About This Manual IMPORTANT INFORMATION This Installation Guide is for the Wintech Digital XDS200 ISO JTAG Emulator product. The Wintech Digital XDS200 ISO JTAG Emulator is a module to be attached to a PC for hardware engineers and software programmers to develop DSP applications. The text paragraphs in this Guide are very important for proper device functioning and for preventing any possible damages on the Wintech Digital XDS200 ISO JTAG Emulator device and project target board. 1. Introduction 1.1 Overview The XDS200 ISO is a JTAG emulator for TI embedded processors. It offers a good balance of cost and performance. It fits between the ultra low cost XDS100 and the high performance XDS560v2 products. The XDS200 supports both traditional IEEE 1149.1 (JTAG) and IEEE 1149.7 (cjtag). Figure 1 4
Scope The scope of this document is limited to providing system-level overview for the XDS200 ISO product. In general, attempt is made to provide brief information about relevant peripherals or specification for clarity. Readers should refer to related reference material for detailed information. 1.2 Features This product has the following hardware features: AM1802 CPU 64 Mb SDRAM USB 2.0 XILINX CPLD 3 Status LEDs 4 kv ESD protection The xds200 ISO uses the ISO7240M for isolation which has the following specifications: 150-Mbps Signal Rate Options UL 1577, IEC 61010-1, IEC 60950-1 and CSA approved 4 kv ESD protection Operates with 3.3-V supply High Electromagnetic immunity This product will support following functions: IEEE 1149.1 debug IEEE 1149.7 debug Boot mode control on EMU pins 5

2 Quick Install XDS200 ISO Operating Guide 2.1 Quick Install Procedures This Guide describes the steps to install the XDS200 ISO JTAG Emulator in the following order: 1. Make sure Code Composer Studio IDE 5.3 or greater is installed on the PC. All XDS200 ISO USB drivers and CCS v5 drivers are include with the CCS v5 software installation,or as a update. 2. Install the XDS560v2 JTAG Emulator hardware: connect the included USB cable to a USB port on the host computer,then connect the USB cable to the XDS200 ISO. Windows will recognize the new hardware connection and complete the XDS200 ISO installation automatically. 3. Run CCS, configure CCS and debug the target. 7
2.2 Detail Install Procedures This Guide describes the steps to install the XDS200 ISO JTAG Emulator in the following order: 1. Install Code Composer Studio IDE 5.3 or greater; 2. Connect the USB cable to host computer; 3. Connect the USB cable to the emulator; 4. If the USB cable is properly connected, the system will prompt to find a new hardware; 5. Run CCS. Click View->Target Configurations on the main menu to activate the Target Configurations window; 6. Click Target->New Target Configurations to create a new configuration or double on an existing configuration to modify it; 7. Select Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB Emulator form the Connection menu; 8. Select a target to match your target board (Figure 2); Figure 2 9. Click Save to save the configuration; 10. Apply power to the target processor board; 11. Click the view menu and select target configurations to expose the configuration that have been built or imported. A new tab labeled Target configurations will become available in the CCS windows; 8
12. Expand the User Defined folder,right-chick on the configuration that has been created and click launch Selected Configuration ; 13. CCS will now attempt to connect to the target processor through the XDS200 ISO ; 14. CCS may now be used to download code and debug code on the target board. 2.3 XDS200 ISO LEDS The XDS200 ISO has three LEDs which provide status information about the operation of the XDS200 ISO.
