Working with Realview Partica www.realviewdigital.com

Welcome to Realview Partica Thank you for choosing Realview for your digital publication. This guide will introduce you to the Partica solution, it will give an overview on the process behind Partica and what you will need to do in the set up and management of your publication. www.realviewdigital.com page 2 of 15

Overview of process When coming on board with Partica, our production team will handle most of the processing and extraction of articles, below is a step by step guide to the process. 1. Sign up onto Partica via a social media account (Google, Facebook, etc) 2. Upload your PDF (set to the requirements covered in Supplying your PDF) onto partica and allow it to process. 3. When your file is processed, our production team will be advised on the arrival of the file and will begin work on extracting the articles (this will take between 24 to 48 hours depending on the length and complexity of the pdf) 4. During the extraction process, styling for the PDF will be added, which can include adding interactive functions such as buttons and videos, as well as coloured styles and formatting to the articles. 5. Once the proofing stage of the process is complete and the publication passes Quality Assessment, you will then be notified of the publication being ready to view. 6. Additional changes can be made should they be required by our production staff. Create your account Send assets to Realview Upload PDF Article extraction (done by Realview) Review for changes You make the publication live for your readers! www.realviewdigital.com page 3 of 15

Summary of the steps 1. Create your account To get started with Partica, first an account with Partica needs to be created. To do so, go to the Partica website and create an account by signing in with a LinkedIn, Facebook or Gmail account. Once the account is created, there are options to invite others to the account, upload PDFs and edit articles. It is important to always login using the same account that you initially signed on with. Sign up 2. Onboarding process/gathering of assets After creating the account, an account manager will be assigned to help gather the assets and information from that is needed for the set up. The account manager will send a set up document which will cover such ask for specifics in regards to URL, tracking, branding and styling. Once the document is completed, it needs to be sent back to the account manager with all the assets provided. 3. Supply your PDF To help assist us in the processing of your file, we recommend supplying pdfs at a high resolution, with at least 300 dpi and with high res images. PDF files should also be supplied with selectable text and images in order to assist in the smooth process of turning text into mobile friendly articles. Read more: Supplying your PDF 4. Initial upload (how long it will take) When the PDF is ready to upload, log into Partica and upload the PDF. It will take approximately ten minutes for the flipbook to be completed and ready to view. For the mobile viewer, it will take 48 hours for the article extraction and styling to be completed. Once the text extraction and styling is completed, the production team or account manager will be in contact with you. From here you will be able to view your viewers, edit articles or notify the production team of any changes that you would like. www.realviewdigital.com page 4 of 15

Summary of the steps (cont d) 5. Follow up (after extraction if changes are needed) After the extraction/styling process is complete, our team will have the publication checked for quality assurance, before it is send off to the client. It s during this process that the client will be advised to check the publication for themselves and see if any additional changes or adjusts are needed before sign off. 6. For ongoing issues To upload the next issue, the set up process does not need to be repeated. If there are changes that need to be made (logo, section organization) or if there are hyperlinks, maps or images to be added in the mobile viewer, then it is best to contact production with the assets and changes. If none of these changes or assets needs to be supplied, contact production prior to uploading the PDF so they are aware and able to add it to the extraction schedule. 7. Going live Once you are ready, you can switch your publication from testing to live so that it is available to be viewed by your audience. To ensure your website visitors can find your digital publication, make sure to embed the HTML coverlink code prominently on your site. This code will generate a linked cover image of your publication and will dynamically update so that it always displays the latest live issue. You can collect this code via the Partica dashboard. www.realviewdigital.com page 5 of 15

