9. FREEDOM-Pad MAP CONFIGURATION a. Launch ArcPad (the map application) by tapping Start, then tap the ArcPad icon from the program list on the ipaq. Note: If the Central Control is not using a map or is using a Scorecard map, it is not necessary to launch ArcPad. Please tap the FREEDOM-Pad icon on the program list and skip to page 34. b. Contact your local Rain Bird distributor to obtain your ArcPad Registration number. If you are unable to get the Registration number immediately, ArcPad will operate and function in the evaluation mode. The evaluation mode will time out in 20 minutes, however you may launch ArcPad again as needed. c. To add the map layers to the FREEDOM- Pad, tap on the Add Layers icon. 26

d. Check the layers that correspond to the three-letter extension of the database that will be used in the FREEDOM-Pad. e. If the Path is not displaying the map layers, tap on the Folder Browser and select the correct folder. This will be in My Documents\Map_Cirrus-xxx (Cirrusxxx is the 3-digit file extension from the central control database being used). f. Once the layers have been added, they will appear on the screen but the colors will not be set. The colors will need to be changed to highlight the different features on the map. g. Tap on the Layer Tool icon. 27

h. The layers will need to be moved to provide a logical hierarchy. This makes sure that no item is hidden behind another layer. The first layer that should be placed on the top is the Cirrus_Station0 layer. The layer below the Cirrus_Station0 should be Cirrus_Area0. i. To move the layer, tap to highlight it and tap the up arrow until it is the top layer. Move the remaining layers to complete the hierarchy. It is customary to have the bunkers and greens near the top and the fairway layer on the bottom. j. Next, adjust the layer properties. Tap the layer that will be adjusted. Start with the Cirrus_Station0 layer, as it needs to be set first and hyperlinked with the FREEDOM-Pad activation program. Tap the Properties icon. 28

k. Once the Layer Properties have appeared, choose the Hyperlink folder by tapping on the folder tab. l. To Hyperlink the stations on the map with the FREEDOM-Pad activation program, tap the browse arrow in the Hyperlink field, and then select CMD by tapping it. m. In order to see the labels for the Station and Area layers, tap the Labels folder, check the Label Features in this layer box, choose the color and size of the text, and select Label in the Text Field Box. 29

n. Selecting the Point Style folder will also provide the opportunity to change the color and size of the points of these fields. o. Adjusting the Scale range will hide the Points and Labels of the Station and Area layers so the map is not cluttered all of the time. You may have to alter the scale until it satisfies you according to the scale of your map. p. Setting the range of the Station layer from 0 to about 15,000 is a good starting point, and the Area layer from about 0 to 20,000 should be close. Since this scale setting is based on the original drawing, these settings will change from one map to another. q. For all of the layers of the map itself, select the Polygon Style folder. Or if the layer is points or lines, the Point Style or Line Style folder. Then choose the colors, size, etc. r. Checking the Fill Polygons option will fill the area completely with color. 30

s. Once all of the layer properties have been completed for all of the layers, save the project by tapping on the browse arrow and choose Save Map As. This will allow the map to be opened quickly and will retain all of the properties that were adjusted. t. Enter a project name by typing or writing it in the Name box by using the keyboard icon. Then tap OK to save it. 31

u. From this point forward, in order to open the map when ArcPad is started, tap the Open Folder icon on the tool bar, and then select the map name by tapping it. v. The first view displayed will be the extended picture of the golf course. If the complete course is not seen, tap the globe icon. w. Three options are available for navigating on the map: 1) Zoom in with the plus magnifying glass. To do this, make sure the plus button is indented, then place the stylus on the screen and draw a square by dragging down and to the right. When the stylus is removed from the screen, the map will zoom into the area the square surrounded. 2) Zoom out with the minus magnifying glass. Choose the minus magnifying glass in the drop down menu. Then tap stylus on the screen, it will zoom out from that area to a different scale. Keep tapping to continue to take the map out further. 32

