CIVSEC 2018 CONGRESS PROGRAM The CIVSEC 2018 Congress will host a suite of parallel conferences across the spectrum of national and civil security issues and associated technological developments. Civil Security in the 21st Century The centrepiece of the CIVSEC 2018 Congress, this comprehensive international conference is presented by Industry Defence and Security Australia Limited, with the theme Rise of the Cities - the civil security challenges of 2020 and beyond and covering:- Human Security - Addressing international terrorism, organised crime and extremism Cyber Security - Updates on the progress and challenges of the Australian Cyber Security Policy Social Media - In an inter-connected on-line world how do we use, protect and maximise the positive side of social media while avoiding the negative impacts? ANZPAA Policing Conference 2018 Presented by the Australia and New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA), on behalf of the Police Commissioners of Australia and New Zealand, the theme of this high-level conference of police force leaders will be Modern Challenges for Policing 2018-2023 Innovation Science and Technology for Civil and National Security Hosted by the Australian Government s National Security Science and Technology Centre (NSSTC), this international conference will focus on the S&T requirements of the Australian border protection, law enforcement, intelligence and policy agencies and the police force first responders of the Australian and New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee. The NSSTC has responsibility to coordinate Australia s whole-ofgovernment requirements for national security S&T and to foster international research collaboration, particularly through its partnerships with the Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) and the Department of Homeland Security in the US, Defence Research and Development Canada and the Home Office in the UK. Unmanned Systems in Civil Security Presented by the Australian Association of Unmanned Systems (AAUS), Drones in Civil Security will address the utility of Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS) and other unmanned and autonomous systems in the security domain, including regulatory and communications/cyber issues for operators.
