DataSouth Documax A3300 Configuring the DataSouth A3300 Printer (Canada) 1. DataSouth Documax A3300 (Configuration Setup) A. Basic Configuration: A unique benefit of this printer is its ability to store the settings for commonly used applications in what is called a Profile. The Datasouth printers are being shipped with 7 preprogrammed WORLDSPAN Profiles (stored in the printer's non-volatile memory). A Profile is loaded with a few keystrokes. 1. Power printer on. 2. Select Profile from list below to match the installation. Press PROFILE several times until correct PROFILE name is displayed on LCD. List of Profiles: PROFILE #1: 7TKT Ticket stock that has a 3.5-inch header, followed by the 3.5-inch ticket. For example, BSP Canada. PROFILE #2: 3TKT Ticket stock that is 3.5 inches long. For example, the Canada E-Ticket. PROFILE #3: 11 ITIN Any 11-inch itinerary stock. PROFILE #4: DWN LINE Any 11 inch itinerary stock used with an itinerary printer installed as an STP Downline printer. PROFILE #5: SATA TKT The Canadian Sata stock. PROFILE #6: 7TKT MX Ticket printer set for BSP Mexico. PROFILE #7: 14 ITIN Any 14-inch itinerary stock.
B. Loading the printer 1. Press the On/Off Line key to place the printer on line. 2. Load paper into the main tractors. Press the Load key to load forms. 3. Press the On/Off Line key to go back on line. To Adjust Tear Off (see instruction below). 2. Alignment Instructions A. Tear Off Adjustment In a demand document application, the form will be advanced to a tear off position when a document is printed. When the forms are in this position, the last printed form may be removed by pulling the perforation against the tear edge of the cover. If the perforation does not come to rest at the tear edge, the tear off may be adjusted as follows: 1. With the control panel door shut, press the Tear Off key. The form should move up to the current tear location. Using the Adjust Up key, or the Adjust Down key, move the paper until the perforation is located at the desired tear off position. 2. Press the Tear Off key. The form will return to the current print position. This adjustment affects the tear distance feature and is automatically saved in memory for the current profile and will be applied when forms are reloaded. 3. The adjustments will not take effect until the stock is reloaded. To reload stock after a tear off adjustment, press Park/Path until audible alarm has sounded and appropriate LOAD STOCK warning is flashing on the printer LCD. Then press Load/Form Feed, the printer will then position the paper at the first print line location. Then press On/Off Line to place printer online. If printing is starting on the incorrect position, follow the steps below: C. Adjusting the Top of Form (First Print Line) 1. Open Keypad door. The Display will read M1 Page Formats. Press the Adjust Form key. The form will advance until the bottom of the first print line is positioned just above the tear off bar for viewing; the Display will toggle between two messages, ADJ First Print Line and Use Value Keys. 2. Use the Value Up or Value Down keys to move the paper up or down to the position desired for the first line of print. The line directly above the tear bar will be the first print line. 3. Press the Adjust Form key or close the Keypad door. The printer will reverse feed the form back to print position. This adjustment affects the Load feature and is automatically saved in memory for the current profile and will apply the next time forms are loaded. 4. The adjustments will not take effect until the stock is reloaded. To reload stock after a first print line adjustment, press Park/Path (until audible alarm has sounded) and appropriate LOAD STOCK warning is flashing on the printer LCD. Then press Load/Form Feed the printer will then position the paper at the new first print line location. Then press On/Off Line to place printer online
D. Run Self Test 1. Open the Keypad Door to access the Setup Menu. 2. Press the Feature (up arrow) key once. The LCD will show "Run Self Test". 3. Press the Enter key to start the self-test. The display will alternate as follows:<diagnostics> and "Enter" to Stop. 4. To stop the self-test, press the Enter key or close the Keypad door. 3. Print or Change Profiles For a full listing of Profile settings, see the table at the bottom of the Troubleshooting section of this document. A. Print Profile Settings Verify the profile settings match the Worldspan profiles (if you have not purchased your printer with the actual Worldspan preprogrammed profiles). 1. Make certain 20 columns or wider paper is loaded in the printer. 2. Press the On/Off Line key to take printer off line. 3. Before entering Setup Mode, press the Profile key until it displays the profile you wish to print. 4. Open the Keypad door and use the Next Menu key to go to Menu 9. The display will read: M9 Diagnostics 5. Press the Feature (down arrow) key until the display reads: <Print Profile> 6. Press the enter key. The printer will print a listing of the profile feature settings. 7. Close the Keypad Door to exit the Setup Mode. 8. Press the On/Off Line key to return to normal operation. Should you need to modify any of the profile settings, follow the steps below. B. Change Profile Features 1. Press the On/Off Line Key to take the printer off line. 2. Press Park key to park paper. 3. Open the Keypad Door to enter Setup Mode. 4. Press the Feature (down arrow) until value is located. 5. Press the Value (up arrow) key to change to new value. 6. Press the enter key to save the new value. 7. Close the Keypad Door to exit the Setup Mode. The LCD will read: Press "Profile" to Save Settings. 8. Press Profile key to save entry. 9. Press the Load key to load paper (resets top of form). 10. Press the On/Off Line key to place the printer back on line. 4. Troubleshooting A. What do you do if your printer double-spacing. 1. Disabling Auto LF to prevent line spacing (varies of you have Line Feeds selected in HPM) 2. Press the On/Off Line key to take the printer offline. 3. Press Park key to park paper. 4. Open the Keypad Door to enter Setup Mode. 5. Press the Next Menu button until you come to Menu 4. 6. Press the Feature Down button until the display reads Auto LF Enabled. 7. Press the Value Up button to change the display to Auto LF Disabled. 8. Press the ENTER key to save the new value..
9. Close the Keypad Door to exit the Setup Mode The LCD will read: Press "Profile" to Save Settings. Press PROFILE key to save entry. 10. Press LOAD/FORM FEED to load paper (resets top of form). 11. Press the On/Off Line key to place the printer back on line. B. My Document Won t Print (on the A3300 printer). 1. Verify the printer is not configured as a Windows printer (local or networked printer). If it is, it can either be deleted from Windows or the port settings can be modified so that it prints to a file. If it is not removed it will conflict with the Worldspan HPM software. Refer to the Installation guide for serial settings (the installation guide COM Port Settings for HPM) 2. Verify that the printer address loaded in HPM (by going to Host Print Manager Configuration ) 3. Right click on the Host Print Module icon on you system tray and select HPM Status 4. Make sure the printer address is loaded in HPM Status If it is not you may have to close and re-open HPM (Right click on the icon and select close, then click Start then select Run and enter HPM beside open and click ok Repeat step 2 5. Stop and start the printer by entering YSTPXXXXXX (XXXXXX=printer address). You should get the response OK if you don t, then re-enter. Then make the entry YSTRXXXXXX (XXXXXX=printer address). 6. Verify that the printer cable has the correct pin-outs (Worldspan GDS Printer Cabling document). 7. If none of the above solves the problem, you may be required to purchase Worldspan pre-programmed profiles. This is provided as a chip which needs to be replaced on the actual printer. 8. If you have purchased your printer from Omnidata, this should not apply to you, but if you are experiencing problems then you can troubleshoot and check the profiles.
