1. Introduction This operation manual will introduce the functions of our futures quotation services. Futures Quotation Service contains the following categories: 1. Futures quotation 2. Options quotation 3. Futures Market Depth 4. Options Market Depth 5. Charts 6. News 7. Price Alert 8. Language Selection 2
2. Basic operation 2.1 Screen Layout Text Box Navigation Bar Main Screen Text box Select a futures or options in the box or type the futures or options code and then press ENTER. Navigation Bar The navigation buttons on the right list all the major categories of displays. A category appears when you click on the category button, such as Futures Page or Chart. Main Screen Specify and display a category after clicking on a button on the Right Navigation Bar 3
3. Futures Page Futures Page gives you real-time streaming price information of all futures. 3.1 Select the futures to display (a) To display futures page, you can press the [ you can select individual futures from the pull-down menu. ] button on Right Navigation Bar. Besides, (b) Futures price information includes Previous Close, Last Quantity, Bid/Ask Quantity, Change, Change (%), Premium, Volume, COP, Open, High, Low, Close, Settlement, Open Interest, Expiry Date and Month High/Low. 4
3.2 To display charts In Futures Page, you can display 1-minute or tick charts of HSI Futures in current/next month. You can click on the icons on the top right-hand side, then the chart will be shown at the bottom. (a) HSI Futures 1-min Chart (Current & Next Month) To view the HSI Futures trend in 1-minute Chart, you can click on [ ] icon to display current month HSI Futures 1-minute line chart or click on [ ] icon to display next month HSI Futures 1-minute line chart in the bottom half of the screen. (b) HSI Futures Tick Chart (Current & Next Month) To view the HSI Futures trend in 1-minute Chart, you can click on [ ] icon to display current month HSI Futures tick chart or click on [ ] icon to display next month HSI Futures tick chart in the bottom half of the screen. 5
(c) Chart in Print Version To print the 1-minute chart, you can click on [ ] icon to view the chart. (d) Futures details To back to futures details, simply click on [ ] icon to return to the futures homepage. 6
3.3 Futures Market Depth Besides market quotes provided in Futures Page, Future Market Depth gives you the bid/ask queue of the best 5 orders of selected futures. To view this page, you can select Futures Depth from the selection bar on top left corner. Also, you can view the chart showing current or next month HSI Futures 1-minute charts or tick charts underneath the market quotes. 7
4. Options Page Options page gives you real-time streaming data of options listed in the HKFE. Information includes Volume, Last Quantity, Bid/Ask Quantity, Strike Price of both Call and Put options. To view options page, you can click on [ ] icon at the right navigation bar. 4.1 To select and view options Options products with different contract months can be selected from the pull-down menu. Moreover, you can also enter the strike price in the text box or select from the pull-down menu at the top right corner. 8
4.2 Options Market Depth Options Market Depth also gives you additional bid/ask queue of the best 5 orders of your selected options. To view this page, you can select Options Depth from the selection bar on top left corner. Strike Price 9
5. News It provides you the latest financial market news regarding futures and options. A pop-up window will be shown by clicking on [ ] icon at the Right Navigation Bar. You can select different kinds of news by choosing HK Market, Company or Latest. Press Previous or Next to see previous or next pages of news. Select News Hong Kong Market News - Display all the news headlines about Hong Kong Financial Market Company News - List all news headlines related to a stock you select Latest News - Display all news headlines from all of news sources available 10
6. Chart Page You can view the charts of HSI Futures and Mini HSI Futures in spot or next month by clicking [ ] icon on the Right Navigation Bar. Please move the mouse cursor over the chart, you can view the Open, High, Low, Close and Volume of the corresponding time internal on the top of the chart. Select Futures Top Tool Bar Price Display Technical Layers The Top Tool Bar mainly helps you to analyze the chart in a more clear way and lets you to choose the time interval and chart type for displaying the charts. Moreover, you can set parameters for technical analysis of your charts by pressing [ ] or [ ] and then selecting technical indicators and time scale required. 11
6.1 Selecting Futures Please select the futures you would like to display from the pull-down menu at top right corner. 6.2 Selecting the Time Interval (1) You can browse through the choice of time intervals in the Time Scale list by pressing the [ ] icon. Scroll up or down to select a period to display the chart. Time Scale Intra Day Inter Day 1-Minute (1 Day) Daily (6 Months) 5-Minute (1 Day) Daily (1 Year) 10-Minute (3 Days) Daily (3 Years) 15-Minute (5 Days) Weekly (1 Year) 30-Minute (10 Days) Weekly (3 Years) Hourly (10 Days) Monthly (5 Years) Hourly (20 Days) (2) You can click on the icons of Time Intervals at the Top Tool Bar. 6.3 Selecting the Chart Type To select a chart type to display, you can click on the [ Top Tool Bar. You can select either one of the following chart types, ] icon of the desired chart type at the 1. Bar 2. Line 3. Candle 6.4 Using Technical Indicators Technical Analysis Indicators (called Indicators, Technical Layers, Technical Indicators ) are tools for futures analysis in charts. You can click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar to show the Indicators list. Scroll up or down and click on the desired Indicator to display it. 13
