LLB-OCMFM2000 is a double channel area-velocity flow meter that uses doppler wedge or pipe sensors, it has a rechargeable battery LiFePOH4 40 Ah lasting up to 2 months and can be powered by a fixed universal power supply too. It acquires data on an internal 4 Mb memory (266,44 acquisitions) and on an external 4GB pen drive: the acquired data, together with the alarms and the diagnostics can be sent remotely through a built-in GSM / GPRS modem. The IP67 protection grade of the main unit and the IP68 protection grade of the sensors complete the excellent performances of this flow meter. The advanced configuration menu can guide in a few steps, through a display and a keyboard or using software HydroFlux, even a few experienced operator about how to use LLB-OCMFM2000. Working Principle A beam of ultrasonic waves at F Doppler frequency is sent through the fluid in order to measure its flow rate. The ultrasonic beam is reflected by Doppler frequency F2. The difference between F and F2 frequency is used to determine the velocity of suspended reflecting particles and therefore the velocity of the fluid which flow rate has to be measured. This device determines the Doppler frequency of each single group of reflecting particles by measuring how long the Doppler pulses last. Every frequency is saved (limit value 4 Hz=7mSec. Doppler pulse) in a very short time and a huge number of frequencies are saved in order to create a statistics analysis of frequencies. Values are then examined by a processor in order to calculate the average velocity every 0 seconds. A statistics evaluation of Doppler frequencies uses two table: a table of frequencies and an index table of frequencies. The frequencies range is divided into 72 groups and each group is located in a table. The frequencies ranges start from group zero, including frequencies below 4 Hz, up to group 72, including frequencies above 5000 Hz. As long as the frequencies are saved in the first table, they are saved in the index table too. The index table allows a continuous search of the highest frequency range and its identification. The groups with frequencies closest to the peak values are used to determine the average velocity. The average velocity is used to calculate the instantaneous flow rate. Three different working modes: *Minimum flow rate: if the level is below 6.5 cm, the device does not consider the velocity values, but applies a mathematical hydraulic formula including just the level values to calculate the flow rate. *Standard flow rate/area-velocity: if the level is higher than 6.5 cm, the device considers both velocity and level values to calculate the flow rate. *Maximum flow rate: if the pipe or channel is completely full, the device deletes all the level values it saved and to calculate the flow rate, it uses the maximum level determined by the initial geometrical settings (it considers the biggest pipe/channel section).
