FTTH Cables

Fibre To The Home New. concept very simple cables A new series of optical cables especially designed for last mile network cabling. Considering the increasing development of broadband services, this type of cable will be one of the most rapidly developing sectors in the next few years. They provide a simple solution for different installation systems, including using compressed air to blow into pre-installed tubes. These cables are designed to be used inside buildings to connect individual flats.the cables runs vertically from the bottom to the top of the building, and one or more of the cables in the bundle can be branched off at any point and connected to the end user. As a next step in our FTTH system solution. Tratos Cavi Spa developed the wiring of single and multi-dwelling family units, with fiber optic cables and connectivity inside the building, from the outside plant cable termination to the customer's interface. We developed a complete indoor fibre solution incorporated in the production range. The deployment of FTTH raises many challenges in these environments since building infrastructures can be very different. In brownfield applications FTTH wiring is very often installed as the third network infrastructure in a building, where twisted pair copper and coax cabling in the past were installed. 15

STOP THIEF! Tratos theft prevention measures for cable With copper worth more than two and half times its cost in 2009, the theft of copper cables has soared alongside the price. Organised gangs - sometimes using stolen BT vans to disguise their actions - are stealing the cable to strip out the copper and sell. In the process they are disabling crucial communications, including the emergency 999 services, railway signalling and even air-traffic control systems. Thieves stealing or damaging railway cables cost Network Rail 3.5m compensation for train operators in the North East and Yorkshire alone in the financial year 2008/9 - up by 1.7m on the previous year. But the cost is not the only problem, as theft or damage to cables could ultimately lead to loss of life. At the very least it results in major inconvenience. Cable manufacturer and supplier Tratos Ltd. has been working with rail and telecoms companies to reduce the incidences of cable theft and has a range of solutions aimed at both deterring thieves and helping police identify stolen cable. Tratos now provides a range of options to make cable theft less profitable for the thief and traceability of the stolen cable easier for the police, with the added bonus of deterring metal merchants from receiving what are effectively stolen goods. 18
