Getting the most of your battery life Decrease screen brightness if possible When you re not using the ipad press and release the ON\OFF button to turn off the ipad If you are not using Wi-Fi or the Bluetooth Keyboard you can turn these settings off by going into SETTINGS and tapping the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi on the left hand side and tapping the ON\OFF button Getting to Know your ipad Buttons Gentiva Health Services Page 2.

Buttons A few buttons make it easy to lock ipad and adjust the volume Sleep/Wake button You can lock ipad by putting it to sleep when you are not using it. When you lock ipad, nothing happens if you touch the screen. Note: The ipad auto locks after 2 minutes of inactivity. Lock ipad: Press the Sleep/Wake button Unlock ipad: Press the Home button or the Sleep/Wake button, and then drag the slider Turn ipad off: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then drag the onscreen slider. Turn ipad on: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. If you don t touch the screen for two minutes, the ipad locks automatically. Home Button The Home Button lets you get back to the Home screen at any time. It also provides other convenient shortcuts. Go to the Home screen: Press the Home button. Display recently used apps: When ipad is unlocked, double-click the Home button. The multitasking bar appears at the bottom of the screen, showing the most recently used apps: Swipe the bar to the left to see more apps. Slide Switch Use the side Switch to disable audio alerts and notifications. You can also use it to lock the screen rotation and prevent the ipad display from switching between portrait and landscape mode. Gentiva Health Services Page 3.

Opening and switching between apps To go to the Home screen, press the Home button. To return to the Home screen, press the Home button again. View recently used apps: Double-Click the Home button to reveal the multitasking bar. Tap an app to use it again. Swipe left to see more apps. Adjusting the screen brightness You can manually adjust the brightness of the screen, or turn on Auto-Brightness to have ipad use the built-in ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness. Adjust the screen brightness: Double click the Home button, swipe the multitasking bar from the left to right, then drag the brightness slider. Turn of Auto-Brightness on or off: Go to Settings>Brightness & Wallpaper Gentiva Health Services Page 4.

Pairing Kensington Keyboard Case to the ipad 1. Turn the ipad and the Kensington Keyboard ON. 2. Below is photo of the Apple Home screen. Tap Settings as shown below. 3. It will open the screen below: Tap Bluetooth as shown below. To turn Bluetooth ON, tap OFF as shown below. Gentiva Health Services Page 5.

4. Now with Bluetooth turned ON, This will enable the Kensington Keyboard case to be discovered by the ipad. 5. Press the Connect button on the Kensington Keyboard. The Connect button is located at the top right hand side of the keyboard as shown below. Gentiva Health Services Page 6.

6. The ipad will display a code to be entered in on the keyboard as shown below. 7. Enter the 4 digit code on the Kensington keyboard. Press Enter. The keyboard is now connected to the Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard as shown below. Gentiva Health Services Page 7.

Finger Zoom- Zooming In or Out Depending on the app, you may be able to zoom in to enlarge, or zoom out to reduce the image on the screen. When viewing photos, webpages, mail, or maps for example, pinch two fingers together to zoom out or spread them apart to zoom in. For photos and webpages, you can also double tap (tap twice quickly) to zoom in, then double-tap again to zoom out. For maps, doubletap to zoom in and tap once with two fingers to zoom out. Zoom is also an accessibility feature that lets you magnify the entire screen of any you re using and helps you see what s on the display. Cellular Data versus Wi-Fi Data There are two types of internet connections for your ipad, Cellular and Wi-Fi. Connecting your ipad to Wi-Fi doesn t incur any data charges whereas using Cellular data incur charges to Gentiva. Note: Whenever possible connect to Wi-Fi instead of using cellular data You can also temporarily disable cellular data when it s not needed. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Cellular Data Slide the toggle next to Cellular Data to off. This will disable all cellular data traffic until it s enabled again. Rearranging apps Customize your Home Screen by rearranging apps, moving apps to the dock along the bottom of the screen, and creating additional Home screens. Rearrange apps: Touch and hold any app on the Home screen until it jiggles, then move apps around by dragging them. Press the Home button to save your arrangement. Create a new Home Screen: While arranging apps, drag an app to the right edge of the rightmost screen until a new screen appears. You can create up to 11 Home screens. The dots above the Dock show the number of screens you can have, and which screen you re viewing. Switch between Home screens: Swipe left or right. Go to the first Home screen: Press the Home button. Move an app to another screen: While it s jiggling, drag an app to the side of the screen. Organizing with Folders You can use folders to organize the apps on your Home screens. Rearrange folders-just as you do apps-by dragging them around your Home screens or to the Dock. Create Folder: Touch and hold an app until the Home screen icons begin to jiggle, and then drag an app onto another. ipad creates a new folder that includes the two apps, and names the folder based on the type of apps. To enter a different name, tap the name field. Open a folder: Tap the folder. To close a folder, tap outside the folder or press the Home Button. Gentiva Health Services Page 9.