Supplying your PDF When working with Partica, there are certain requirements that the pdf needs to meet in order for both smooth uploading as well as high quality processing and extract. Below we have a list of requirements for how pdf files should be supplied for Partica. We recommend supplying your PDF at a high resolution, with at least 300 dpi (print quality) and most importantly with high resolution images. As part of the conversion process, Realview will optimize all images so that they load fast on mobile without a loss of quality. Your PDF files should also be supplied with selectable text and images to assist in the smooth and timely process of extracting all elements in your publication into mobile-friendly articles. It is recommended that text and images are added to separate layers in the PDF during the design stage. Ensure all web links and email addresses are selectable text and embedded in the final PDF before it is uploaded to Partica. It is recommended that PDF files are cropped and trimmed correctly before being uploaded to Partica. However if this is not possible, we can add a standard trim setting to the pages for your flipbook edition. For this to be effective we encourage you to keep the trim marks consistent across all pages in your issue. The file size of your PDF should be within the ideal range of 30 to 500mb. A file size of less than 30mb is not going produce a high quality result once converted. Please note that the larger the file size the longer your issue may take to convert. Ensure your PDF is saved in Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) version or later. Selecting a URL The URL for your publication will follow the standardised format: https://xxxx.partica.online When selecting a subdomain for your URL it is a good idea to keep it short and memorable so that readers can easily type it in on their mobile browser, and so it can fit within a SMS message for distribution. Avoid selecting a time-sensitive URL for your publication or any URL that will become redundant once a new issue is published. Eg. https://summerguide.partica.online Tracking your publication Google Analytics will provide a breakdown of demographics and specific data in regards to who is viewing the publication. To have data collected by Google Analytics, you will need to have an existing account, or create an account, and then create the tracking code. Once the code is created, it will need to be added to your publication which can be done by yourself or your account manager. For more information on Google Analytics, click the link provided here. www.realviewdigital.com page 6 of 15

Supplying your branding Your Partica publication can be branded with your logo to ensure a clear and consistent brand identity across all of your digital products. For the best results, please supply a horizontal logo in png or jpeg file format. Your logo should have a maximum width of 300px, and a maximum height of 100px. The same logo will appear on both the article viewer and the flipbook viewer toolbars. The flipbook logo can be linked to your website. For this, please supply the exact URL you would like linked to. Logo appears on the top left hand corner of the viewer on all devices. Adding sections The reflowable HTML version of your digital publication consists of articles organised into different section categories which readers can easily navigate via the menu toolbar. Unless otherwise specified, Realview will create sections consistent with your print edition, as listed on your contents page or otherwise apparent throughout the publication. Articles are organised under their sections. If you want to specify the sections for your mobile edition, you will be able to request these from your Realview Account Manager during the onboarding process. Each section can have a unique colour identifier. These colours will be pulled from the print edition unless otherwise specified. Once transformed into articles, your print ads can either be organised into the sections they appear in in the print edition, or they can be pulled together into a separate Advertisements section. The later is how your ads will be organised if not otherwise requested. www.realviewdigital.com page 7 of 15

WORKING WITH REALVIEW PARTICA Styling articles As part of the extraction process, Realview will offer standard styling for your articles consistent with your print edition. An example of standard styling. Standard styling: Bold and italic styles Additional images Maps Advanced, custom styling can also be completed upon request. Advanced styling: Bold and Italic styles Coloured text Additional images Tables Interactive elements Please note that some print styles may be omitted from your articles, for example certain pale text colours may not translate well online, especially over a white background. An example of advanced styling. www.realviewdigital.com page 8 of 15

WORKING WITH REALVIEW PARTICA Supplying interactivity Extra images The Partica Article viewer supports a range of different HTML interactivity which allows you to enhance the mobile user experience and strengthen engagement with your content. Additional images that do not appear in your print edition can be used to enrich your HTML articles. When supplying images there are no dimensional restrictions, however, it is important to optimise your images for web through an image editing program (Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator) before supplying them to Realview. This will ensure they will load fast and provide a smooth reading experience on mobile. Videos All videos should be hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. To supply a video you wish to have embedded in an article, simply supply the video URL or HTML embed code and the placement within the article you wish it to appear in. If you have images that need to be displayed at a high resolution (larger than 900px width), such as maps or deck plans, then Realview can embed these in your article using a mobile optimised zoomable image container. Tip: Images should be high resolution for the best quality. Example of an embedded YouTube video in an article. www.realviewdigital.com page 9 of 15

WORKING WITH REALVIEW PARTICA Tables Interactive maps Certain content, such as calendars and itineraries, will look much more professional when organised into a HTML table, and will adapt to fit each device. Partica supports two different options for displaying interactive maps. One being Google maps, in which we grab an embed code from google maps and add it into the article, which will then show up as an iframe that is both zoomable and interactive. These maps can be customised depending on the requirements and can even serve as directions to a venue. Example of a table. Example of an embedded Google map in the viewer. www.realviewdigital.com page 10 of 15

