Theatrical Screening Format Options for TIFF Bell Lightbo Introduction This document outlines the wide range of ehibition formats that we can support in our cinemas. By clarifying the terminology and concerns associated with certain types of content, we strive to ensure that your screening eperience is presented flawlessly and to the highest standards possible. ALL CONTENT MUST BE RECEIVED 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF SCREENING/REHEARSAL/TECH CHECK or a late payment charge will be applied to the final invoice Film Tape Digital Cinema (DCP) Video Cinema 1 16mm 35mm 70mm Betacam SP Digital Betacam HDCAM HDCAM- SR HDV Dvcam MiniDV 2K 4K 3D HFR Video File* "Quicktime" BluRay** Cinema 2 Cinema 3 Cinema 4 Cinema 5 Cinema 6 Atrium Wall Formats denoted in yellow are included for completeness. Content should ideally only be delivered in these tape formats if it already eists in this format and an HD version does not eist in another form. *Video Files - Quicktime : With the increasing number of file-based submissions, it should be noted that we can accept a wide-variety of file-types, but in order for them to play back properly in cinema, we suggest supplying one of the following video codecs: XDCAM HD 422 (.mov wrapper) Avid DNHD (.mov wrapper) Apple ProRes 422 H.264, minimum bit rate 9 mbps. (.mov or.mp4 wrapper)

If your workflow does not currently use any of these file types, please contact tps@tiff.net with the technical particulars of the file format that your content currently eists in to determine suitability. All videos should also meet the following specifications for playback: Resolution of 19201080. If your content is standard definition as a result of being archival, it would be best to deliver in its eisting resolution rather than transcoding to satisfy HD requirement Audio channel arrangement of either: 2-Channel (Stereo or LtRt). Please note for this audio configuration, we will be decoding it for playback with Dolby ProLogic yielding a 6-channel playout. 6-Channel (5.1 Mi). Please note for this audio configuration track layout should be Left, Right, Centre, Sub, Left Surround, Right Surround Rec. 709 colourspace, gamma 2.2 NOTE: All Video files are ingested to a Broadcast server versus being played from a computer to enhance quality of image and reliability of playout. All provided video files will be transcoded to a common codec at 29.97 fps. **BluRay Because BluRay is a consumer-based format, we encode the disk to our server for reliable playback. This means that we do not directly play any optical-based media in-cinema due to the inherent unreliability. Delivery of File-Based Content If your content is larger than 4 GB in size, we require that the file is delivered on a physical hard-drive (as opposed to an online file service) When sending us your content, please ensure that all content is properly packaged and labeled with your event name, date and the file name or film title on the outer packaging (e.g. BOOKS ON FILM-MARCH 5 TH LIFE-OF-PI) Content on the drive should also be clearly sorted and labeled. Please create a directory that clearly indicates that the contents are for us to load and process. If this is not clear, it is very difficult for us to discern what file is intended for playback In order to ensure that there are no issues with the content for file based delivery, processing and ultimate playback of the files, it is imperative that we receive your content at least four business days in advance of your screening If you are providing multiple files for playback, please clearly indicate the desired playback order Do NOT send placeholder content; i.e. do not send us unfinished or unapproved content to satisfy a delivery deadline if you are intending on sending us a replacement at a later date

Presentations We accept Powerpoint, Keynote and Prezi presentations (Prezi Presentations require a dedicated network line for proper playback, unless the Prezi is off-line this is to ensure proper performance). To ensure reliable and predictable playback of any presentation, we strongly recommend that presenters use a TIFF supplied PC or Apple Macbook for their presentation. Due to the distance and the connectivity type required for a Digital Cinema Projector, certain laptops may have issues when trying to connect. In order to avoid any issues, utilizing a TIFF laptop will ensure that there are no connectivity issues. If you would prefer to use your own laptop for a presentation, please note the following: We do NOT support VGA connectivity in cinema We require that you bring the laptop a minimum of 1 hour prior to the start of the event to ensure proper connectivity. We support only digital connections for in-cinema (e.g. HDMI, DVI, Thunderbolt, Displayport) We suggest that you provide the presentation (and any specific fonts required) on a USB drive as backup to play off of our laptops as a backup Presentation Guidelines Presentations should be formatted in a 169 aspect ratio Setting Aspect Ratio in PowerPoint: http://www.techf5.com/2756/modify-aspect-ratio-powerpoint-slideshow/ For Keynote: Go to File >> New. This brings up the Theme Chooser. From here you ll notice your resolution settings in the lower right-hand corner. If you choose 1280720 or 19201080, it will be safe for a 169 aspect ratio. Full HD (19201080) is the recommended resolutions for the presentation and any video clips embedded. Please note that due to the size of our screens at TBLB, any low-resolution content (below 19201080) will look soft or out of focus. Fonts should be embedded in PowerPoint to ensure proper portability PowerPoint Instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/826832 For Keynote presentations, please ensure that all fonts are available for us to install on our laptop if need be Video and Audio clips should be embedded in the presentations Embed Video in Powerpoint: https://support.office.com/en-in/article/insert-video-into-your-presentation-7d9d3db6-23a7-46ec-9e22-3496e42996db

Music, Signage and Preshow Content Music can be delivered to us as an audio CD, mp3,.wav,.aiff or FLAC audio format. It is also possible to bring in an ipod or other portable music device for playout For digital signage displays, or a single holding card (i.e. deadcard) on screen, please deliver a high resolution (19201080) file in.tiff or.jpg format. For signage, an.eps file is preferred in 19201080 resolution For video playout on our digital signage system, content should be delivered as a QuickTime H.264 codec in an.mov wrapper at 19201080 or 1280720 resolution Skype Presentations Tech Skype account: tiffblb Back up: at least 48 hours in advance of screening, please provide to tps@tiff.net: Skype account name of caller Jpg still image of caller (to be used substituted on screen if there is good audio but video is lost) Phone number of caller- to be used as a back up A check list for Skype participants: If you are using a laptop, computer should be plugged into wall power A wired internet connection provides better and more reliable results than wireless- especially true for streaming of live video. Screen savers, automatic log off, display sleep and similar settings should all be disabled. No other application should be running in the background of the Skype session Accessibility Hearing Assist- Available for all content and Live events Hearing Assist is intended for patrons with slight to moderate hearing impairment Hearing Assist is delivered via a wireless receiver that provides user-controlled amplification of audio that is reproduced in the cinema. In the case of multi channel film sound, the dialogue channel is emphasized for clarity Closed Captioning- Available for DCP content with this feature enabled only Closed Captioning is delivered to patrons via Captiview. See: http://www.doremilabs.com/products/cinema-products-2/captiview/ In addition to rendering dialogue as tet, Closed Captioning provides a tet based description of important audio cues

Descriptive Sound- Available for DCP content with this feature enabled only Descriptive Sound is delivered to patrons via a wireless receiver that provides, in addition to the regular audio from the film, a narrative description of important visual cues Note: We can provide wireless receivers with ear buds or a neck loop that is t-coil compatible for customers who use a hearing aid. Intellectual Property and Screening Rights TIFF assumes that for all content that is received by us that you, the user, have secured all required permissions and are solely responsible for the payment of any required performance fees or royalties and that you have the legal right to use all content within the contet of a theatrical screening event in our facility. In the interest of protecting intellectual property, we reserve the right to request documentation to prove that all required rights and permissions have been secured. Technical Assistance If you want further assistance, please write to tps@tiff.net and add your event name and date of event to the subject line of the email
