Title: Installing the Tekram SCSI card. Question: Do you have a step-by-step procedure to install the Tekram SCSI card for use with a Digidata 132x series digitizers? Answer: Follow the step-by-step procedure indicated in this article. Should this fail to install the card, the card might be damaged. Contact MDC electrophysiology Tech Support for an exchange. The following procedure was tested under Windows XP. It is likely to be very similar for Windows 2000. If you have an earlier version of Windows, the manual for the Tekram card should contain the relevant information. ONLY IF YOU HAVE VISTA: If you are using Windows Vista, you will need to download the driver from link on the web version of this KB article. If the card is not inserted in the computer PCI slot at this point, start with the numbered steps below. If you already tried to install the card and failed, perform the lettered steps first. These steps assume that the card is already in the computer but is not being recognized properly. a) Reboot the computer. If the Found New Hardware wizard appears after Windows loads, proceed directly with the NUMBERED steps below. If the Found New Hardware wizard does not appear, proceed with the next step. b) Go to the Device Manager of Windows (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager). Find the entry marked SCSI and RAID controllers. Click on the + sign to expand the entry. If the driver appears as in step 12 below, everything is fine and the card should work fine. If there is an entry that does not match the one in step 12 below, you might have chosen the incorrect driver, or Windows installed the wrong driver. In this case, double-click on the driver to bring up the Properties page for the driver. Click on the Driver tab. Click on the Update Driver button. Continue at step 9 below. 1 Ignore the manual that comes with the Tekram card. This manual has not been updated to include the latest driver and Operating System revisions. 2 Make sure you find the driver CD-ROM that come with the Tekram card and keep it at hand. 3 Turn OFF the computer. 4 Open the computer case and insert the card into an empty PCI slot. Make sure that card is fully inserted into the slot. You may need to push the card down to force a snug fit. 5 Close the computer case. DO NOT attach the SCSI cable yet. 6 Start the computer. 7 During the boot process, you may see a DOS-like screen from the SCSI BIOS itself. After scanning the available SCSI ports, it will show you No BIOS disk found! SCSI BIOS not installed! This is normal. 8 Once Windows loads, you will see the Found New Hardware bubble, followed by the Found New Hardware Wizard. The following screenshot shows the Update Wizard. You will see the Found New Hardware wizard if you are doing the installation for the first time. If you do not see the Found New Hardware bubble, or if it appears that drivers are being installed automatically, proceed directly to step 12 [Tekram000.jpg]

10 Insert the CD that came in the SCSI card box at this point. If autorun is activated for your CD drive, the Wizard will continue after you insert the CD. If nothing appears to happen, click on Next. (If you have Windows Vista, you will need to Unzip the drivers folder and manually install the drivers. You are finished with the installation. If you still have trouble with driver installation, continue below. If the entry in the Device Manager contains a question or exclamation mark, it is likely that Windows picked the wrong driver to install.
