Post Producer Software Version 6.3 Release Notes About This Release The Vantage 6.3 release includes some updates to Post Producer. Installation in a Vantage Environment Updated Post Producer components are automatically installed as part of a Vantage 6.3 installation. Note: If your maintenance has expired and you upgrade your Vantage system, it will not function after the upgrade. Vantage 6.3 requires you to obtain a new license from Telestream if your maintenance expiration date is August 15th, 2014 or earlier. Your maintenance expiration date can be found in the Licenses section of the Vantage Management Console, or you can contact license@telestream.net to verify that your maintenance is current and to obtain the new license.! NOTE: Please test before upgrading your production environment It is always advisable to run a separate copy of this new build, staging your production workflow in a test environment, before updating your Vantage production server. Telestream can provide you with a limited license in order to configure and qualify this new release in a test environment prior to upgrading your production server. For assistance email Telestream Support support@telestream.net or call our technical support team at 877-257-6245 (North America), +1-530-470-2036 (Europe, Africa and the Middle East) or +1 530-470-1300 (International). New Features in this Release Final Cut Pro 7 XML Composer The Post Producer Compose Action now includes an FCP XML Composer, which is designed to import an NLE FCP-XML (using FCP-7 XMEML format) from Final Cut Pro 7 or Adobe Premiere CC that will include user-added replacement content variables. This FCP-XML file will be converted, by the Compose Action, into a CML playlist file, and then parsed by the Post Producer Conform Action to create variants of finished content, ready for air, or for further Vantage processing. QuickTime Reference Composer The Post Producer Compose Action now includes a QuickTime Reference Composer, which is designed to split mixed essence QuickTime reference files into a playlist, where each segment in the playlist handles the part of the movie with a contiguous essence type.

Avid Flat (Simplified) AAF Composer The Post Producer Compose Action now includes a Simple AAF Composer, which takes advantage of Avid Media Composer s Link To Effects Mixdown export setting allowing for the mix down of both audio and video effects so that the exported AAF references only master clips. This flat AAF file is converted by the Compose Action into a CML playlist file, which is then parsed by the Post Producer Conform Action. Canoe Dynamic Ad Insertion CSV Generation The Post Producer Chronicle Action now includes the Canoe CSV Composer for creating Canoe Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI) compliant packages, supporting MPEG2-based transport streams. Colocate Action This is a new Action for Post Producer designed to localize copies of files that are referenced in a CML playlist and not located on the locally accessible network, such as the case with files on a cloud server like Amazon S3 and other remote locations. Trigger Composer The Post Producer Compose Action now includes a Trigger Composer which detects SCTE 104 triggers in an MXF 436M track and creates CML that forces an I frame to be created, and also adds black frames as necessary to maintain the GOP length in a Cablelabs-compliant transport stream. DNxHD Conform The Post Producer Conform Action now includes direct conform of DNxHD, for limited Avid resolutions, that significantly reduces storage and bandwidth requirements while providing mastering-quality HD media. For more information on the DNxHD format see the following link: http://www.avid.com/static/resources/us/documents/dnxhd.pdf CML Submit Portal - Post Producer now includes a CML Portal, which is a Vantage Portal that allows for creating a drag-and-drop playlist of various framerate/framesize clips to be assembled, and variable and metadata entered, and upon submission to a Post Producer workflow, generate a CML playlist that is conformed into a single file. Fixed in this Release Captions GIR-8058 Fixed an issue where direct conforms of MPEG files failed to propagate the closed captions at 59.94 fps. GIR-8491 Fixed an issue in which direct conforms of X.264 sources caused the closed captioning to be garbled. GIR-8976 and GIR-9059 Fixed an issue where captions were not present when sources with non-zero time codes were present.

