1. Starting the software Please double-click "GigaCam" shortcut on screen or click Windows "Start" button -> "Programs(P)" -> "Hitachi_Kokusai_Electric_Inc" -> "Hitachi_GigE" -> "GigaCam". Following dialog appears and the name of NIC is displayed if driver is installed. 1 2 3 4 5 6 [Explanation of each part] 1Search for connected devices : Search and display connected cameras (see page 4). 2Open selected device : Open the selected camera (see page 5). 3IP Setting : Set IP address of the camera (see page 23). 4Grabber configuration : Display grabber configuration dialog (see page 24). 5About GigaCam : Display version information dialog. 6Exit GigaCam : Exit the software. 3/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

2. Discovery the Camera Please click the "Search for connected device. ---> If.successful, Vender name and Camera name appear in the "Devices" tree. The displayed icon varies according to connection status of the camera. : The camera can be opened. : The camera is used by other software. -> Only grabbing multicast streaming data can be used. : The IP address of the camera does not match the subnet of the NIC. -> Unusable. ---> If failure, the "Devices" tree does not change. 4/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

3. Open the Camera Please select the device you would like to open in the device tree and click "Open selected device". 5/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

Image setting When the "Image setting" of the menu "Tools" is clicked, the image setting dialog appears. 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 [Explanation of each part] 1OFFSET X / OFFSET Y : Setting of grabbing starting position IMAGE WIDTH / IMAGE HEIGHT : Setting of grabbing size 2PARITAL SCAN : If checked, frame rate is increased according to IMAGE HEIGHT 3PIXEL FORMAT : Setting of pixel format (ex. Mono8, RGB8Packed) 4BINNING MODE (only for Black & White camera) : If checked, 2 acceleration output by vertical two pixel addition 5FRAME RATE : Setting of frame rate from 7 (maximum is different in each camera) 6CURRENT FPS : Current frame rate is displayed by pressing the "READ" button. 7PACKET DELAY : Setting of the inter packet delay. Note: reefer to "KP-F_D_XXGV_OperatioManual_E.pdf" for actual delay time. 8PACKET SIZE : Setting of the packet size of image data. When pressing the "OPTIMAL" button, it is set to optimal value under connection environment. When "OK" is clicked, dialog is closed and image setting is changed. 6/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

5. Configurable value is according to buffer size (refer to page 17). 2MULTI SHOT : The number of frames specified by 1 is captured when this is checked. 3IMAGE MEMORY : It is possible to change the displayed image stored in memory by scroll bar or buttons. *The role of each buttons / : It starts / stops image reproduction. It repeats image reproduction when REPEAT is checked. / : Move to head / end frame. / : 10 frames moves forward / backward. *This function is equipped in version 1.0.10.0 or more. The number of frames stored in memory is decided by image size and pixel format. 4SAVE : The displayed image is saved in BMP or PNG file. 5MULTI SAVE : All stored images are saved in BMP file in the selected folder. *This function is equipped in version 1.0.9.0 or more. 7/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

When the icon of toolbar or "Fit to Window" of the menu "View" is clicked, the image size is changed according to window size. This function can be toggled on/off. When the icon of toolbar or "Actual size" of the menu "View" is clicked, the image size is changed to actual size. When the icon of toolbar or "Rotate Left" of the menu "View" is clicked, the image rotates 90 degrees to the left. *This function is equipped in version 1.0.9.0 or more. When the icon of toolbar or "Rotate Right" of the menu "View" is clicked, the image rotates 90 degrees to the right. *This function is equipped in version 1.0.9.0 or more. When the icon of toolbar or "Zoom In" of the menu "View" is clicked, the image is zoomed to maximum 400%. When the icon 10%. of toolbar or "Zoom Out" of the menu "View" is clicked, the image size is reduced to minimum When pixel format is Bayer8RG/Bayer10RG/Bayer12RG: if select "Bayer" -> "Raw" of the menu then RAW data is displayed if select "Bayer" -> "Color" of the menu then RAW data is converted to color image and color image is displayed. "PLAYING" and number of grabbing frame are displayed while image is grabbing. Moreover, present grabbing frame number, image size (display magnification), angle, pixel format, frame rate and pixel information pointed by mouse are displayed. 8/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

