H3C Enhanced IPv6 10GE Series Switch S5500-34C-HI/S5500-34C-PWR-HI S5500-58C-HI/S5500-58C-PWR-HI S5500-34F-HI Overview The H3C series switch is a new generation enhanced IPv6 Layer 3 10GE switch series, with advanced hardware processing capabilities and abundant service features. It provides up to six 10GE interfaces, realizing the highest port density in a 1U device in the industry and providing flexible port extension. Its IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack hardware and wire-speed forwarding enables a smooth transition to IPv6 networks. Besides, its excellent security, HA, PoE and multi-service capabilities make the switch the best choice as the distribution device in large-sized enterprise networks and campus networks, the core device in small- and medium-sized enterprise networks, and the edge device in MANs. H3C series switch comes in these five models: S5500-34C-HI: 24 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports, Four SFP GE ports, Two 10GE SFP+ ports, Two expansion slots. S5500-34C-PWR-HI: 24 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports (PoE), Four SFP GE ports, Two 10GE SFP+ ports, Two expansion slots. S5500-34F-HI: 24 100/1000Base-X SFP ports, Four 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports, Two 10GE SFP+ ports, Two expansion slots. S5500-58C-HI: 48 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports, Four SFP GE ports, Two 10GE SFP+ ports, Two expansion slots. S5500-58C-PWR-HI: 48 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports (PoE), Four SFP GE ports, Two 10GE SFP+ ports, Two expansion slots. Features High scalability and high port density The switch has two expansion slots, supporting multiple types of interface cards: 2-port XFP interface cards, 2-port SFP+ interface cards, 2-port CX4 interface cards, 2-port SFP interface cards, and 8-port GE interface cards. The switch supports up to 68 GE ports and six 10GE ports. The flexible scalability and the highest port density in the industry satisfy the requirements for hybrid configuration of copper ports and fiber ports at the distribution layer in large-sized networks or at the core layer in small- and medium-sized networks. High-performance IPv4/IPv6 service capabilities The switch implements IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack platform based on the hardware, and provides sophisticated IPv4/IPv6 solutions by supporting multiple tunnels, IPv4/IPv6 Layer 3 routing protocols, multicasting, and policy-based routing. The switch is a mature commercial IPv6 product that has passed the IPv6 network access certification of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the IPv6 Ready Phase II certification. Intelligent Resilient Framework 2 (IRF2) The switch supports IRF2, which creates a large IRF virtual device from multiple devices. You can manage and operate the devices in an IRF fabric as one device. IRF features the following advantages: Simplified topology - An IRF fabric appears as one node on the network. You can log in at any member switch to manage all members of the IRF fabric. 1

Simplified processes - In an IRF fabric, the control protocols run as in a single device. For example, routing protocols calculate routes as in a single device. The cross-device link aggregation can replace the original spanning tree protocol, eliminating protocol packet exchange between devices, simplifying network operation, and shortening the convergence time in case of network failures. Network scalability and resiliency - You can increase ports, network bandwidth, and processing capability of an IRF fabric simply by adding member switches without affecting the operation of other member devices, thereby protecting investment. High availability - High availability of IRF is presented in three aspects: device, link, and protocol. The member devices in an IRF fabric work in 1:N redundancy. One member switch works as the master to manage and maintain the entire IRF fabric, and all other member switches process services and provide backup. If the master fails, all other member switches elect a new master among them to prevent service interruption. You can perform link aggregation not only for IRF links but also for physical links between the IRF fabric and its upper or lower layer devices for link redundancy. IRF also supports real-time backup for protocols, which backs up the configuration information of protocols from the master device to other member devices. High performance - For switches, the hardware structures limit the improvement of system performance and port density. In an IRF system, the performance and port density is calculated by summing up the performance and port density of all devices in the IRF. The IRF amplifies the switching capabilities and port density of the virtual framework, greatly improving the system performance. Support for multiple services The switch supports Multi-VRF and can operate as an MCE device. It supports Layer 3 MPLS VPN and Layer 2 MPLS VPN in Martini mode and Kompella mode. Working with the H3C MPLS VPN Manager, the switch can implement graphical MPLS deployment and maintenance. The switch also supports VPLS, providing end-to-end Layer 2 VPN access solutions, supporting MPLS/VPLS wire-speed forwarding, satisfying largescaled VPLS deployment requirements. The switch (PWR model) supports power over Ethernet (PoE), through which the switch provides power supply to the connected devices, such as IP phones and wireless APs. This feature can greatly save cabling and management cost for terminal deployment. Multiple high availability measures The switch supports high availability at device level and link level. It adopts hot swappable dual-power supply design, which allows you to configure AC or DC power supplies as needed. It provides protection against over-current, overvoltage, and over-heating. The switch can detect faults in power supplies and fans, and will if any such faults are found, respond with an alarm. It can automatically adjust fan speed according to temperature. All these designs enable the switch to offer high availability. The also supports link-level high availability techniques, such as Rapid Ring Protection Protocol (RRPP), Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol Extended (VRRPE), and smart link. This helps ensure stable network convergence time and normal operation of services if a large amount of services and traffic exist on the network. Abundant QoS policies The switch supports packet filtering at Layer 2 through Layer 4, and traffic classification based on source MAC addresses, destination MAC addresses, source IP addresses, destination IP addresses, TCP/UDP port numbers, protocol types, and VLANs. It supports flexible queue scheduling algorithms based on ports and queues, including strict priority (SP), weighted round Robin (WRR), SP+WRR, weighted fair queuing (WFQ), and SP+WFQ. The switch enables committed access rate (CAR) with the minimum granularity of 8 kbps. It supports port mirroring in the outbound and inbound directions, to monitor the packets on the specific ports, and to mirror the packets to the monitor port for network detection and troubleshooting. Excellent manageability The switch supports abundant management ports, such as the console port and the out-of-band network management port. It supports the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) v1/v2/v3, Open View, IMC, CLI, Web-based NMS, Telnet, and HGMP so that devices are conveniently managed. It also supports SSH2.0 to provide better protection management. The switch supports Internet Protocol Flow Information Export (IPFIX), SPAN/RSPAN/ERSPAN mirroring, and multiple mirroring ports so that network traffic can be analyzed to carry out corresponding management and maintenance measures and traffic of network services and applications is visible. The S5500- HI switch provides network stream analysis reports, which help users to promptly optimize the network structure and adjust resource deployment. 2
