Executive Summary The public EUBrazil Cloud Connect web platform (http://www.eubrazilcloudconnect.eu/) is a versatile platform aimed at animating EUBrazil Cloud Connect community of users. The website will be dynamic and will change during the project lifetime as new updates come out. It will be the channel to showcase concrete results and success stories in which EUBrazil Cloud Connect will play a role. The portal will help to drive awareness on EUBrazil Cloud Connect federated environment providing independent and practical information, helping users in all sectors to understand and evaluate the benefits of EUBrazil Cloud Connect services. The delivered web platform is a powerful communication tool designed and produced according to the general guidelines to be expressed in the EUBrazil Cloud Connect Communication Strategy. Deliverable 2.2 is entitled Web Platform development and reports the properties, functionalities and value-add of the web platform built during the first phase of the EUBrazil Cloud Connect project and made available at project month 6 (March 2014), one month before the foreseen deadline. This document is basically a short description of the real deliverable, which is the website. D2.2 Web Platform development Page 5 of 16

1. EUBrazil Cloud Connect Web Platform overview EUBrazil Cloud Connect web platform is online at the address http://www.eubrazilcloudconnect.eu/. The EUBrazil Cloud Connect web platform is a versatile semantic based knowledge management platform aimed at animating the community of users by responding to their specific interests. The flexibility of its architecture allows the integration of different tools, gives the possibility to easily upload multimedia content and to customize the proposed content according to the characteristics and navigation history of its users. A version 0.1 of the web platform was delivered in month 5 for internal revision, while the public version was launched in March 2014. 1.1. Website sections and main architecture During this first phase of the project the web platform sections have been populated with project related information, regarding objectives, scientific domains addressed and a short description of the use cases, together with relevant content organized according to format and topic: news items, publications and multimodal content (videos or photos). Specifically, the following menus are active: Federated environment: explaining EUBrazil Cloud Connect innovative approach to cloud federation and the e-infrastructure behind the project Our applications: presenting EUBrazil Cloud Connect services that will be tested on the use cases. This menu leads to the pages dedicated to the three use cases, that will be continuously updated as the activities in the project progress: o Leishmaniasis Virtual Laboratory o Heart Simulation Services o Biodiversity and Climate Change Cloudscape Brazil: this area is dedicated to the Cloudscape Brazil workshop series that EUBrazil Cloud Connect will organize. Information about Cloudscape Brazil 2014 has already been published in the dedicated page. News: this area contains EUBrazil Cloud Connect project news, in terms of general information, events, publications, updates, etc. About: providing general information on the project and on: o Project Scope and Objectives o EUBrazil Cloud Connect External Expert Committee o Consortium and who is involved Project Library: containing project documents relevant for external stakeholders, i.e. articles and press releases, presentations and papers. At this time it lists the details of 3 papers presented by EUBrazil Cloud Connect consortium and the first project press release. Stay in touch: provides a description of the EUBrazil Cloud Connect Community and of the benefits of joining it, as well as a generic contact form. Connected updates: a list of news are collected in the left column of each page website using RSS feeds from selected website and channels. They are tagged with different categories in line with the project use cases and fields of applications, namely Biodiversity News, Heart & Health News and Epidemiology News (see Figure 2). Figure 2 Connect Updates news example list Sign in: the registration form allows EUBrazil Cloud Connect to collect information about their users (personal information, information on role, organization, field of interest, etc.) and to exploit these information for conveying targeted messages to specific users and to build targeted marketing campaigns. At the present time (M7) there are 22 EUBrazil Cloud Connect web platform registered members. Other menus such as EUBrazil Cloud Connect assets, Upcoming and past events, Mobility and Job Opportunities are not active yet and will be published in line with the evolution of the project communication, outreach and education strategy. Other menus and functionalities will be added along the project evolution to respond to specific dissemination and engagement needs. 1.2. Graphical layouts Different layouts have been designed associated to different content type. An example of different layout is provided in the images below. Newsletter Tool The delivery of the EUBrazil Cloud Connect web platform included the integration of the Newsletter tool, which allows enews and eannouncements generation through direct selection of the content published on the EUBrazil Cloud Connect web platform, as well as content manually edited. The provision of a periodic e-newsletter service facilitates the communication of all the latest news related to the use cases and applications, events, publications and papers. enewsletters are received prior to subscription where they provide some information on their personal and professional interests as well as disseminated through the project social media channels. The first project newsletter is going to be sent out by month 7 (April 2014) and it is presented in the image below (online version screenshot). D2.2 Web Platform development Page 15 of 16
