Getting Started to Xcalenets Console Setup You can enter Xcalenets console setup via the local terminal. When you see the line below, press [Enter] to start it. Controller Redundancy is *NOT* supported in the standalone version. Account Level Introduction You can login to Xcalenets web UI and Xcalenets console setup with the same credentials. Login Console Setup Enter username and password to log into Xcalenets setup. Default is "admin"/ admin. You can change the password for any account on the Web UI. Login Failed Invalid username or password. 4
Login retries Exceeded After 3 failures to login, the system will return you to the beginning of Xcalenets console setup. Xcalenets Setup Main Menu Your current login account name, user level and location is shown at the top of the screen. This is main menu of Xcalenets console setup. Use arrow keys to highlight your selection. Press the space key to highlight <Enter> or <Exit>. Press enter to select. 5
IP Setting (Setup the Network Interface Card) Use arrow keys to highlight "IP Setting". Press enter on <Enter> to enter IP Setting. IP Setting Step -1 Use arrow keys to select a network interface to use as the management interface of Xcalenets. Select <OK> to continue to IP address setup. 6
IP Setting Step - 2 To set a static IP, use arrow keys to highlight "static" and press the space key to mark it. Highlight <OK> and press Enter key to continue. To set the IP through DHCP, mark "dhcp" instead. For DHCP, skip IP setting steps 3 and 4. IP Setting Step - 3 Use Arrow key to move the cursor to different fields to set them. "IP Address" and "Netmask" fields are required. "Gateway" and "DNS" fields are optional. Press enter to continue. 7
IP Setting Step - 4 Verify the setting and then highlight <OK> and press enter to continue. IP Setting Step - 5 Highlight <Yes> and press enter to restart. The setting will take effect after restarting. P.S Restarting the interface is highly recommended. 8
IP Setting Step - 6 The interface is restarting. It may take a few seconds. IP Setting Step - 7 Interface eth0 finished restarting. 9
Syslog Redirection (configure a remote syslog receiver) Use arrow keys to highlight Syslog Redirection. Press enter on <Enter> to continue. Syslog Redirection Step 1 Enter the IP address for Remote Syslog Daemon (go to Step 2.1). If you leave the column blank, Xcalenets will stop redirecting log messages (go to Step 2.2). Press enter on <OK> to continue. 10
Syslog Redirection Step 2.1 Verify the setting and then highlight <OK> and press enter to continue. Syslog Redirection Step 2.2 Press enter on <Yes> to disable the Syslog redirection. 11
Syslog Redirection - 4 It takes a few minutes to complete the operation. Syslog Redirection completed Configuration of Syslog redirection is complete. Press enter on <OK> to continue. 12
Remote Authentication Use arrow keys to highlight Remote Authentication. Press enter on <Enter> to continue. Remote Authentication menu The current configured remote servers will be shown. Login authentication will be checked with server 1, then 2, then finally with local accounts. Use arrow keys to highlight a configuration and choose <Edit> to modify it. Choose manage to add a new authentication server configuration. 13
Remote Authentication Edit Highlight <Edit> and press enter. The editing procedure is the same in "Add TACACS+ Server Step" or "Add Radius Server Step" based on the server type. Remote Authentication Manage Press enter on <Manage> to add a new authentication server configuration. 14
Remote Authentication Manage New Use arrow keys to highlight New. Press enter on <OK> to continue. Add New Remote Authentication server Use arrow keys to select the type of the new server configuration. 15
Add TACACS+ Server Step 1 Enter server IP and key. Press enter on <Next> to continue. Add TACACS+ Server Step 2 Use arrow keys to select an TACACS+ authentication method. Press enter on <Next> to continue. 16
Add TACACS+ Server Step 3 Use arrow keys to select the default user level for accounts authenticated at this server. Press enter on <Next> to continue. P.S. See Account Level Introduction for more details. Add TACACS+ Server Verify Verify the new configuration. 17
Add TACACS+ Server complete Add TACACS+ server completed. Add RADIUS Server Step 1 Enter server IP, port, and key. Press enter on <Next> to continue. 18
Add RADIUS Server Step 2 Use arrow keys to select the default user level for accounts authenticated at this server. Press enter on <Next> to continue. P.S. See Account Level Introduction for more details. Add RADIUS Server Verification Verify the new configuration. 19
Add RADIUS step complete Add RADIUS server completed. Remote Authentication Manage Swap Select swap to swap the authentication order of 2 configurations. Xcalenets will check login with server 1 first. 20
Swap Server Step 1 Press enter <Select> to select the first server. Swap Server Step 2 Press enter <Select> to select the second server. 21

Remote Authentication Manage Delete Use arrow keys to highlight Delete to delete a configuration. Press enter on <OK> to continue. Delete Server Use arrow keys to select the configuration to delete. Press enter on <Delete> to continue. 23
Delete Server Verify Verify the configuration to delete. Press enter on <Yes> to continue. Delete Server completed Server deleted. 24
Service Restart Use arrow keys to highlight Service Restart. Press Enter on <Enter> to continue. Service Restart menu Use arrow keys to highlight your selection. Press enter on <Enter> to continue. 25
Service Restart - Xcalenets Controller This will restart the Xcalenets OpenFlow controller. Press enter on <Yes> to continue. P.S. OpenFlow connections to all switches will be disconnected until restart is complete. Service Restart - Xcalenets Controller restarted Xcalenets OpenFlow controller restart is complete. 26
Service Restart - Xcalenets Web UI This will restart the Xcalenets web UI. Service Restart - Xcalenets Web UI restarted Xcalenets Web UI restart is complete. 27
Service Restart - syslog This will restart the Xcalenets syslog process. P.S No new syslog entries will be saved until the restart is complete. Service Restart - syslog restarted Xcalenets syslog restart is complete. 28
