Digium Switchvox v6.1.2 IP PBX Configuration Guide 1 Introduction This document describes how to configure the Digium Switchvox IP PBX to interoperate with the Charter network. It does not provide any information how to provision, configure or use the features of Switchvox. Please refer to the documentation provided with the IP PBX or contact the vendor. 2 Configuration Setup 2.1 SIP Provider Tab To complete the SIP Provider tab, follow the step-by-step procedure. 1 Login as Admin into Switchvox 2 From the menu bar VoIP Providers screen opens On the Setup tab Navigate to Call Routing and VoIP Providers 3 Click Create SIP Provider button 4 On the Provider Information tab In the SIP Provider Name Modify SIP Provider screen opens. Example: CharterSIP Enter: The appropriate name 5 In the Your Account ID: Example: 8644385386 Enter: The appropriate pilot number 6 Confirm that Your Password: Left blank (no data) 7 In Hostname IP Address textbox Enter: The appropriate IP address 8 In Callback Extension Click the magnifier icon Note: Use the actual LAN IP address of the esbc in the network. Example: 10.70.89.50 Example: Charter One (5386) Select the appropriate phone extension from the list 9 At DTMF Mode Select from the drop-down menu RFC2833 10 Click Save SIP Provider button 11 Procedure completed 1

2.2 Peer Settings Tab To complete the Peer Setting tab, follow the step-by-step procedure. 2

1 Under the Peer tab At the Host Type From the drop-down menu Select Peer 2 Confirm the following: Host is a Switchvox PBX And Treat system s users like local users Are marked as NO 3 Confirm Jabber Hostname Is left blank 4 At Apply Incoming Call Rules to Provider Move drag button to Yes 5 Click Save SIP Provider button. 6 Procedure completed 2.3 Caller ID Setting Tab To complete the Caller ID tab, follow the step-by-step procedure. 1 On the Caller ID Setting tab At the Supports Changing Caller ID Slide the rocker to Yes 3

2 At Caller-ID method Select From Header 3 At the Caller ID Name Enter: Example: Chapter Appropriate name 4 At Caller ID Number Enter: Appropriate number Note: This is the pilot number of the subscription Example: 8644385386 5 Click Save SIP Provider button 6 Procedure completed 2.4 Connection Settings Tab To complete the Connection Settings tab, follow the step-by-step procedure. 1 On the Connection Settings tab At SIP Port Enter: 5060 2 At SIP Expiry (in seconds) Enter: 0 3 At Proxy Host Enter: Appropriate IP address Note: Use the LAN IP address of the esbc in the network. Example: 10.70.89.50 4

4 At Authentication User Enter: Appropriate number Note: This is the pilot number of the subscription Example: 8644385386 5 At Always Trust this Provider Slide rocker to Yes 6 Confirm the following: Quality Hosts Include user=phone in SIP Use Local Address in From Header Is left at No 7 Click the Save SIP Provider button 8 Procedure completed 2.5 Call Settings Tab To complete the Call Setting tab, follow the step-by-step procedure. 1 In the Call Setting tab Under Audio Codes At ULAW (default) Slide rocker to On 5

2 Confirm the following: ALAW G722 G726 SPEEX GSM ADPCM LPC10 Are left Off 3 Under Video Codecs Confirm H263 H263+ H264 Are left Off 4 Under Map Distinctive Rings Confirm Ring maps to number Are left blank (no data) 5 Under Call Setting At Enable Jitterbuffer Select Never 6 At Allow Reinvite Select Always 7 At Always Send Early Media Slide rocker to Yes 8 At Voicepulse Connect DID Workaround Slide rocker to Yes 9 Click the Save SIP Provider button 10 Procedure completed. 6

2.6 Outgoing Calls For outgoing calls, follow the step-by-step procedure 1 From the main menu screen, Click the Setup tab Click Outgoing Calls 2 Go to the next table 7

3 Many of the needed Outgoing Call Rules are created by default. The below is a single example (10 digit dialing) of how to create an Outgoing Call Rule 4 Click Create Outgoing Call Rule button 5 Go to the next table 8

The below is a single example (10 digit dialing) of how to create an Outgoing Call Rule 7 Click Create Outgoing Call Rule button 8 Rule Name is set to Long Distance for example 9 Number begins with the digits: Example: 91 is for example Enter digits 10 The rest of the number must be between: Enter 10 and 10 11 Before connecting the call, trim Enter the number of digits to trim 12 Primary Call Through Provider: Example: 1 digit (first) is trimmed from the number which is 9. Example: Charter is selected Select the appropriate from the drop-down 13 Click the Save Outgoing Call Rule button 14 Go to the next table 15 Click on the Caller ID Rules Tab 16 Click on Single Rule 17 Go to the next table 9

18 Rule Name Example is 8563330425 Enter the appropriate number 19 Extension Select the extension through the search function Example is 425 Note: Creating extensions is outside the scope of the guide, and must be created prior to this step. 20 Is making an outgoing call through rule: Select Any Outgoing Rule 21 Caller ID name to: Example is 8563330425 Enter the appropriate name 22 Caller ID number to: Example is 8563330425 Enter the appropriate Caller ID number 23 Click Save Single Caller ID Rule Repeat steps to repeat process as needed 24 Procedure completed 10

9 Number of digits to trim from the front Enter appropriate number Example is 7 Note: Trimmed digits will depend on the length of extensions provisioned. Trimming 7 digits implies a 3 digit extension. 10 Click Save Ranged DID Route button 11 Procedure completed 13