CML GIR-8433 Fixed an issue where a TIFO was not properly written from a CML that was composed from an EDL. GIR-8455 Fixed an issue where incorrect in and out points were interpreted from a CML source file resulting in discontinuity between two or more clips in a playlist. GIR-8711 Fixed an issue where a fade command in a CML file would cause the Conform Action to fail when processing in multicore mode. GIR-8818 Fixed an issue where a crossfade command in a CML file would result in a conformed output in which a frame of video from the underlying layer would be rendered at the end of the fade. GIR-8847 and GIR-9132 Fixed an issue where spaces in title text strings would be deleted when they were contained within a variable. Spaces are now preserved within title strings when used in variable enclosures. GIR-9004 Fixed an issue where a TSEDL Composer would create invalid CML when the default setting Mark Elements was used to create edits. GIR-9089 Fixed an issue where the incorrect opacity level would be set when used in the body of a CML file, as in <Body> <Translation x="50%" y="50%" /> <Opacity level="20%" /> </Body> GIR-9090 Fixed an issue where the setting for center in the string <Rotation z="0 " center="center" /> for an image overlay would result in the image spiraling off the frame. GIR-9100 Fixed an issue where dates with slashes, like 8/01/2014 used in variables, would be treated as a math operation rather than as a date. Specifically, it is now possible to add an extra $ char to a variable or a nickname, e.g. {$$variable} or {$#nickname} to treat the contents to ignore any spaces or operators and treat the value of the variable as a string. GIR-9317 Fixed an issue where a hold command, as in <Video source="2" layer="2" fill="hold" align="head" adjust="edge"> would cause a job to hang when no out point is specified within the tail segment. GIR-9539 Fixed an issue where using align= tail and adjust= edge for a video overlay, would cause the Conform Action to fail. GIR-9964 Fixed an issue where using pixel values for the scaling of video overlays, as in <Scaling x="120px" y="81px"/> would result in the overlay not being scaled properly.

Compose GIR-9400 Fixed an issue where Vantage Workflow Designer would crash when clicking add new item in pre-roll clips in the Post Producer Compose Action. Conform GIR-7613 Fixed an issue where the Conform Action would fail and cause a memory leak when AN2 file lists exceeding twelve items were used. GIR-8171 Fixed an issue where when the CGMS-A, Content Advisory, and AFD filters were used in combination with XDCAM HD resulted in an output that did not contain AFD, CGMS-A, or Content Advisory. GIR-8184 Fixed an issue where direct convert of XDCAM HD / MXF sources were not working. GIR-8573 Fixed an issue where the output from a direct convert, using Episode H264/X264 sources created an output that contained green frames. GIR-8836 Fixed an issue where the Conform Action would fail when using a content advisory reason D in a USTV advisory block, from within a CML file. GIR-8882 Fixed an issue where the Conform Action would fail with an audio error when attempting to decode an MPEG2-TS source file with AC3 audio. GIR-8887 Fixed an issue where a Conform Action would fail when attempting to ingest X265-TS sources generated by the IPTV transcoder. GIR-8993 Fixed an issue where captions were inadvertently being stripped from transport stream file by the Conform Action. GIR-9136 Fixed a Conform issue where drop-frame source timecode was being incorrectly identified as non-drop-frame. GIR-9207 Fixed an issue where the Conform Action would fail with the error failed to complete ConvertMetadata procedure because of an unspecified error when transcoding MOV source files that contained a tail edit. GIR-9241 Fixed an issue where the Conform Action would fail when attempting to process MXF OP1a JPEG2000 sources. GIR-9288 Fixed an issue where the Conform Action would fail when more than 8 channels of audio were selected.

