Store and Report Waters Empower Data with OpenLAB ECM and OpenLAB ECM Intelligent Reporter Matthias Rupp Solution Architect Laboratory Informatics 1
OpenLAB ECM - Content Management Capabilities Centrally Store and Protect All Laboratory Data Manage and organize ALL electronic content regardless of source Analytical Data Chromatography results Photographs and images PDF files and forms Scanned paper files Email Microsoft Office files Electronic reports ANY electronic content
Minimize Impact to Existing Workflow Automated Content Transfer Automate file upload Scheduler monitors computers, drives, folders for files that meet user defined upload criteria Upload tasks can run at user defined schedules typical task cycles range from hourly to daily/weekly Automatic Version creation for subsequent uploads of changed data Specialized interfaces for analytical applications that generate groups of files or directory structure Empower is database based, so does not produce discrete sample files or directory structure therefore requires a not only a specialized interface, but a specialized data retrieval and upload strategy. Group/Presentation Title Agilent Restricted Month ##, 200X
Specialized Interface Automate the archival of Empower data to ECM Define Data to Upload at the Project, Sample Set, or Result Set level Map Empower Project Hierarchy to ECM Data Hierarchy Optionally generate XML for viewing and/or reporting Review archived data without restoring to the Empower database Report on Empower data stored in ECM with Intelligent Reporter Report on Empower data together with other CDS data
Specialized Interface Empower generates data objects in a database rather than files. To transfer this data into ECM a specialized interface is required. This scheduler interface runs on an Empower client and: Automates the archival of Empower data to ECM using the native Archive tool of the Empower Software Retrieves all relevant Results and MetaData from the selected Empower Sample/Result Set and generates XML output for viewing and/or reporting using the existing Empower Client API
Supported Versions The following Versions of the OpenLAB Components and Empower are supported Supports both Empower 2 and Empower 3 Supported on ECM 3.4.1 SP2 Reporting supported on OLIR A.01.03 SP 2 or later (optional Component)
Automated Empower Data Archive OpenLAB ECM includes specialized support for Empower data! Empower users can schedule regular, automated transfer of data into OpenLAB ECM. The data from Empower is written to an XML format for viewing and reporting directly from OpenLAB ECM and packaged with the standard Empower archive file into a ZIP compatible File (SSIZIP)
Upload Data from All Projects The Look In browse button launches a dialog in which you: Log into Empower Select All Projects to upload data from: All projects or Select specific projects to EXCLUDE
Filter the List of Projects to Archive The task can focus on specific, existing projects filtered by: Creation date Naming convention Locked state For example, filter projects : created 4 weeks ago, whose name begins with b- And, are locked Then select the projects to upload.
Define Criteria for Current and Future Projects Select By Criteria to define upload schedules for existing projects and projects not yet created. Each time the task runs, it searches for any project that meets the specified criteria whether it existed when the task was defined, or was created later.
Further Define the Data to be Archived Once the Projects to be archived have been defined, specify how the data is to be moved to ECM. Data can be moved as: A project A sample set A result set The data can be further defined with an Empower query. Processing and instrument method information can be archived.
Technology Neutral Data Representations Long Term Data Archive When the Empower data is archived to OpenLAB ECM, an Oracle backup file is generated using the Empower Tool Kit. The user can additionally choose to have XML representations of the data generated for viewing and reporting without restoring the data to the Empower database.
Automatically Organize Empower Data Duplicate Empower Hierarchy in ECM Within Empower, data is organized in a project hierarchy. This organizational structure can be preserved as the data is archived into ECM. A nested projects hierarchy can be prefixed to the archive file name: An Empower hierarchy like this: Project 1 StudyA Stability 3 Is translated to this in ECM: Project StudyA\Stability 3 Archive FileName.Empower.SSIZIP
Automatically Organize Empower Data Duplicate Empower Hierarchy in ECM The Empower project hierarchy can be translated into ECM hierarchy. With the Map to Empower Hierarchy option: Select the Empower hierarchical level to map to a corresponding ECM level: Project 1 Sub Project A Sub Project B Location Cabinet Drawer Sub Project C Folder
Empower Archives maintained by ECM ECM saves each Empower Archive in an Archive Container (SSIZIP) which also includes the XML output Files Every Archive will be automatically indexed for easy Search and Retrieval using the ECM Metadata Extraction Services
Empower Archives maintained by ECM ECM Searches allow easy Retrieval of Archives and associated XML Output to users desktop
More Efficient Data Retrieval and Review Keeping Archived Data Useful without a Restore Empower data archived in OpenLAB ECM can be viewed without restoring to the Empower database. OpenLAB s TNF (technology neutral file) viewer is capable of displaying an XML representation of the data. The data graph can be zoomed, annotated, colors defined. Data from within the same archive file can be overlaid. The data can not be further processed or reanalyzed in this format, but can be restored to Empower should that need exist. While 3-D data can be archived, only 2-D data graphs can be viewed.
Report on Empower Data in OpenLAB ECM Keeping Archived Data Useful without a Restore When Empower data is archived in ECM with the Generate files for OpenLAB ECM Intelligent Reporter check box selected, reports can be generated using the OpenLAB ECM Intelligent Reporter. Report on: Injections Sample sets Result Sets Projects Data from multiple chromatography systems Include Sample information Peak results Chromatograms Spectra (DAD) Calibration curves
Generating an OLIR Report for Empower Data Search for Data The first step to generating an Intelligent Report is to query OpenLAB ECM for the data to be reported against. Any of the report items are available in this query: Instrument information Method information Sample information Results information
Generating an OLIR Report for Empower Data Select the Data Select one or more injections, or sample sets. The data from the selected items is included in the report.
Generating an OLIR Report for Empower Data Select the Report Template Select the report template, and data selected is rendered into the appropriate fields on the template. Include sample information, peak results, chromatograms, spectra, calibration curves Add statistical and custom calculations, conditional formatting,
Report on Data From Multiple Data Systems ChemStation Data & Empower Data One Report With the Empower data normalized to a consistent set of reportable data it is possible to generate a single report from data that was generated by different chromatography data systems. A single query returns an Empower sample set and a ChemStation sequence
Report on Data From Multiple Data Systems ChemStation & Empower Data One Report The resulting report contains data from both data systems.
How can OpenLAB ECM Help? Efficiency, Productivity, Cost Savings Scientists can make better decisions faster - Access ALL lab data from a single interface - Maintain data availability even after archive - Generate reports from archived data Scientists spend more time working less managing data - Automated data archival from Empower and Chromeleon into ECM - Review data after archive without restoring Reduce training costs - No disruption to existing workflow to move data into ECM Reduce administration costs - Centralized data management and security for ALL data in one system
