Introduction Scope and Purpose This document describes the system requirements, installation and configuration steps for the Uila Virtual Information Controller(vIC) and Virtual Smart Tap(vST). It is assumed that the reader has already installed VMware and is familiar with the configurations and operations of VMware. Architecture Overview The diagram below shows the Uila Management and Analytics System architecture(umas) and its relationship to Virtual Information Controller(vIC) and Uila Virtual Smart Taps(vST). Virtual Architecture The Uila Management and Analytics system(umas) is a big data store and analytics engine that is designed to monitor up to thousands of servers. The UMAS can record data in minute resolutions while maintaining real time responsiveness. The built-in redundancy offers high availability, removes downtime and reduces maintenance overhead. The Virtual Information Controller (vic) integrates to the VMware vcenter. The vic is deployed as a guest VM where it collects network, storage and compute performance metrics that are maintained by the vcenter. This is then combined with the data from the Virtual Smart Taps(vST) and transmitted to the UMAS. 2

Virtual Smart Taps (vst) are also deployed in the host as an efficiently designed small foot-print guest VM with embedded Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology to identify unique applications and their attributes. vst s measure application response time and collect network performance data. The vst does not examine or store the packets, thus eliminating the risk of exposing sensitive data. Getting Started System Requirements Internet Browser for your monitoring console: o Firefox, Chrome on Windows platform o Safari, Firefox, Chrome on OS X platform o Firefox, Chrome on CentOS, Ubuntu Linux platform VMware version requirements: o vsphere ESXi 5.x or higher o vcenter Server 5.x or higher Uila Virtual Smart Tap(vST) requirements: o Each of the hosts monitored requires one vst installed as a guest VM, with average single vcpu usage of 70 MHz, and Monitor Port Group average 200 kbps bandwidth, pre-allocated o 1Gb memory required during installation and 500 Mb in run time o 2Gb disk space required during installation and 500 Mb in run time Uila Virtual Information Controller (vic) requirements: o Installed as a guest VM with single vcpu average usage of 275 MHz and Monitor Port Group average of 400 kbps network bandwidth vic s virtual resource allocation (depending on # of VM s monitored) is listed in Table below: Scope # of VM Monitored vcpu Virtual Memory Local Storage Small 0 ~ 500 VM 2 Cores 4 GB 8 GB Medium 501 ~ 1,000 VM 2 Cores 8 GB 8 GB Large 1,001 ~ 2,000 VM 2 Cores 16 GB 8 GB 3

Proper vcenter access rights are required for vic to collect information such as CPU, memory and storage metrics from vcenter. The access rights must be able to make configuration changes, deploy and setup Uila vst VM. You must have one of the two options pre-configured before vic deployment: 1. Full administrative access rights (vcenter administrator role), or 2. Partial administrative access rights with the following table of privileges enabled. Privilege Categories Datastore Allocate space Browse data store Remove file Privilege Items Global Cancel task Host Local operations->create virtual machine Local operations->delete virtual machine Network Assign network Resource Scheduled task Virtual machine dvport group vapp Assign virtual machine to resource pool Modify resource pool Create tasks Modify tasks Remove tasks Run task Configuration Guest Operations Interaction Inventory Provisioning Service configuration Snapshot management vsphere replication Create Delete Modify Add virtual machine Assign resource pool Assign vapp Import Network requirement 4

o Allocate one IP address for each of the vst s. This can be either static IP address or assigned via DHCP, prior to the deployment. o Allocate one static IP address for the vic prior to deployment. o Open TCP and UDP ports to allow communications between Uila sub-systems as illustrated in the chart below. Unblock TCP ports 5000 and 443 between vic and the Uila site. Unblock TCP ports 443 and 902 between vic and Hypervisor hosts Unblock UDP port 8000 between vic and vst User Registration For Uila SaaS deployment, follow these steps to obtain your login ID and password. 5

1. Browse to Uila Web site www.uila.com 2. Click on Free Trial located on the top-right corner of the homepage 3. Click on Get Instant Access 4. Complete registration form and receive registration confirmation. 6 Uila Confidential 2017 Uila SaaS Installation guide v1.26

5. Receive registration email with link for login to Uila portal 7

Deploy Virtual Information Controller (vic) This section describes the step-by-step instruction to download, install and activate vic. 1. Login to Uila Portal www.portal.uila.com 2. Download the VM template for Uila Virtual Information Controller(vIC) 3. Login to vcenter using the vsphere client. 8

4. Deploy vic.ova in vcenter 5. Browse to locate the vic.ova file 9

6. Verify OVA template details 7. Review and accept Uila end user license agreement 8. Choose name and folder location 9. Select Uila deployment configuration, wither small, medium or large depending on the number of VM s in the environment. 10

10. Choose the cluster and host 11. Select the datastore for the vic 12. Select disk format to be thin provisioned for more efficient usage of storage space. 11

13. Network mapping Select a network port group where the vic can communicate with the vst. 14. Enter the vic properties a. For the SaaS deployment, the Uila server name is portal.uila.com b. Enter the login ID and password created during Uila registration. 12

c. Enter the vcenter IP/hostname along with its username and password. d. Enter the vic assigned IP address along with gateway, DNS and subnet information. 15. Review all the settings and click finish. 16. Once the system is deployed, power on the vic. Depending on the VMware environment this process may take several minutes. 17. Please open the VM console to monitor the progress of the vic. If a blue screen like the image below appears, the VM is powered on 13

Now proceed to install the Virtual Smart Tap (vst) Deploy Virtual Smart Tap (vst) This section describes a step-by-step instruction to deploy vst. 1. Login to Uila portal www.portal.uila.com 2. If an orange button lights up, the vic is able to communicate with the UMAS. Click on the orange button to start vst deployment. 3. Click on Settings and then vst configuration 14

4. Click Install and select configuration options for the vst. 5. Once correctly installed, the vst status will show up with a green Active 15

6. Install additional vst s by following steps 4 and 5. 7. Verify dashboard to see data on timeline is being populated.
