Desire2Learn Version 10 Overview: Desire2Learn Learning Environment Version 10 (D2L LE v10) features a subtle new design. The new system features a redesigned interface that relocates key elements to the foreground, allowing for a cleaner, more user-friendly environment. Version 10.0 Key Features for Students: Redesigned Interface Offering Streamlined Layouts and a Redesigned Homepage o Simplified and streamlined navigation bars, including a new minibar The navigation minibar allows students to quickly access their courses or return to My Home from anywhere in D2L. No longer do you need to click My Home to navigate from course to course. Additional Notification Abilities for Students o Students can additionally subscribe to receive notifications on approaching quiz end dates and grades as they are released or updated. o Notifications are available in the alerts area of the minibar so that students can monitor cross-course activity as they complete work in a particular course. Chatter Alerts tool on the minibar provides real-time notification whenever a discussion post had been made. Students can click on the individual alert to go directly to the discussion. Update alerts tool on the minibar will show updates for any other alerts students are subscribed to. Message alerts tool on the minibar allows students to send email messages. Calendar Updates o The calendar tool now displays in a two-column layout and the calendar selector, used for adding, removing, and filtering to specific calendars, has been moved from the left side of the screen into a flyout menu for quick access. Navigation Minibar A navigational minibar is at the top of every page. The "My Home" and "Course Home" pages also have nav bars that are specific to the home or course area. The minibar is the uppermost bar - it will persist throughout the D2L session; the "My Home" nav bar includes a Communication drop menu, a My Tools drop menu and an Online Help drop menu. The drop down menu, may change dependent on which tools are specific to the course.

The Alert section of the minibar: At a glance, users are alerted via an icon from anywhere in the system. Additional Calendar Information: In addition, the following changes have been added to Calendar: Hidden events are clearly recognizable in the Day/Week/Month views with a 2 pixel dotted border and descriptive alternative text Filters are remembered as users view items from the List view and return to the filtered list Calendars for all current courses where the user is explicitly enrolled are added and enabled by default, saving users the effort of individually adding calendars, and allowing cascading users to add only the specific calendars they care about A new print option has been introduced that allows users to control whether or not page breaks are added after every event when printing The events displayed as a result of searching and filtering from the List view can be printed When deleting a repeating event, options are available to delete the series, the current occurrence, or the current occurrence and future occurrences Task headings now indicate the number of incomplete tasks
A typical Course Home Page will look like this after selecting your specific course: Participant view will be different and influenced by the amount of News items, Calendar items, Content items, and Updates contained in the specific course and displaying in the course home page widgets. Various methods can be used by participants, such as collapsing widgets, to manage the view presented by the course home page. Access course information and course content from these drop menus.
