Custom Designed Prefabricated Data Centre Buildings
ecentre TM is a complete, pre-equipped, custom designed modular technical facility to house and power data and communication equipment. A modern prefabricated alternative to traditional structures, ecentre has a project duration typically five times shorter than a brick and mortar facility and unparalleled predictability in terms of time, cost, quality and energy efficiency, all guaranteed by Flexenclosure. Optimised for energy efficiency and low total cost of ownership (TCO), ecentre is specifically designed to be fast to deploy, energy efficient, easy to expand and fully future proof. It has all the benefits of prefabricated modular buildings and none of the limitations of containerised solutions. ecentre s open floor space design allows fully flexible placement of internal walls to create rooms with separate climate and fire zones. This means that an ecentre can be compartmentalised so that a data centre, energy centre, operator facilities, etc., can all have their own specific areas, all within a single ecentre building and all tailored to meet the customer s specific business needs. In this way, ecentre avoids the limitations of the rigid floor plans of containerised data centre solutions. Guaranteed on time ecentre is produced in a controlled factory environment with on-site work reduced to a minimum. Given that it is a factory-built product rather than a construction project, the lead-time is fully predictable and typically five times shorter than that for a traditional brick and mortar building. Once the ecentre modules have reached the customer site, installation and commissioning is fast, typically with up to 165m² deployed per week. Guaranteed quality ecentre is built from seam-welded steel modules backed by a 20 year warranty. By building and testing all our ecentres in a controlled factory environment, we guarantee the highest possible quality and reliability. Our craftsmanship is proven with 20+ years of delivering projects in extremely challenging environments. Guaranteed cost CAPEX and OPEX are minimised through efficient space and energy management. Project cost is predictable with no budget overruns and CAPEX is limited because only the required power capacity, cooling capacity, and floor space is initially deployed, which can then be later expanded as needed. Low OPEX is guaranteed through ecentre s optimised design delivering better cost performance. And our services will help keep your ecentre in shape for continued best in class performance. Guaranteed energy efficiency ecentre is designed with the most efficient cooling and power systems required by each specific facility and its geographical location. Indirect free air cooling provides up to 70% electricity savings with no risk of internal contamination in dusty or humid areas. Flexenclosure calculates and can guarantee a PUE value for every deployment. 2
Prefabricated solutions ecentre is pre-manufactured and tested in a clean factory environment in Sweden. Maximising preparation in the factory minimises total project time and experience shows us that one hour of factory time is worth four hours on site. The same team that builds an ecentre in the factory installs and commissions the ecentre on site. This approach gives continuity to the process and minimises possible on-site glitches. Turnkey ecentre is designed for sites ranging from a 50m 2 building (e.g. disaster recovery centre) to facilities of over 1,000m 2 including multiple hosting areas, separate energy centres and office premises. In addition to site installation and commissioning, we are happy to take on all civil works on site, offering a complete turn-key solution and delivering full customer piece of mind. High tech facilities ecentre is fundamentally different from a brick and mortar data centre in that it is delivered as a modular prefabricated building, with high predictability, minimum work done on site and it can be easily expanded whenever the need occurs. ecentre also has significant benefits over containerised data centres in that ecentre is an open floor space building with flexible placement of internal walls. ecentre is manufactured and transported to site in modules, but the end result is a real building, with all the advantages of a modular facility and none of the disadvantages of traditional brick and mortar structures. Custom design Every ecentre is individually custom designed to meet specific requirements related to the floor space, power loads, security, levels of redundancy, size and number of racks, etc. 3D layouts are produced at an early stage to precisely communicate and agree on the ecentre design. This helps to establish and prioritise detailed customer requirements and strongly contributes to overall project predictability, thus avoiding later delays or unexpected costs. A key element of modular data centre design is expansion planning, including all systems power, cooling, fire fighting, etc. such that a data centre can grow to accommodate a customer s needs over time. 3

I am very proud of what ACS and Flexenclosure have achieved together. Carlos Carvalho CTO Angola Comunicações e Sistemas EMEA 2016 - FINALIST 5
A complete ecentre site Interior Power DCIM Our ecentre modules offer great design flexibility and can be customised for different parts of the data centre by adding insulation, raised floors, lighting, airlocks, emergency lighting and furniture. ecentre includes cable trays and cable management to keep the installation tidy and well organised. Exterior The exterior of any ecentre is fully customisable. It can be left in its original tough corrugated steel form, or clad in any required material to give it the façade of a more traditional building. A sun roof can be included (to reduce the strain on the cooling system) as well as stairs, ramps and any other modifications required. Civil works In full turnkey projects, Flexenclosure can take full responsibility for any civil works needed at the site. Alternatively we can collaborate with the customer s preferred civil works supplier to ensure a first-class project result. In order to minimise total project time, civil works are normally done in parallel with ecentre manufacturing and transport. We customise an energy-efficient and reliable (Tier 1-4) system, from high-voltage grid input to stabilised low-voltage distribution, to provide all equipment with steady power. This also includes the ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch), for switching to backup power from gensets and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) or DC systems. Racks, network and customer equipment The data centre can be prepared for any type of customer equipment, and include pre-installed server/network racks, PDU (Power Distribution Unit) and networks (Cat 6 and fibre). We can also include the installation of customer IT equipment in our clean factory before transport to site. Security ecentre is a highly robust, seamwelded steel building. To further protect the equipment and the facility s personnel, we can install surveillance cameras (CCTV), fire detectors, extinguishing systems and access systems such as card or biometric readers. The ecentre Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system monitors cooling, UPS/DC systems, gensets, power consumption, breakers, access systems, fire fighting systems and other parts of the ecentre which need monitoring for guaranteed performance. DCIM will follow the ecentre custom design to meet specific customer needs and can be expanded to include additional monitoring points. DCIM allows for remote support and monitoring, which enables data centre management to secure both uptime and optimal performance. HVAC We include heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC) systems which ensure an energy-efficient data centre environment that suits both equipment and people. A variety of cooling technologies are supported, including free-air cooling, to provide the most efficient cooling and containment solution for each location and rack power load (0-45kW).