GIR-9403 Fixed an issue where the Conform Action would fail (sit in the pre-index stage for 10+ minutes) when processing audio sources using the route / mix settings. GIR-9735 Fixed an issue in which the Conform Action was creating output with video frames out of order. Graphics / Image Handling GIR-8650 Fixed an issue where PhotoShop PSD files, when used as an image overlay, would cause the Conform Action to fail. GIR-9165 Fixed an issue where Targa TGA image overlays were not rendered properly, resulting in image distortion. GIR-9371 Fixed an issue with Alpha Channels in Targa TGA files not being preserved in conformed outputs. GIR-9537 Fixed an issue where image files inserted as lower-thirds would instead display a black bar across the bottom third of the screen, when Post Producer was used on a K20 Lightspeed server. Misc GIR-7406 Fixed an A/V sync issue with certain XDCAM HD 422 MXF output video files. GIR-7575 Fixed an issue in which variable strings were ignored when two variables were used within the same text overlay. GIR-7647 Fixed an issue where GXF time code was not interpreted properly, thereby creating files with a 0 (zero) seconds duration output. GIR-7871 Fixed an issue where Post Producer would fail upon ingesting an MPEG4 / AVI file. GIR-8307 Fixed an issue where excessive black would be added to a content advisory image overlay. GIR-8393 Fixed an issue where MPAA, CFLR, and CELR content advisories were not working. GIR-8540 Fixed an issue where green video was produced by the Conform transcode when using QuickTime H.264 source files. GIR-8570 Added a warning in the user interface for the Conform Action if a transcoder is added, but not used in the output.

GIR-9093 Fixed an issue in which an A/V sync problem occurred when overlay sources of different frame rates were used in a Conform job. GIR-9101 Fixed an issue where video and audio overlays would be truncated early (clipped) by approximately 0.5 seconds in a Conformed output. GIR-9248 Added a user interface control to the Conform Action to allow a user to enable dithering. GIR-9249 Fixed an issue in which the USTV TV-Y7 FV advisory overlay was not displaying the descriptor properly. Performance GIR-8400 Fixed an issue where a Conform job to an HD MPEG output was running slower than real time on a Lightspeed server. GIR-8941 Fixed an issue where some Conform jobs using LXF source material were running more than 3 times slower than real time. Text GIR-9659 Fixed an issue where text produced by Post Producer had improperly anti-aliased edges, when conformed onto a white background with images that used pre-multiplied alpha. Beta Misc Note: The following are fixes in the release version of 6.3, based upon customer beta testing prior to release. GIR-7491 Fixed an issue where a Conform job using DNxHD material with audio that has a multipart edit list in a QuickTime container would complete with a 0 (zero) duration output. GIR-8375 Fixed an issue where CML created from a simple AAF file would cause the Conform job to hang when the output frame rate was set to anything other than 29.970 / 59.94 fps. GIR-8521 Fixed an issue where Conform jobs using simple AAF referenced sources were not direct converting, even though the check box to do so was checked. GIR-8865 Fixed an issue where a Conform job using simple AAF sources did not properly propagate time codes.

GIR-9167 Fixed an issue where Amazon S3 file transfers using the Colocate Action would deliver incomplete files, but show successful termination in Vantage. GIR-9910 Fixed an issue where local path replacement for Colocate did not work with substitutions Beta DAI (Dynamic Advertising Insertion) Note: The following are fixes in the release version of 6.3, based upon customer beta testing prior to release. GIR-8440 Fixed an issue in which a Conform job would hang at 100% when transcoding a source file from the EDL composer. GIR-8456 Fixed an issue where an I-Frame was not inserted before an ad spot when using the EDL composer. GIR-8478 Fixed an issue in which captions would not be encoded to the VOD output. GIR-8485 Fixed an issue where a reference CSV file that contained non-zero-based time code would result in a Chronicle-produced CSV file that contained zero-based time code. GIR-8494 Fixed an issue in which key frame splice points in Chronicle did not align with NPT times reported in VideoRedo. GIR-8508 Fixed an issue in which key frame splice points in Chronicle would not align with the beginning of ad spots. GIR-8576 Fixed an issue where closed captions processing was rendering captions out of sync with the video. GIR-9639 Fixed an issue where I-Frames were not being properly inserted into a stream according to the Chronicle Actions as run instructions. GIR-10159 Fixed an issue where detection of SCTE 104 triggers and black-frame insertion was inaccurate. Notes and Known Issue for this Release GIR-9140 Known issue Conformed output from an X265 transport stream source exhibits out of order frames. GIR-9784 Known issue Conform output at 23.976 may contain garbled closed captioning data.

