These ptins are ften referred t as StatOpts as they are typically stred in a StatOpts.xml file with yur Statistica implementatin. The user interface custmizatins are available in desktp Statistica when nt using ribbn bars as yu can custmize the menus and tlbars. This is mst easily dne by right clicking n the tlbar r menu lcatin and selecting Custmize (further help n this tpic is available in the Statistica help press F1 when yu have the Custmize dialg pen). All ther ptins are defined within the Optins item in the middle f the Hme tab when using ribbn bars, r under the Tls menu when nt using ribbn bars. Default Cnfiguratin Overview The default cnfiguratin f Statistica ptins starts each user with a set f predefined and hard cded ptins, ptimized fr best perfrmance. If using Statistica desktp, after the initial start, the user can then recnfigure the ptins and custmize the desktp user interface t meet with their specific needs, and frm then n, when the user restarts Statistica desktp they will be using their wn custmized cnfiguratin. Methd f custmizatin fr Server (WebStatistica) cnfiguratin will be discussed in anther tpic. General Cnfiguratin The cnfiguratin starts with a StatOpts.xml file lcated in the Statistica applicatin path (typically C:\Prgram Files\Statistica\Statistica X\ where X is the versin number f the Statistica installatin). This file is set t read-nly and cntains XML attribute t frward the applicatin t use the Statistica ptins lcated in the Machine Stre. If the StatOpts.xml file is nt present in the applicatin path, Statistica will lk in the User Stre directly. If the file is nt read-nly, the XML attribute t frward the applicatin is nt defined, and the user has full access t edit files in the Statistica applicatin path (nt recmmended), then Statistica will use the StatOpts.xml file there and g n further. 6 TIBCO Statistica Optins Cnfiguratin
Installatin The Machine Stre is the Windws prgram data, r All Users prfile lcatin. Typically this is the C:\PrgramData\StatSft\Statistica flder. T cnfirm the lcatin f this prgram data lcatin, pen a Windws cmmand prmpt and brwse t %allusersprfile%. This file is als set t read-nly and cntains XML attributes t: 1. Frward the applicatin t use the Statistica ptins lcated in the User Stre. 2. If multimedia was installed, then the path the multimedia initializatin file. If the file is nt present in the Machine Stre, and the user has access t this lcatin, then anther StatOpts.xml will be created in this lcatin (in a subflder with the full versin f the Statistica applicatin), but Statistica will still nly use the ptins in the User Stre. If the file is nt read-nly, the XML attribute t frward the applicatin is nt defined, and the user has full access t edit files in the Machine Stre (nt recmmended), then Statistica will use the StatOpts.xml file there and g n further. The User Stre is the Windws user prfile lcatin. This may be lcated in C:\Users\<user name>\appdata\raming\statsft\statistica\<full Statistica versin> flder. T cnfirm the user prfile lcatin, pen a Windws cmmand prmpt and brwse t %userprfile%. This file is nly created after Statistica desktp is first launched. This is the file that is edited whenever ptins r custmizatins are made during the user s sessin. This tpic will discuss hw the StatOpts.xml files are cnfigured after the installatin. Single User The StatOpts.xml files are created directly during the installatin prcess (hard cded as part f the installatin prcess). The default StatOpts.xml file is created in the Statistica applicatin path and Machine Stre as described in the Details sectin abve. Statistica Server Wrkstatin Installatin The Wrkstatin Installatin that cmes as part f an Statistica Server r Cncurrent Statistica installatin is different that the single user installatin as the server installatin prtin has t cme first. S nce the server has been installed, it creates the wrkstatin installatin media that includes an pprtunity t custmize the StatOpts.xml file that is placed in the Statistica applicatin path and Machine Stre befre running the installatin prcess n each wrkstatin. In the Statistica applicatin path n the server, flders are created fr the 32-bit (Wrkstatin Installer 32) and 64-bit (Wrkstatin Installer 64) versins f the Statistica wrkstatin. When users run this installatin, they run the setup.exe lcated in either f these flders. The installatin prcess lks up ne flder frm the setup.exe (s typically in the Statistica applicatin path n the server) fr the StatOpts.xml file lcated there and cpies it int the Statistica applicatin path n the wrkstatin. It then lks in the same flder fr the StatSvr.xml file and cpies it int the Machine Stre n the wrkstatin (renaming it t StatOpts.xml when cpied). The ptins can t typically be directly influenced using these files unless changes are made t make the Statistica applicatin path r Machine Stre fully accessible t all the users n the wrkstatin (nt recmmended). Other methds fr custmizing the ptins files are available in versins greater than Statistica 9 (discussed in a later tpic). Statistica Server Cnfiguratin Overview A Statistica Server installatin invlves bth the use f desktp Statistica and WebStatistica. S the infrmatin prvided in the previus sectin prvides details n hw the desktp Statistica ptins are laded and cnfigured. This tpic therefre describes infrmatin related t Statistica Server (WebStatistica) use. When using the Web interface, mst f the ptins are defined within that Web interface and are nt stred int a StatOpts.xml file. Details This is accmplished by creating a DefOpts.xml file and placing it int the Statistica applicatin path. T create a DefOpts.xml file t use, an administratr wuld pen a Statistica desktp instance with the default setup, edit the ptins t meet the required need, being very careful t nly use file paths that are available t all users, clse Statistica desktp, cpy the StatOpts.xml file frm the administratr s User Stre (see Default Cnfiguratin tpic abve fr details) int a temprary lcatin, rename it t DefOpts.xml, and paste it int the Statistica applicatin path. Additinal functinality is available; by manually editing the DefOpts.xml file, the administratr can precnfigure the ptins s that ribbn bars are never available (in case custmized menus r buttns are required). Additinal Infrmatin There is a special cmmand line argument available fr Statistica desktp that allws the user t define which StatOpts.xml file t use when running Statistica. Infrmatin n this functinality is available in the Statistica help and is as fllws: /statpts= The Statistica ptins file, statpts.xml, cntains all user custmizatins and settings. These include the settings n the Tls - Optins pages, custmizatin f menus/tlbars, dialg psitins, and mre. By default, Statistica uses the statpts.xml file lcated in user-specific data area, fr example, C:\Dcuments and Settings\USERNAME\Applicatin Data\StatSft\statpts.xml (where USERNAME is yur specific user name). When this cmmand-line parameter is used, it verrides the default lcatin f the statpts.xml file. The parameter immediately after the = is the full path name f the Statistica ptins file t use. Fr example: statist.exe /statpts=c:\testdir\statpts.xml Hwever, there are tw limitatins t this cmmand line argument functinality: 1. If using Statistica Enterprise Manager, when editing reprts r running reprts in desktp Statistica, the StatOpts.xml in the User Stre will still be used. 2.
