Chalkable Classrm Items Adding Items Activities in InfrmatinNOW are referred t as Items in Chalkable Classrm. T insert a new item (activity r lessn plan) t a Grade Bk, chse New Item frm the Menu n the left. Select the Class sectin t which the item is t be added. Nte: If the user had previusly created a new item and left the screen withut discarding r submitting (saving) the item, that wrk will be saved in a draft mde. When New Item is selected, the mst recent item that was being added will display. The user may chse Discard and then, when selecting New Item, the user will be asked t select a class. The Add Item screen will display. Enter the infrmatin indicated n the screen sht belw. Class: Select a different class sectin if desired. Term: Displays the current term based n tday s date (ex. Semester 2). Class/Sectin: Displays the name and curse/sectin number fr the currently selected class. Ex. Assignment Tab: Create a graded r nn-graded activity (i.e. extra credit). Supplemental Tab: Create an activity t assign t a subset f students. Supplemental items are cnsidered nn-graded (i.e. practice). Name: Defaults t the next numbered item f the categry. Fr example, if this is the 14th item added in the Hmewrk categry, the name wuld display as Hmewrk14. Select the field t enter a new name fr the item. Ex. Categry: Select the categry frm the drp-list. Categries are created under Settings Setup Select Class Categries. Brief Descriptin: Enter a brief descriptin f the item. Defaults t the last descriptin added but can be mdified. The brief descriptin will display in the hme prtal fr students. Inbx: Select the inbx icn t see the last items that were added fr this class. Select ne t cpy the descriptin t this new item. Imprt: Select t imprt an activity r lessn plan frm anther academic sessin r class. Study Center users can als imprt a lessn plan frm the gallery. Date: Defaults t tday s date. Select the due date f the item. Chalkable Classrm autmatically determines the grading perid fr the item based n the date selected. Fr lessn plans, enter the start/end date range fr the plan. Max Scre: Fr an activity, enter the ttal pints pssible. Advanced Optins: Fr an assignment, select the cg icn t access advanced ptins. Advanced ptins autmatically display fr lessn plans r supplemental activities. Weight Multiplier: Enter the number f times the scre that the student receives fr this item is t cunt in their verall Grade Bk average. Fr example, if the scre fr this item shuld nt cunt in the verall average, enter a 0. If the scre shuld cunt nce in the verall average, enter a 1. If the scre shuld cunt twice in the student s verall average, enter a 2. Weight Additin: Enter the number f pints that are t be added t each student s scre fr this item. Fr example, if each student is t receive an extra 5 pints added t their scre fr this item, enter a 5. Can drp student scre: Defaults t N. Select the circle t change t Yes if the scre fr this item can be drpped frm the student s verall average. Extra Credit: Select if this activity is cnsidered extra credit. Nte: The extra credit ptin will be disabled if the user has entered anything ther than 0 in the Max Scre field. Als, the user must have selected Pints r Categry Pints as the averaging methd under Settings Setup Select Class Optins. Hide Frm Students: Defaults t N. Select the circle t change t Yes if this item is t be hidden frm student view. Class Discussin: Study Center users nly. Select t allw nline class discussin fr this assignment, lessn plan r supplemental activity. Preview Cmments: The teacher must first preview student cmment(s) and mark them as visible in rder fr ther students t see. Require Cmments: A student must first submit a cmment befre they are able t see ther student s cmments. Gallery : Available nly fr study center users when creating a lessn plan. Allws the user t save the lessn plan t a public gallery that is accessible t ther teachers in the district. Add Attribute: Chse t add an attribute t the item such as an bjective. Attach: Chse t add standards, files and mre. Uplad tab: This tab displays by default. Drag/drp a new file t the square t attach a new item such as a dcument t the item r select Chse File t navigate t a file lcatin. Once the file is attached it will display at the bttm f the tab. Select the red X t remve the attachment. Cntinue t drag/drp files r use Chse File t insert mre files. Upladed tab: Previusly referred t as the filing cabinet. Access files that have been attached t items previusly. Hver ver the file t be attached and select Attach t add t the item r chse Duplicate t create