GIR-9799 Known issue The content advisory for USTV Unrated may cause the Conform Action to fail with Cannot find graphic for content advisory. The expected result for a null or unrated USTV rating would be for Post Producer to not attempt to apply overlay, and to not fail. GIR-9835 Known issue A PitchBlue source used to create an MPEG4 wrapped MPEG2 file with PCM audio will cause the Conform Action to fail. GIR-9874 Known issue Occasional failure in Compose when attempting to process a Premiere FCP7- XML file that is stored on an OS X share. GIR-10048 Known issue Final Cut Pro 7 XML Composer fails to process sequences with slugs - Final Cut Pro 7 offers a "slug" as a filler audio and video track, similar to Avid filler. A sequence that contains this type of clip will fail in the Final Cut XML composer with an error "Invalid Source." GIR-10109 - Known issue QuickTime Reference Files are not supported on Mac disk volumes by Post Producer. To process these files, all of the media should be moved to a Windows volume prior to processing. GIR-10142 Known issue Conformed outputs of mixed data rate Avid QuickTime movie files may have a white frame at the end of the clip. GIR-10160 Known issue When a subtitle block is used with a source that contains non-supported frame rates, the Conform job may fail and indicate a closed captioning error. GIR-10202 Known issue When downscaling HD overlays to SD, either the position or the aspect ratio can be preserved, but not both. GIR-10215 Known issue It is necessary to include the file extension for image files when using Post Producer variables, as in the Premier FCP7-XML workflow. For example, if a PhotoShop file is used with a replacement content variable, the variable would be written as {$$Off_Air_Graphic}.psd GIR-10222 and GIR-10372 Known issue Some layout data for image overlays are not applied correctly to CML files generated from FCP7 - Final Cut Pro XML. GIR-10271 Known issue - A QuickTime reference file, when used in combination with the QuickTime reference composer, and with a Conform Action, using direct convert will result in a timecode track that is unusable. GIR-10302 Known issue Addition and subtraction with timecode is causing the Conform Action to fail. GIR-10314 Audio only outputs are not currently supported in Post Producer Conform. GIR-10339 Clarification of when to use adjust= body as opposed to adjust= edge in CML, as in <Image align="head" adjust="edge" fill="loop" layer="1" location="source.png" duration="00:00:01.000" frames="1" layout="none" >

When you adjust an item, you indicate whether you want to extend the duration of the body, or of the edge. When you adjust the body, the head and tail duration remain fixed. When you adjust the edge, the edge that is not anchored is the one that is extended. GIR-10332 The uncompressed, JPEG2000 transcoder in Conform does not pass AFD, content advisory or CGMSA metadata. GIR-10342 For some IPTV workflows that write two output files using the Conform Action, the second file may get a Conform nickname rather than the expected base name. GIR-10358 - Making a long output with an MPEG-2 source may cause the Conform job to hang. GIR-10377 - Image corruption may occur when Direct Convert is enabled for an x264 Conform workflow with x264 source. GIR-10378 - Conform.exe memory usage when conforming from MPEG source is high compared other sources and may increase with further usage GIR-10394 - Conforms made DNxHD 444 in.mp4/.tifo containers causes IPTV/Conform/MS output to have green frames when re-flipped. GIR-10401 - Embedded Closed Captions (CC) not working with DNxHD 100 720p in Conform jobs. It does work with a QuickTime container and CC tracks. GIR-10409 - In a workflow that Conforms to a TIFO wrapper, a downstream IPTV action may produce black video. This issue has been observed on some non-lightspeed hardware.
