Downloading between a Milnor Machine and a Laptop In order to do this, you will need software on the PC and a download cable that can be purchased from Milnor. There are two options for the download cable. If your PC still has a serial port, you can purchase KXMDSWBRS1. It has a serial port on one end connected through a 232 to 485 data converter, to a round 9 pin plug to connect to the Milnor machine. The other option is KXMDSWBRS3 for those who do not have a serial plug on their PC. It has a USB 485 data converter straight to a round 9 pin plug to connect to the Milnor machine. Data Cable KXMDSWBRS3 This document is based on the KXMDSWBRS3 cable with a Mark VI Washer Extractor. This cable has been tested with EP EXPRESS, Mark V and Mark VI washer extractors, and with a Single Stage Press. All have worked reliably. In each case you will need software called a Milnor Machine Programmer loaded on your laptop in order to do this task. The software is specific to the machine controller. Make sure you contact Milnor Technical Support with the machine model you are trying to back up along with the software version that is running on that machine. The software can be found by reading the white label sticker attached to a EPROM chip that is plugged into a socket on the processor board. You can also view the machine software date code by entering Manual Menu and View Software Date Code. Lastly, you can view the machine software while the machine is booting up when first energized. While the presentation is based on Mark VI Washer Extractor, you should be able to use this for an EP Express, an EP Plus, Single Stage Press, or Centrifugal Extractor without difficulty. 1) Ensure the Milnor Machine Programmer software is loaded on your PC. 2) You will have to load the driver for the USB Nano 485 converter. The driver can be found on the CD that came with the cable assembly. An updated driver can be found on the Internet at www.cti-shop.com. The device is USB-Nano-485/OP. The pathway is http://www.cti-shop.com/epages/15488632.sf/en_gb/?objectpath=/shops/15488632/categories/treiber/treiber_fuer_windows_8 Follow the directions on when to plug in the USB Nano 485 Converter. 3) Check the COM Port that Windows has assigned to the USB Nano 485 Converter. Pictures are taken from my PC, which is running Windows 7. Your PC and operating system may be slightly different, but similar. Select Control Panel.
My Mouse is selecting Device Manager Expand the tree by clicking the + sign next to Ports. Here my PC has assigned the USB Serial Port to COM2. Make note of this. Milnor Machine Programmer likes the Com Port to be 1, 2, 3, or 4. If the assigned Com Port is other than 1, 2, 3, or 4, you will have to reassign the Com Port. Contact Milnor Service Department on how to do this if you do not already know.
