VCDProducer\VCDProducer\DrawMethod,value to 1. (c) Change your VGA mode clor bit, e.g. from 24bit to 16bit. Then restart the application. Q4 : Why can not hear anything when preview/recording mode? A4 : (1) Check the cable connection; video source audio out to Ain of card, please refer to 2.1 hardware Installation. (2) Check speaker connection. (3) Please check your sound card status by window's volume control panel, maybe you mute the sound(please close the VCDProducerPro software and play your sound card only to test sound card work or not) If the problem still exists, please try as below (4) 15
Chapter 4. Trouble Shooting (4) Please close the VCD Producer application and modify the registry key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VCDProducer\ VCDProducer \PlayPCM, value to 0. Then restart the application. Q5 : Why can not hear anything after playback MPEG file? A5 : (1) Please check page 11 Recording parameter 3.5.2, make sure recording include audio. (2) Please check your sound card recording function, (close the VCDProducer software and make recording testing of your sound card Q6 : How can I get best performance in recording mode? A6 : The best performance recording depend on computer system performance, but you also can make some step as below to make better. (1) Keep Hardisk space larger. (2) Make your hardisk drive DMA active; Go to My Computer ->Control Panel->System->Device Manager->Disk drives ->GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE47->Properties->Settings, click DMA. (3) Use speed more than 7200 Rotation hardisk drive (4) Disable Power Management in BIOS (5) Disable Power Saving mode of monitor (6) Close some resident programs of your system (7) Restruct your hardisk (8) Do not run other program during recording Q7 : How to completity uninstall the software? A7 : (1) Run "Uninstall VCDProducer" program. (2) Delete Windows\System\Zkmpj.vxd (3) Delete Windows\Inf\Other\VVmer Technology Corp. ZKMPJPCI.INF (4) Remove My Computer\Control Panel\System\Device Manager\ Sound,video and game Controllers\VCDProducer(Pro) 16
Chapter 4. Trouble Shooting Q8 : How can I record to a Video CD from MPEG file and play in stand alone VCD player? A8 : If you want record to a video CD, and play at your home VCD player, you must be noted as below. (1) You can not just copy the MPEG file to a CD ROM, like you treat normal file record to a CD. this way you use is only MPEG file in your CD ROM, no any other video CD information, the Stand alone VCD player unknowen the MPEG file, so you will not have correct video display. (2) Most CD-RW drive bundled burnning software, and most burnning software can convert MPEG file to VCD format( x.dat), so when you do such record(burnning) action, please make sure your burnning software has a selection for video CD recording(burnning) (3) Pleae make sure your video recording is stand VCD format (page 11, 3.5.2) Q9 : Why Video ERR_RUNTIM_ERROR error message show on the Screen in recording mode? A9 : When VCDProducerPro start work, it will check all video and audio, if VCDProducerPro check any mistake about video and audio, then the error message will show. You have to install sound card driver(this driver must provided by sound card). 17
