Systems Interface User Group (SIUG) Report Platform Migration Overview and Opportunities for Testing May 3, 2011
Report Platform Migration - Overview The California ISO is planning to release software affecting the external facing graphical user interface (GUI) reports generating Scheduling Infrastructure Business Rules (SiBR) and Credit Management Report information to market participants in the production environment during the Monthly Release slated on June 14, 2011. This release is mainly a software conversion of the existing reports based on the newly ISO-adopted reporting technology. A pre-production external testing period is planned to be available from May 23 to June 3, 2011. MAP STAGE SIBR and Credit Management Business Practice Manual (BPM), Transmission Registry (TR) and Resource Interconnection Management System (RIMS) reports will be tested internally by ISO business users. Report Platform Migration - Objective The objective of User External testing is to have the market participants thoroughly test the market facing reports to ensure that the report conversion was successful. External Testing will focus on a side-by-side comparison of the newly converted report and the older report counterpart to ensure that all data is accurate and the same common look-and-feel is kept intact. Report Platform Migration - Approach The MAP STAGE environment will be provided for testing during a two week period between May 23 and June 3. External users should access the MPP portal and make sure that links for both the old reports and the new converted reports are showing up for the application (The URL's will be provided by Email one week prior to testing). Open the new report link with your certification and make sure that you are seeing all the reports you are supposed to see and run. Execute converted reports and make sure that the look and feel matches that of the old report except for the exception list generated above. The testing is simply a one-to-one comparison of the existing reports to the newly converted reports. Make sure that the download options provide reports in different formats. If issues are found, check the issue against the Known Differences list first to determine if the issue is valid. If the issue is valid, please log into CIDI and submit a ticket. CAISO Client Services is the incoming point of contact for the external users for issue logging. External users will be notified by CIDI when the ticket has been closed. Page 6
