Note- before submitting a spam sample, you must create a trouble ticket with MSS/GCSC support. An end-user has received a message which should have been blocked as spam, and you wish to export a copy of the message from the user's email client to provide to support for analysis. Follow the instructions below specific to your email client, such as: Outlook (various versions) Lotus Notes (various versions) Apple Mac Other mail user agents Problem: Some spam hit my inbox which I want to submit for analysis. Unfortunately the message was not quarantined or audited on the Proofpoint server. How can I submit it? Solution: While submissions from quarantine are most useful, we can accept samples which are saved using enduser email applications when necessary. Use these instructions to save and submit a false to MSS/GCSC Support. Please note these instructions refer to the original spam message, so the instructions must be followed by the recipient of the original spam message. Forwarded copies are often unusable regardless of how they are saved. Microsoft Office Outlook 2016/2013/2010 1. Open Microsoft Office Outlook. 2. Select the email message that you want to save. 3. Click the File tab. 4. Click Save As. 5. Browse to the file location where you want save the file. 6. For Field Name, enter a name for the file. 7. From the Save as Type dropdown, select Outlook Message Format (*.msg). The message is saved with an ".msg" file extension

If you have opened the message and it appears in its own window, click the Microsoft Office Button image, and then click Save As. 5. Browse to the file location where you want save the file. 6. 2. Create a new blank document. 3. Drag the saved email message from one the samples above and drop it into the MS Word Document. 4. Email the attach document to att_seg@list.att.com.
