Make sure you are up to date with all updates, downloads and OS updates. Restart your phone after you downloaded everything. (PAGE 1 of 24) (PAGE 2 of 24)

MOUNTING THE CAMERA PLATE: Prior to this step make sure you have a battery, card and all other accessories attached to the camera that you will be using while operating. Zoom lenses can be problematic. Keep the same focal length if possible. The Cradle will point up toward your lens and will keep from the lens from flexing or moving as much. Attach the dove plate to the bottom of your camera with the tapered ¼ 20 and/or the 3/8 screw. The rod extensions will be pointing forward toward the lens. For additional stability attach the lens support to the front of the camera plate with the black lock in the left of the picture above. Take out the tuning stand and release all 4 parts by pushing in the silver pin, pulling arms away from the vertical Bar of the tuning stand and rotating all 4 parts out. They will click into position. The two arms with hooks will go on the top and the arms without hooks will go on the bottom. (PAGE 3 of 24) (PAGE 4 of 24)

Place the top handle bar on top of the tuning stand in the cradles w/ the handle pointing away from the vertical bar or the tuning stand. Insert the battery into the battery slot on the Ronin and make sure it is seated fully and secure. Lock in place with the ridged locks on battery by tightening them. NOTE: DO NOT TURN THE BATTERY ON AT THIS STEP. Release the camera plate silver lock on the side. Make sure the Red lock under the center handle is not locked too tightly (allowing the Ronin to insert). Attach the Ronin below the handle. Push the brass button down and insert from LEFT to RIGHT. After you have that Ronin in position make sure you lock down the red lock and everything is secure. Do not let go of your camera in the next step until you have it locked down. Insert the camera plate into the base of the Ronin. Move forward and back until you have it roughly balanced where it doesn t tip forward or back. Loosen both ridged locks on the battery. (PAGE 5 of 24) (PAGE 6 of 24)

ADJUSTING ROUGH FRONT & BACK BALANCE: Lock the plate with the silver lock securely. Use step at Troubleshooting Section at the end of the manual if you are having issues locking down the camera plate. If it tips forward it is bottom heavy. While holding the side arm of the Ronin. To To correct unlock the two red locks on either side of the vertical bar and slide camera down. Make adjustments until it is correctly balanced. The camera will point straight upward when you let go. (PAGE 7 of 24) (PAGE 8 of 24)

ADJUSTING THE ROLL AXIS: Look at the camera from the front directly and notice which way it is tilting: Left or Right. Loosen the two front Red Locks under the camera. This will allow the camera to slide left or right. Make adjustments left and right until it is balanced. When you let go it should stay in place. Make sure to lock the red locks to secure the camera in place. If the camera is tilting right, slide the camera base to the left and lock the two red locks down. See if it is balanced. Tilt the camera to the right and let go. It should stay at that position. If the camera is tilting left, slide the camera base to the right and lock the two red locks down. See if it is balanced. Tilt the camera to the left and let go. It should stay at that position. (PAGE 9 of 24) (PAGE 10 of 24)

Then use the silver adjusting levers to move the arm back toward the battery. Keep adjusting until the camera stays in position when tilting the handle back. Make sure you lock in place. Tilt the handle back. Rotate the battery to the right and let go of the battery. If the battery swings down to the opposite side the Ronin is back heavy. Rotate the battery around to the right and tilt the handle back. The battery should stay in place. (PAGE 15 of 24) (PAGE 16 of 24)

TURNING ON AND TESTING: Turn the Ronin on by pressing the button on top of the battery that is attached to the Ronin. Connect the the DJI Assistant application on your phone. It will start a search for the device. Make sure it is on. Select Device. Password: Use the password that is in The Case. The Ronin will rotate to the regular position. Select the Motor icon. Click the Auto Tune Stability. This will find out the setting and motor strenght that your camera setup will require. Depending how well you balanced the Ronin the Pan, Tilt and Roll numbers may differ. Get the Pan, Tilt and Roll as close to 0 as you can by balancing previously. Reballance if needed. This is the regular position where the camera points forward. (PAGE 17 of 24) (PAGE 18 of 24)

TROUBLESHOOTING: If you are having any issues with anything and want to start with fresh settings: The Camera is not pointing forward or centered: If the Ronin s Pan axis is off center, you can recalibrate the true center of the Ronin doing the following. Restore Default Settings. After doing this you will want to recalibrate anything this may wipe out from previous steps like Auto Calibration, Auto Tune Stability, etc. Using a remote control, position the pan axis at dead center, then tap the Calibrate Center. Tap Center again in the pop up to confirm. Power cycle after calibrating center. If the setup is vibrating more than usual: The Ronin is not powering up properly: Make sure the battery is seated properly, locked in place, and is fully charged. Make sure your Bluetooth is on. Make sure you are up to date with all updates, downloads and OS updates. Restart your phone after you downloaded everything. If you notice any kind of drift in any of the axes: You need to calibrate the system, place the Ronin on the tuning stand and make sure it is completely steady. Then tap the Calibrate System button and let the process finish before picking up the Ronin. Make sure the Power for Pan, Tilt and Roll are close to zero. If they not, rebalance the Ronin from previous steps. If the Ronin is ballanced and the numbers for Pan, Tilt and Roll are near zero and you are still getting vibration; you can adjust the Stiffness numbers to a lower number. (PAGE 19 of 24) (PAGE 20 of 24)

TROUBLESHOOTING CONTINUED: The camera plate is not locking properly: USE THE FOLLOWING STEP ONLY IF NEEDED: ONLY IF NEEDED: If you need to adjust the tension on the camera plate lock use the allen wrench labeled: FOR CAMERA PLATE LOCK. Only make small adjustments to allen bolt on side of unit and do not over crank. Keep testing until you get desired tightness. Make sure Camera is secure. After Balancing a camera rig simply tap the Auto Tune Stability button to tune the Ronin for use. It will inteligently adjust parameters based on your camera rig s weight and independly adjust each individual axis until an optimal setting is found. Auto Tune Stability also fine tunes other aspects of the control system making balancing fast and easy. Tune each individual speed to your preferences. SmoothTrack provides movement tranlation based off the Ronin operator s movement. As the Ronin operator pans or tilts the gimbal, the camera orientation will pand and tilt in the direction the gimbal is moved and then ramp down in speed. This pan and tilt movement speed can be independly adjusted using software. Translated movement acceleration can also be fine tuned as well. If the Ronin operator needs to pan or tilt rapidly between two positions and the standard speed isn t sufficient, an accelerated speed can be adjusted without affecting slower movements. Full configuration of the transmitter can be accomplished through the DJi Assistant. Features sucs as control speed, remapping of what the control joysticks do, and also endpoint adjustments can be configured throug Assistant. The Ronin s vital stats can also be viewed on the Assistant app. Key itmes such as motor power, pan tilt roll axis s degrees of movement, electronics temperatur monitoring, as well as remaining battery life.