a duplicate cpy f the file and add t the item. Standard tab: Open the standard tree and attach curse standards t this item. Only available if standards have been attached t the curse in InfrmatinNOW. Select the item frm the Feed list. Select Feed frm the menu tabs n the left. Select the Name f the item. Chse Edit. Select the item frm the Calendar View. Select Calendar frm the menu tabs n the left. Chse the day t see the items fr the day. Select the Name f the item. Chse Edit. Select the item frm the Grade View. Select Grades frm the menu tabs n the left. Chse the class frm the list at the tp. Frm the Bx view, select the name f the item. Select Edit. Frm the Grid view, select the clumn heading f the item. Select Edit. Once the details f the item are displayed using ne f the three ptins mentined abve the user may edit any f the item details including descriptin, max scre, etc. Nte: When editing a date, users are allwed t select a date that is in a different grading perid. When the date is changed, the scres mve with the item. It is imprtant t keep in mind that, fr example, if scres were entered fr an item that was in grading perid 2 and then reprt card grades were psted and then the date f the activity is changed t a date in grading perid 3, the students psted grade fr grading perid 2 may need t be repsted as their verall average has changed since the item was mved. Users shuld take care when changing dates fr activities that mve the item frm ne grading perid t anther. Save: Save the recrd with the changes made. Delete: Delete this item. Warning! Scres must be remved fr all students fr the item befre it can be deleted. Duplicate: Create a duplicate f this item. Select the class(es) t which the item is t be cpied. Multiple classes may be selected using Ctrl+click. Select Submit. Cpying/Imprting Multiple Activities Users may cpy/imprt multiple activities frm ne class t anther. All Attributes, Shrt and Lng Descriptins, Due Date, Max Scre, Standards, and Advanced Optins will be cpied. Cpying Frm the Feed, select the class where the activities have already been created. The Cpy ptins will display. All Tasks: Place a check in the circle t the left f each item t be cpied r select All tasks. Cpy t: Select the drp dwn and chse the class t which the activities are t be cpied. Date: If left blank, the first date f the grading perid will be used. Users may als select a different starting date t be assigned t items. When the activities are cpied, a new start date will be assigned based n the selected start date and based n dates that are marked as instructinal. Dates in which the sectin meets are als cnsidered. Fr example, if a user cpies activities dated 10/1, 10/4, 10/10 using a starting date f 2/2, the due dates fr the cpied activities will be 2/2, 2/5, 2/11, assuming all dates are instructinal and dates are valid fr the term that the sectin meets. Select Cpy r Cancel. Nte: Fr Study Center users, apps will nt be cpied with the activities currently. Imprting Users may imprt activities frm a different academic sessin/class. All Attributes, Shrt and Lng Descriptins, Due Date, Max Scre, Standards, and Advanced Optins fr the selected activities will be cpied. Select New Item and select a class t which the activities are t be cpied. Select the Assignment tab r the Lessn Plan tab. Activities and lessn plans can be imprted frm either tab. Imprting Frm Assignment Tab After selecting a class, frm the Assignment tab chse Imprt. Select the academic sessin and class frm which t imprt. Place a check next t the activities r lessn plans t be imprted. In the Start Date field, enter the starting date t be used when imprting the activities/lessn plans. The prgram will assign dates t each activity based n days that are marked as instructinal. Fr example, existing activities are dated Mnday thrugh Friday with the dates f 4/5, 4/6, 4/7, 4/8, 4/9. They are cpied with a starting date f 5/4, which is a Wednesday. The cpied activities will be assigned dates f 5/4, 5/5, 5/6, 5/9, 5/10. Since 5/7 and 5/8 are weekend dates, they will be skipped. Select Imprt. A message will display that will allw the user t view imprted items in the Feed. Select the message. The imprted items will display with a green bx. Imprting Frm Lessn Plan Tab After selecting a class, frm the Lessn Plan tab, chse Imprt. Frm Gallery Study Center Users Only Study center users may select t imprt frm the Gallery. Newest Upladed: Chse t rder the list belw by Newest Upladed r Oldest Upladed. Search: Enter criteria t search fr a specific lessn plan. Hver ver the lessn plan t be imprted and select Open.