6. Camera control When the icon of toolbar or the "KP-FD33GV controls" (this item name is changed by the connected camera) of the menu "Tools" is clicked, the camera control dialog appears. 6-1. When "PRESET" is pressed, all setting is returned to factory setting. : All setting can be stored to 1 to 4 memory channel of the camera. : Displayed settings are read from the camera. : Camera control dialog is closed. 9/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

EXTRA2 1 2 4 3 [Explanation of each part] 1WHITE SPOT CORRECTION : Setting of white spot correction MODE OFF : Correction is not performed ON : Pixels recognized as white spot are corrected ADDRESS : Display address of pixel recognized as white spot (HV-F202GV does not display it) 2LIMIT OF AUTO GAIN : Setting of adjustable range of AGC (auto gain) LOWER LIMIT : Lower limit of adjustment of electric sensitivity when AGC is on UPPER LIMIT : Upper limit of adjustment of electric sensitivity when AGC is on 3LIMIT OF AUTO SHUTTER : Setting of adjustable range of AES (auto shutter) LOWER LIMIT : Lower limit of adjustment of electric shutter when AES is on UPPER LIMIT : Upper limit of adjustment of electric shutter when AES is on 4BALANCE ADJUST (only for 5M) : Adjustment of sensitivity of right and left MODE OFF : No adjustment for the balance of right and left screen MANUAL : Adjustable by manual operation AUTO : Auto adjustment RIGHT GAIN : Adjust gain of right screen when MODE is MANUAL RIGHT BLACK : Adjust offset level of right screen when MODE is MANUAL 12/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

TRIGGER 1 2 3 [Explanation of each part] 1TRIGGER : Setting of external trigger functions MODE OFF : It is not used external trigger FIXED : It is Fixed shutter mode ONE : It is One trigger mode VD : It is VD reset mode SOURCE 7 PIN : Trigger signal is inputted from No.7 pin of DCIN/SYNC connector. 9 PIN : Trigger signal is inputted from No.9 pin of DCIN/SYNC connector. SOFTWARE : Software trigger. POLARITY : Select FALLING EDGE or RISING EDGE DELAY : Setting of trigger delay RESET CONTROL : Setting of Reset control mode (available when MODE is FIXED or ONE) 2OUTPUT SETTING : Setting of output signal from No. 10 pin of DCIN/SYNC connector MODE OFF : Nothing is output STROBE : Strobe signal (flash pulse) is output VD : Camera VD is output INVERT : Select TRUE then output signal is inverted DELAY : Setting of strobe delay WIDTH : Setting of strobe width 3SOFTWARE TRIGGER SIGNAL : Setting of software trigger signal 13/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

LOOK-UP TABLE (only for HV-F202GV) *This function is equipped in version 1.0.9.7 or more. 5 1 2 3 4 [Explanation of each part] 1STEP : Step of maker points. 2PRESET : Default data. γ= 0.45 : Set "γ= 0.45" to the graph. γ= 1.0 : Set "γ= 1.0" to the graph. 3COLOR : Select available color and camera setting. ALL/R/G/B : Select color channel to configure. READ : Read LUT data of the selected color from the camera. WRITE : Write LUT data of the selected color to the camera. 4CSV DATA : LUT data storage using CSV file. OPEN : Open CSV file from the PC and change the graph. SAVE : Save current LUT data to the PC in CSV format. 5MODIFIED : It is checked when difference between camera data and displayed graph data. 14/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

7. Manual command When "Manual command" of the menu "Tool" is clicked, following dialog appears. It is possible to operate camera functions by using GenICam command or accessing to camera register directory. 1 2 3 [Explanation of part] 1GenICam COMMAND NAME VALUE READ WRITE EXECUTE : Functions of the camera are operated by using GenICam command. : Enter name of GenICam command to operate. : Enter * Enter form according to command type. Type is Integer -> integer value Type is Float -> real value Type is String -> string Type is Boolean -> 0 or 1 : The value of COMMAND NAME command is read by pressing this button : The value of VALUE is written to COMMAND NAME command by pressing this button. : COMMAND NAME command is executed by pressing this button. 15/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

