Application Scenarios of DG-NS5004 Cloud Storage Syncbox Feature
To automatically sync & update a specific drive/ data folder on a PC to a NAS:- * Once the syncbox Server is loaded on NAS, it will be displayed under Syncbox tab in the Web GUI of DG-NS5004. * Click on Go to Syncbox tab to load the Syncbox page.
* The following page will be loaded:
* Click on Sign in & login with DG-NS5004 username/ password. (By default username/ password is admin/ admin).
* The following page will be loaded: You first need to register your NAS on syncbox website. Click on DDNS to register the NAS device.
* Once the NAS is registered successfully, it will display the below screen. If required, you can enter the desired name in Personal Domain & click on Modify Domain.
* Click on Admin to create user logins for DG-NS5004 Cloud Storage: NOTE: Since the Syncbox settings are saved on HDD. If you format the HDD s, you need to re-install the Syncbox Server on DG-NS5004 for cloud storage feature.
* Enter the desired username/ password & click on Add User. The created users will be displayed as below: * You can change the password or quota for each user created on syncbox site.
* You can set the quota as desired for each user: * It will display the following screen. Similarly, you can modify the current password of each user if required.
* Download the Syncbox Client for your respective System from the syncbox website as shown below:
In this example we have shown Windows XP system as a Syncbox client. Once the syncbox client is installed, the icon will be created on desktop: Click on the above icon to launch the syncbox client on the system.
* If the Syncbox client is in local network of DG-NS5004, it will automatically display the created users in the drop-down menu as above & the NAS domain will reflect under Server option in Syncbox client.
* Enter the desired password for selected user & click on Next. It will display the screen as below: It takes a default path of the system. If required, you can click on Change folder to select the respective folder to sync the specific system data with NAS. Once the desired Folder is Selected click on Finish to complete the Syncbox Client basic setup.
* Now Click on syncbox client icon in the system tray. * The above options will be available to configure the syncbox client settings.
* Click on Launch Syncbox Website to load the page: * Under Settings tab, you can modify the password of current user.
* You can click on create folder under Files option. Input the folder name & click OK. * It will display the below screen:-
* If you access the specified folder (i.e. E drive in our scenario) on the system, it will show the folder created on syncbox website. * You can add the desired Data/ Contents in the respective folder.
* Once you open the folder 123, it will display the contents in the folder as below: This sign means that file is already synced & this means that file sync is in process. Whatever data is loaded in this folder will be synced on NAS automatically.
* Now if you go to syncbox website, the data will be displayed in 123 folder as below: * You can also load the specific file by clicking on Upload files tab.
Syncbox Scenario 2: To automatically sync the changes done in the exsiting content at specified path on the system with NAS using syncbox feature. Suppose there is an existing word file in E:\Data\folder 123. If we edit that file & save in the same folder, you don t need to click any button to sync the changes made in the word file. It will update & automatically syncs the file on the syncbox website. You can verify from the file size of the existing & current new file.
