Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.1 Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.1 1 New features Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.1 is a hotfix version and not a full release build. As such, there is a special upgrade path detailed below: Upgrade path In order to upgrade to version 2.5.1, you must be starting from version 2.5.0. If you want to upgrade from an earlier version, you first need to upgrade to version 2.5.0, then apply the upgrade update to version 2.5.1. There are two major parts to the upgrade, you first need to update all your delegate hosts and then you need to update your master host. See the following procedure for detailed instructions. To upgrade from version 2.5.0 to 2.5.1, perform the following: 1 Download the Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.1 update ISO file from the Cisco Support site to your workstation. 2 Open your hypervisor client and log in as root, or as a user with superuser privileges, and then navigate to the virtual machine hosting your Control Center delegate host. If you have more than one delegate host, you will need to repeat this procedure on each of them. 3 Attach the update ISO file to the Control Center delegate host. a For vsphere: Click the CD/DVD drive icon and select CD/DVD drive 1 > Connect to ISO image on local disk. Then, in the Open dialog, select the update ISO file, and click Open. b For Hyper-V: In the Hardware area of the Settings dialog, select IDE Controller 1 > DVD Drive Then, click the Image file radio button, and click Browse. Finally, select the update ISO file, and click Open. 4 Gain access to the Control Center host, through the console interface of your hypervisor, or through a remote shell utility such as PuTTY and log in as the root user. 5 On the Appliance Administration menu, select Update System and press Enter. 5
Cisco UCS Performance Manager Release Notes 6 You will be prompted to confirm the update. Press Enter to confirm. Repeat this procedure for all delegate hosts. 7 Once you have updated all your delegate hosts, repeat the procedure for the master host. Once you confirm the update on your master host, your system will shutdown and then reboot. It will take several minutes for all the services to resume after the update. If you do not see this prompt, you have not successfully attached your local disk, which should contain the ISO update file. You will see output similar to the following when the update is successful. 6
Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.1 Fixed issues Table 1: Release 2.5.1 ID ZEN-28152 ZEN-28546 ZEN-28858 Description Include Compatibility Matrix in Planning Guide. Include latest documentation PDFs in build. Security issues regarding dnsmasq. ZPS-1706 zenucsevents used more memory than allocated if UCS domain has more than 150 blade/rack servers ZPS-2077 Erratic data collection from UCS domains Notes and workarounds ZEN-26898: Component count changes between versions 1.1.x and 2.x The following component counts are changed between versions 1.1.x and 2.x: Host Ethernet Interfaces In version 1.x, servers that are in the Removed state are shown and reflected in the Host Ethernet Interfaces count. They are not counted in version 2.x. Management Interfaces Only Model Management interfaces for their IPs are modeled. The../if-2 management interfaces are redundant and always have the same IP address as their */if-1 equivalent, so they can be ignored. See ZEN-12112. Aggregation Pools Port Channels and Standalone ports are now shown. Service Profiles, Virtual NICs, Virtual HBAs For service profiles, only instances are shown not templates. The Service Profile templates and related vhbas and vnics will be rejected on modeling. Only "instance" type service profiles are shown now. This affects vhbas and vnics component counts. For more information, see ZEN-15556. 7
Cisco UCS Performance Manager Release Notes Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.0 2 New features Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.0 provides the following new features: Upgrade path In order to upgrade to version 2.5.0, you must be starting from version 2.0.1, 2.0.2 or 2.0.3. If you want to upgrade from an earlier version, you first need to upgrade to version 2.0.3, then upgrade again to version 2.5.0. For more information on the upgrade process, see the Cisco UCS Performance Manager Upgrade Guide. Appliance installation changes and new storage layout Cisco UCS Performance Manager now has two appliances (one for the master host and one for the delegate). This has the advantage of a better storage layout so that the master is now split into 7 parts on separate virtual disks while the delegate has a reduced storage footprint. The new storage format is only applicable to new installs. Upgraded systems will still have the same storage layout as before the upgrade. Emergency shutdown Cisco UCS Performance Manager will automatically shutdown if storage space is predicted to fill up, which avoids a full disk causing data corruption. The affected services are marked as having been emergency stopped and will not start again until this condition is cleared by the administrator. For more information, see the Cisco UCS Performance Manager Administration Guide WAN outage support Services now stay up during a WAN outage. When the WAN comes back up, any service that is running will continue to run, while any service that has died will be rescheduled. Each pool has a new Worker Node Timeout setting that determines the time Cisco UCS Performance Manager will wait for disconnected worker nodes to rejoin this pool before moving services to another host in the pool. Services will not be rescheduled on a downed host until after the timeout passes. For more information, see the Cisco UCS Performance Manager Administration Guide. Maintenance window performance Improved performance by reducing the time it takes to change the production state on a large number of devices and devices with many components. Rolling restart of services Services with multiple instances will restart one at a time and will pull an image before stopping to minimize downtime. 8