2REGISTER ACCESS ADDRESS (HEX) DATA (HEX) READ WRITE DATA (FLOAT) WRITE (FLOAT) BYTE WRITE (HEX) WRITE (ASCII) 3EXTRA C_READ / C_WRITE : It is possible to access the register of the camera directly. : Enter address to read or write by hexadecimal number up to 4 byte. : READ result is displayed by 4 byte hexadecimal number. Enter hexadecimal number up to 4 byte into lower column to write. : When this button is pressed, read from camera and return value is displayed at edit box of DATA. : When this button is pressed, the value of DATA (HEX) is written to the camera. : When the value received from camera is FLOAT type, it is displayed by the real number. : When this button is pressed, the value of DATA (FLOAT) is written to the camera. : The read number of byte is decided. : Numeric data of 4 byte or more is written to camera. : ASCII data of 4 byte or more is written to camera. : 5 pairs of address and data can be memorized. : EXTRA READ/WRITE operate continuously. 16/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

8. Other tools Waveform monitor When "Waveform" of the menu "Tool" is clicked, waveform dialog appears. Histogram When "Histogram" of the menu "Tool" is clicked, histogram dialog appears. Vector scope When "Vector scope" of the menu "Tool" is clicked, vector scope dialog appears (only for color camera). 17/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

Still image saving When "Save snapshot" of the menu "Tools" is clicked, the still image can be saved as following data format. 24bit BMP 256 color BMP (256 color gray scale) PNG (8bit / 16bit) Vide saving *This function is equipped in version 1.0.9.0 or more. When "AVI Output" of the menu "Tools" is clicked, the moving image can be saved as AVI format. (1) Input the number of frames to save. (2) When check "SET", capture time is calculated. (3) When check "REC" and start grabbing, specified number of frames are grabbed. When capture is finished, "SAVE" button is enabled 18/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

(4) When specify destination to save and press "SAVE", save will start. Progress is displayed. (5) When save is finished, message appears. "E" means that save is finished. 19/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

Camera control When "Device Parameteres... " of the menu "Tools" is clicked, the Device Configuration dialog appears. All camera parameters can be configured by GenICam. 20/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

Each item can be controlled by GUI. *This function is equipped in version 1.0.9.0 or more. Integer item controlled by slider bar or input value Enumeration item is controlled by combo box Boolean item is controlled by check box Command item is controlled by push button Other items are controlled by input value or string. 9. Options Various options can be set by "Options" of the menu. Image Timeout Timeout setting can be set (default: 15000 ms). Image Buffer Size: Image buffer size used at multi frame grabbing (default: 50MB). Multicasting address..: It is used when image data is delivered to two or more PCs by multicast (refer to Appendix C). 22/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

APPENDIX A - Setting of IP address and Subnet mask of the camera The IP SETTING dialog appears when select the camera name to be set and click "IP Setting". The IP SETTING dialog can also be appeared by selecting the popup menu from right clicking the camera name. The IP SETTING dialog appears and set IP ADDRESS ad SUBNET MASK of camera. IP address and subnet mask of the port where the camera is connecting Present IP address and subnet mask of the camera Input IP address and subnet mask to be set Input IP address and subnet mask are set to the camera Note: Different according to whether FIXED IP is checked or not checked Checked: IP address and subnet mask are stored even though it turns off Unchecked: IP address and subnet mask are erased when it turns off (It becomes Automatic setting) Note: This item cannot be set when camera name is displayed with. APPENDIX C - Multicast Image data of one camera can be delivered to two or more PCs as following figure. The primary application can only control the Camera and Start/Stop Since Secondary application only grab streaming image data. APPENDIX D How to allow GigaCam to communicate through Windows firewall When GigaCam is started, a Windows alert dialog will appear if setup of firewall is not disabled (or cannot be disabled). Windows XP/Vista When click "Unblock", When click "Keep Blocking" or "Ask Me Later", since the Firewall blocking is not be canceled following error message is displayed when camera is opened and picture grabbing becomes impossible. Specify GigaCam to allowed programs of Firewall according to following procedure to cancel the Firewall blocking. 27/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

(1) Opening "Window Firewall" dialog Open the "Control Panel" and click "Security Center" -> "Windows Firewall". 28/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

(2) Allowing communication through Windows Firewall Move the "Exceptions" tab and check "GigaCam" in the "Programs and Services:" and press "OK". Change the tab Place a check mark 29/33 Hitachi Kokusai Electric Inc.

Windows Vista / 7 When click "Allows access", the Firewall blocking is canceled and GigaCam can be use normally. If click "Cancel", since the Firewall blocking is not be canceled following error message is displayed when camera is opened and picture grabbing becomes impossible.