Interactive maps (cont d) The other interactive map option is a static zoomable map. This option is ideal if you have a full size map in image or PDF format that you would like to leverage online. Simply supply the complete, unbroken map in PNG or PDF format and Realview will take care of the conversion and mobile optimisation on our end. Requesting changes After the extraction, styling, and proofing stages are complete, our production team will be in touch with you to let you know the publication is ready to preview. If you require any adjustments made to the articles please notify the team as soon as possible via email and outline your requirements. To ensure your digital editions are delivered to you with a quick turn around time every time you publish, it is recommended that if you have any branding or styling conventions you wish for Realview to adhere to that you notify the team in advance to minimise revisions. Notify Realview if you want to follow specific branding or styling convention for your publication. When supplying graphics for a zoomable map, we will need an image or PDF of the map. www.realviewdigital.com page 11 of 15

Advertising Print to mobile advertising Advertisements that appear in your print edition can be transformed into superior reflowable articles for mobile. To ensure the best possible results, all images and text need to remain selectable in the uploaded PDF. Depending on your preference, these advertisement articles can be integrated into their own Ad section, or inserted between feature articles to maximise coverage. These advertisements can also have the following interactive call to action buttons added into the article: Book Now: Which can be linked to the brand s website or to their booking page to encourage direct conversions. Call Us: Which can be linked to the brand s website or to their booking page to encourage direct conversions. Get Directions: Which will link directly to Google maps and provide directions to the venue from the reader s current location. Example of advertising via an article. Additional text, images, and video can be used as upsell incentives to enhance an ad further. If you wish to create additional mobile-only native ads then this can be arranged provided that the images and wording for the advertisement is also supplied to us in advance. This includes addresses, email and web links, as well as phone numbers that can be turned into interactive buttons in the article. www.realviewdigital.com page 12 of 15

Banner advertising The Partica Article Viewer also supports mobile-optimised display advertising, in the form of linked banner ads. You can offer brands the premium interactive advertising space above the fold where their ad will display above all articles. Brands can supply you with their own artwork, which can be swapped out each time you publish a new issue, or you can feed ads straight from an online ad server such as Google AdSense or DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP). If you are supplying a graphic to Realview: The top banner ad must be between 500 and 728 pixels in width and no more than 90 pixels in height. Can be supplied as a PNG for static placements, or a GIF for a more animated banner ad. The artwork and URL to link to should be supplied to Realview via email. 500-728W Google Adsense AdSense is an online advertising placement service run by Google that allows website publishers to serve targeted display ads on their site to earn revenue. If you want to serve Google AdSense ads: You will need to create a free online account and set up a responsive ad unit. This will ensure that the display ads fed into your article viewer will adapt and resize to fit different devices. Copy the HTML Ad Code that this generates and supply it to Realview via email. Your ad unit can also be added into the body of any of your articles. If you wish for this, please notify Realview of the articles and placement within the articles where you would like the Adsense ads to be located. 90H Top banner ad dimension requirements. Supply Realview the HTML Ad code generated by Adsense. www.realviewdigital.com page 13 of 15

SMS distribution SMS is not only one of the most effective ways for distributing your Partica publication straight into the hands of users, but it also allows for 2-way communication between you and your mobile audience. There are two ways of leveraging the Partica SMS service in your publishing, marketing, and distribution plan: Send out a SMS blast to your database of mobile users with a direct link to the latest issue. The database of mobile phone numbers will need to be uploaded and stored in the Partica online SMS service portal. Set up the keyword function so that users can SMS to retrieve the mobile edition on the go. If this is something that you would use, notify your account manager and they will set up an account for you. When your account is set up, your account manager will explain how to login to your SMS account, how to add credit onto your account and so forth. You will need to decide: If you will be using one of the existing mobile numbers supplied by Realview, or if you will like to purchase your own unique number. What you would like your keyword to be. It is important to keep the number simple and memorable to make it as easy as possible for mobile users to request your digital publication on the go.
