Getting started with Media Flow Around (MFA) * *Currently available on AT&T Virtual Private Network (AVPN) & AT&T Dedicated Internet (ADI), in domestic US only, exclusive to IP Flexible Reach and not supported on IP Toll-Free Beginning with your service Thank you for your order! Media Flow Around is available for new or existing IP Flexible Reach customers. Soon we will contact you to discuss the technical details of your order. To proceed, you must have IP Flexible Reach with Hub(s) and Branch Office Extension(s) (BOE) on AVPN / ADI and an IP PBX. This allows for the Media (voice) to be delivered directly to the IP Border Element (IPBE) without transitioning through the Hub site.. BOEs with ADI/Internet need to have VPN tunnel to the Hub. During installation you can expect to: Participate in collaborative sessions Work with the AT&T engineer and your vendors to prepare your site and equipment Complete Self Certification process to ensure your CPE is compatible and it complies with the IP Flexible Reach specification and interface agreements. You choose which calls/tns can take advantage of MFA and which call flows must transit the Hub. Note: Examples of call flows that would not use MFA are call recording and conferencing done on premises. These call flows must be taken into account when sizing the Hub. Benefits of MFA Media Flow Around offers the following benefits for you: Reduces bandwidth utilization and Session Border Controller (SBC) resources at the Hub Maintains active branch connections for calls if your hub is lost or experiences congestion Provides optimal delivery of media, reducing chances of degradation due to latency Supports on-net calls to any BVoIP endpoint even in the absence of a common codec at both ends of the call (Example: Transcode from G.711 to G.729) 2 If your company has multiple sites, each site installation will be managed separately, however installation steps may be concurrent
Media Flow Around (MFA) Change Orders Permissible Changes 1. Change MFA capable IP Flexible Reach site from flow-through to flow-around calls 2. Change MFA capable IP Flexible Reach site from flow-around to flow-through calls 3. Add/Remove call preservation (available for AVPN and ADI orders only; including with AVPN data-only secondary) 4. Change existing IP Flexible Reach site into an MFA-capable IP Flexible reach site 5. Add/Remove signaling & media traffic encryption. Available for MFA capable Flexible Reach on ADI only. 6. Change private VPN addresses and/or subnet used for IP Flexible Reach signalling and media traffic (if the IP Flexible Reach AVPN service was configured with that type of addressing when it was first installed) Available for IP Flex AVPN sites only. 3
Rehoming IP Flexible Reach customers to MFA capable infrastructure Will remove BGP-R (voice resiliency) prior to the rehome, and will add back call preservation voice resiliency after the rehome is complete Work with you to validate call flows to verify network transcoding, flow around or flow-through call routing the MFA Test and Turn Up activities (confirm rehome dates/times) Rehoming is a multi-part process: 1) rehome is done and tested, 2) another test session for MFA features. Note: Once rehome and features test and turn up is successfully completed, the MFA rehome is complete Utilize AT&T Self Certification to ensure CPE is compatible and complies with the IP Flexible Reach specification and interface agreements Control how the media will be delivered on a call-by-call basis. You can choose which calls (or TNs) can take advantage of this feature and which call flows must transit the Hub. Examples of call flows that would not use MFA are call recording and conferencing done on premises. These calls flows must be taken into account when sizing the Hub. Allow time for testing the service after the rehome Update the 12.194.x.x IPBE Untrusted IP addressed within your CPE configuration (Session Border Controller (SBC), Customer Edge Router (CER), Access Control Lists (ACLs), Firewall Rules, etc. Ensure technical personnel are available on the date of Test and Turn up in case changes are needed to your phone system during testing 4 Note: Once a customer has gone through the rehoming process, there is not a MACD available to reverse the rehoming back to the previous platform.
Changing MFA capable IP Flexible Reach site from flow-through to flow-around calls the Test and Turn Up activities Work with you to validate call flows For AT&T-managed router, the AT&T Test and Turn up engineer will update the router configuration and perform test calls to prove media traffic is going around Hub sites Ensure technical personnel are available on the date of Test and Turn up in case changes are needed to your phone system during testing Allow time for testing 5
Changing MFA capable IP Flexible Reach site from flow-around to flow-through the Test and Turn Up activities Work with you to validate call flows For AT&T-managed router, the AT&T Test and Turn up engineer will update the router configuration and perform test calls to prove media traffic is going through your Hub sites Ensure technical personnel are available on the date of Test and Turn up in case changes are needed to your phone system during testing Allow time for testing 6
Add call preservation, including AVPN data-only secondary sites* (* available for AVPN and ADI PNT orders only; also including with AVPN data-only secondary) Will process orders to add Call Preservation, linking 2 specific sites (primary and secondary) for voice resiliency. NOTE: Primary site order will complete prior to initiating order for secondary site. the Test and Turn Up activities. NOTE: Testing is not conducted until the secondary site is linked to primary site. Ensure technical personnel are available on the date of Test and Turn up in case changes are needed to your phone system during testing Allow time for testing For AT&T-managed router, the AT&T Test and Turn up engineer will update the router configuration and perform test calls to prove the voice resiliency preserves calls while failing over from primary to secondary site If call preservation is no longer required, orders will be processed to remove the function. NOTE: For remove orders, no testing is performed. NOTE: For IP Flexible Reach on AVPN with customer managed router, your vendor makes the CPD configuration changes whether adding or removing 7
Add/Remove signaling & media traffic encryption* * MFA capable IP Flexible Reach on ADI/ADI-PNT only Will process order to add or remove signaling & media traffic encryption the Test and Turn Up activities. NOTE: enabling of the encryption in AT&T s network must be coordinated for same time as the customer equipment is enabled for encryption, to avoid service disruption For AT&T-managed router, the AT&T Test and Turn up engineer will update the router configuration and perform test calls to prove good service with signaling & media encryption enabled Utilize AT&T Self Certification to ensure CPE is compatible with signaling & media encryption and complies with the IP Flexible Reach specifications and interface agreements Customers requiring encryption support will be instructed to go to the CA (VeriSign) website and download certificate that will be used for handshaking and authenticating. Ensure technical personnel are available on the date of Test and Turn up in case changes are needed to your phone system during testing Customer hub must support ADI transport. Customer Branch Office Extension(s) (BOE must support ADI or open internet. BOEs with ADI/Internet need to have VPN tunnel to the Hub Allow time for testing 8