3) Pan the map by choosing the hand icon. To move/slide the map, place the stylus on the screen, and then drag it to the preferred location. x. Once the preferred area is visible on the screen, select the FREEDOM Handheld icon to select the hyperlink to the FREEDOM-Pad Program. Tap the stylus on the circular station symbol for operation. Note: This will start the FREEDOM-Pad activation program the first time this is done on the map. 33

10. FREEDOM-Pad STATION ACTIVATION AND DATABASE CHANGES a. If the FREEDOM-Pad operation screen has not been activated before, the first screen will be blank. The Program and Course information will need to be activated. To activate them, tap File to bring up the options list: 1) Data Source identifies the database to be used. 2) Course 1, 2, or 3 identifies the station information for each of three courses related to the database. 3) Program List displays the Programs and Schedules from the Central Control system for activation. b. Select Data Source, click on the Folder drop down menu and select the correct database that you are working with. 34

c. Then tap File and select the course that you synchronized to the ipaq earlier on. d. Once the Course information is chosen and loaded, the Hole Tree view will be displayed on the screen. Tap on the plus (+) sign to expand the hole to see the various areas, then tap on the (+) sign of an area to expand it to see the individual stations contained in that area. e. At this point, it is possible to send a command to a station, or change the properties of a station. In the lower task bar, an icon is available to switch between these two tasks. If the icon is a radio, it will default to the station command options. If the icon is hand holding a page, it will default to the database change properties. This can be switched back and forth at any time during the operation of the FREEDOM- Pad. 35

1) Tap on a station to bring up the command options for that station. All of the station command options on the FREEDOM-System radio are available by tapping the browse arrow. f. To change the Run Time tap the + or buttons to alter the task. Once the changes are made, tap the Send button. The sending command will be displayed and the tone will be sent through the FREEDOM Handheld to the central computer. 1) Choosing the Properties option provides the ability to change station database information in the central control computer. The changes on the FREEDOM-Pad can be a Table Value or you can enter in a hard number. To change the value, tap in the cell to highlight the area to be changed and edit it by tapping the keyboard icon. Alternatively, use the drop down arrow to change the Table Value. Next, tap the Save Changes button to keep the changes. Once the changes are made, it will be necessary to place the FREEDOM- Pad in the Sync cradle at the central control computer in the office. 36

g. If the Program List was activated in Step 1, the Programs and Schedules from the Central Control system will be displayed. Several options are available to activate any Program(s) or Schedule(s) in the central computer. To activate a Program or Schedule, tap the (+) sign next to the program name to expand the list of individual schedules. h. Once the list is expanded, select Program- 1 to turn ON or OFF the complete program, or select an individual schedule to activate it the same way as the FREEDOM-System. 1) Once the activation choice is made, tap the Send command to forward the command to the central computer. 37

i. Click on Properties to show the schedule properties. j. You can adjust schedule properties on this screen and save the changes. k. Choosing the Cancel All option provides the ability to stop all irrigation currently active. A confirmation screen will be displayed to prevent this from occurring accidentally. l. Tapping the Book icon will display the log of all FREEDOM-Pad commands sent during periods of activation. 38

m. The Undo command will reverse the last station or schedule activation. This option will ask for confirmation as well. n. The Do command provides access to the System Mode which allows for turning the complete system OFF or ON through the Set System Auto Off/On command. o. The Do command also allows the user to Open or Close the Access Window for the use of the FREEDOM-System. A Password must be entered if one was used at the central computer. 39

p. Tapping the Course icon at any time will provide access to the course map in ArcPad. 11. UPDATING THE CENTRAL COMPUTER WITH FIELD CHANGES a. Tap the Do button and select Sync Properties. Click Yes to continue with the synchronization process. b. Once a window appears that states that Properties have been put in Sync folder, it is ready to be synchronized. Place the ipaq in the cradle and once ActiveSync has synchronized, the property changes have been updated. c. FREEDOM-Pad will now ask to confirm the changes that have been made. Check off the changes that you wish to make and click Update. 40
