SUPERSAVER Energy Efficiency Optimization Software for Freecooling Systems

SUPERSAVER Supersaver Delivers Enhanced Freecooling Efficiency via Integrated Vertiv ICOM Communication Supersaver is the Vertiv ICOM embedded software function which leverages the LAN communication between freecooling chillers and chilled water air conditioning units, in order to increase the efficiency of the complete cooling system. The energy saving benefits of this function are further enhanced when Supersaver is applied to data center environments in which heat loads vary or decrease for an extended period of time. These data centers may range from colocation and cloud computing facilities to those with redundant unit architectures.

Optimized Energy Savings at Partial Load Standard Partial Load Partial Load with Supersaver With the Supersaver software function, freecooling chiller and air conditioning unit control logics coordinate in order to increase overall cooling system efficiency at partial load. In doing so, the Supersaver function ensures that the chillers temperature set point is increased, together with partial load water temperatures. As a result, the system is able to operate efficiently at elevated temperatures for prolonged periods of time, utilizing the cooling capacity of the external air, via its freecooling function. The increased use of the freecooling function as a result of the Supersaver hence, leads to superior energy savings. System Annual Energy Cost Comparison COOLING SYSTEM DESIGN: Cooling load: 1000 kw; glycol 30% Outdoor unit: Liebert HPC-L model FG4100 at in/out water temperatures of 15-10 C Indoor units: 10 Liebert PCW models PH136EL at return air temperatures of 24 C; humidity 50% OPERATING CONDITIONS: Cooling load: 600 kw (PART LOAD 60%) City: Paris /kwh= 0.12 STANDARD SYSTEM: Chiller set-point at 60% load= 10 C System annual consumption= 823,000 kwh A system installed in Central Europe, working at an average of 60% of its design load and a set point of 10 C, is expected to yield an annual energy saving in the range of 15-20%. SYSTEM WITH SUPERSAVER: Chiller set-point at 60% load= 14 C System annual consumption= 679,000 kwh Annual Savings=144,000 kwh = 17,300

SUPERSAVER Effortless Implementation and High Reliability The Supersaver function is available for the complete Liebert HPC Freecooling Chiller range, as well as for the Liebert chilled water air conditioning and in-row units, both with three-way and two-way valve configuration. The sole site requirement is a standard Ethernet connection to a single LAN linking the individual Liebert cooling units together. Reliability The reliability of the system is ensured through the Supersaver s automatic shut off feature which is activated when LAN anomalies are detected, thus allowing the freecooling chiller and air conditioning units to revert to the standard functioning mode. Flexibility With Supersaver, a single group of freecooling chillers is able to manage up to 20 different groups of air conditioning units, each serving a dedicated area of the data center. In the Field Vertiv Customer Engineers will supervise the installation of the system, in order to optimize settings and ensure the highest energy savings right from installation. Roof Single Site Requirement LAN Configuration Room

Vertiv icom electronic control allows communication between all units in the complete cooling system, thus coordinating load management for optimized efficiency.