You can select one of the following technical indicators in Price Display and each of Technical Layers. Price Display SMA (Simple Moving Average) Bollinger (Bollinger Bands) Technical Layer(s) Volume Turnover RSI (Relative Strength Index) MACD (Moving Average of Convergence and Divergence) Fast Stochastic Slow Stochastic William %R 6.5 Browsing Tools 1 Zoom This function allows you to magnify a range of the selected data to display in the chart. Click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar and then move your mouse to select area to zoom in. If you need to expand the chart further, click the Zoom icon again. 2 Normalize This function restores the chart into normal size and displays it as the selected time period. Simply click on the [ ] icon to restore the magnified chart into normal size. 3 Show Pointer (Cursor) This function enables the scrolling over pricing function of the chart. You can click on the [ ] at the Top Tool Bar to toggle on or off this function. After enabling this function, there will be a vertical line to assist your analysis on charts. If you move the pointer, top of Chart will show the data which the cursor is pointing, such information includes the Time, Opening, Day High/Low, Closing as well as Volume. 14
6.6 Drawing Tools 1 Horizontal Line This function allows you to add horizontal lines in the graph. You can click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar to toggle on it. Move the cursor to the level in the Price Display and Technical Layers sections and then click at where you want to add the horizontal line(s). When the horizontal line function is toggled on (The horizontal line of the icon is shadowed when this function is activated.), you can simply click on the graph to add the horizontal line again and again. To toggle off this function, click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar. 2 Add Line This function allows you to draw straight lines in the graph. You can click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar to toggle it on. Move the cursor in the Price Display and Technical Layers sections, click on the point where you want to start to draw the straight line(s) and drag to another point to end the line. When the Add Line function is toggled on (The straight line of the icon is shadowed when this function is activated), you can simply drag and drop on the graph to add the straight line again and again. To toggle off this function, click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar. 15
3 Parallel Lines This function allows you to plot parallel lines in the graph for both Price Display and Technical Layer sections. First you need to click on the [ ] icon and draw a straight line on the graph. Then you can right click on the straight line you have just drawn on the graph, and a parallel line will be appeared. To adjust the location of the parallel line, you could click on the parallel line and move the cursor to where you like. When the Parallel Lines function is toggled on (The parallel lines of the icon are shadowed when this function is activated.), you can simply drag and drop on the graph to add the parallel lines again and again. To toggle off this function, click on the [ ] icon at the Left Tool Bar. 4 Delete Line This function allows you to delete a selected line you have drawn in the graph. You can delete a selected line by pressing the [ you want to delete. ] at the Top Tool Bar, then clicking on the line(s) 16
5 Delete All Lines This function allows you to delete all the line you have drawn in the graph. You can click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar to activate it. 6.7 Enable All Indicators This function shows all Technical Layers of the chart. You can click on the [ Tool Bar to enable this function. ] icon at the Top 6.8 Disable All Indicators This function hides all Technical Layers of the chart and show the Price Display section at full. You can click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar to enable this function. Or if you want to hide only one of the Technical Layers, you can click on the Technical Layer List at the Top Tool Bar to choose None to hide the technical layers. 17
6.9 Change Color This function changes the color of Line display in Technical Layer(s). You can click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar to change color. 6.10 Print Graph This function enables you to print the graph directly to your printer to print. You can click on the [ ] icon at the Top Tool Bar to activate it. 6.11 Save Chart This function enables you to save the existing chart as default chart, you can simply click on the [ ] to do so. 18
8.12 Launch New Chart You can open a new chart by clicking on the [ launched in new window. ] icon at the Top Tool Bar. A new chart will be 19
7. Price Alert Press [ ] icon to show the Price Alert function (a) Price Alert provides various parameter settings to keep track of the market movements from Above/Below to the Bid (<=)/Ask (>=) of the price, helping to meet your personal preferences. (b) How to use: Check the desired contract, enter values into the input boxes of Above/Below, Bid (<=)/Ask(>=) to set the alerts. Alert Tips: Above trigger an alert if the price goes up above this value Below trigger an alert if the price falls down below this value Bid (<=) trigger an alert if the bid price falls below or equals the input of the value Ask (>=) trigger an alert if the ask price goes up or equals the input of the value 8. Language Selection Clicking the Eng, 繁 and 簡 Button on the right navigation bar until suitable language version display (English, Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese) 20
9. Launch Full Version You can launch the full version of Futures Quotation Services by clicking on [ ] icon. 10. FAQ Q.1) Login Error: It displays an error message of "Please enable cookies of your browser". Ans: This is because the function of cookies is not allowed on your system. You can follow these steps to enable the cookies function. 21
Step 1: Reach Internet Option in Internet Explorer. Step 2: Please go to Privacy section. 22
Step 3: Press the "Advanced" button. Step 4: Choose "Accept" in the fields of Cookies. Step 5: Click OK to confirm the changes of the settings. 23
Q2.) The Browser displays in gray color after login Ans: For computers behind a firewall or proxy server, TCP/UDP outgoing ports 8044 and 443 must be open, given that the user's computer can make socket connection to our servers via the proxy server. Q3.) Old version Internet Explorer problem Ans: Real Time Futures Quotes Service will not be working in the Internet Explorer which using IE9 or older version. Please upgrade to the latest version of browser and then try to open again. Remark: Please note that Window XP and Windows Vista are not allowed to upgrade to Internet Explorer 10 or above version. You are suggested to user Google Chrome or Firefox to open. 24