Organize with Folders: While arranging apps (the icons are jiggling): Add an app to a folder. Drag the app onto the folder. Remove an app from a folder: Open the folder if necessary, then drag the app out. Delete a folder: Move all apps out of the folder. The folder is automatically deleted. Rename a folder: Tap to open the folder, then tap the name and enter a new one. When you finish, press the Home button. Reading mail Flag a message or mark it as unread: Tap while viewing the message list. To mark multiple messages at once, tap Edit Identify messages addressed specifically to you: Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and then turn Show to/cc Label on or off. Messages with your address in the To or Cc field are indicated with an icon in the message list. See all the recipients of a message: Tap the word Details in the From field. Tap a recipient s name or email address to view the recipient s contact information or add them to Contacts. For a web link, you can add it to the reading list. Open a link: Tap the link to use its default action, or touch and hold to see other actions. For example, for an address, you can show its location in Maps or add it to Contacts. For a web link, you can add it to the Reading list. Gentiva Health Services Page 10.

Sending Mail Compose a message: Tap then type a name or email address. After you enter recipients, you can drag to move them between fields, such as from To to Cc. Save a draft of a message: Tap Cancel, then tap Save Draft. Touch and hold saved drafts. to see your Reply to a message: Tap then tap Reply. Files or images attached to the initial message aren t sent back. To include the attachments, forward the message instead of replying. Forward a message: Open a message and tap message s attachments., then tap forward. This also forwards the Send a photo in a message: Tap the insertion point to display the selection buttons, then tap Insert Photo or Video and choose Search messages: Open a mailbox then enter text in the Search field. You can search the From, To or the Subject field in the mailbox that s currently open. Gentiva Health Services Page 11.

Calendar ipad makes it easy to stay on schedule. You can view calendars individually, or several calendars at Once. View or edit an event: Tap the event. You can: Set a primary and secondary alert Change the event s date and time, or duration Move an event to a different calendar You can also move an event by holding it down and dragging it to a new time, or by adjusting the grab points. Add an event: Tap and enter event information, then tap done. Set the default calendar for new events: Go to Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Default Calendar. Set Default alert times for events: Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Default Alert Times. Search for events: Enter text in the search field. The titles, invitees, locations, and notes for the calendars you re viewing are searched. You can also search calendar events from the Home screen. Set the calendar alert tome: Go to Settings>Sounds>Calendar Alerts. Gentiva Health Services Page 12.

Respond to an invitation: Tap an event in the calendar. Or tap to display the Event screen, and then tap an invitation. You can view information about the organizer and other invitees. If you add comments (Which may not be available for all calendars), your comments can be seen by the organizer but not other attendees. Camera On the ipad you can take both still photos and videos. A rectangle briefly appears where the camera is focused and setting the exposure. When you photograph people, ipad uses face detection to automatically focus on and balance the exposure across up to 10 faces. A rectangle appears over each detected face. Take a Photo: Tap or either volume button. To display a grid on the screen, tap Options. Zoom in or out: Pinch the screen Record a video: Switch to then tap or press either volume button to start or stop recording. When you take a photo or start a video recording, ipad makes a shutter sound. You can control the volume with the volume buttons or the Side Switch. Take a screenshot: Press and release the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button same time. The screenshot is added to your Camera Roll album. at the Gentiva Health Services Page 13.

Contacts ipad lets you access and edit your contact list. Add a contact: Tap You cannot add contacts to a directory you re only viewing, such as a Gentiva s Global Address list. Delete a contact: Choose a contact, and then tap Edit. Scroll down and tap Delete Contact. Edit a contact: Choose a contact, and then tap Edit. You can: Add a new field: Tap then coose or enter a label for the field. Change a field label: Tap the label and choose a different one. To add a new field, tap Add Custom Label. Change the ringtone or text tone for the contact: Tap the ringtone or text tone field, then choose a new sound. To change the default tone for contacts, go to Settings>Sounds. Change Contact Settings: Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Gentiva Health Services Page 14.

Notes Create a new Note: Tap Then type your notes on the notepad. Save the Note: To save your newly created Note, tap. Your note will now appear on the left hand side. The first line of your note is the title of the note. Delete a note while viewing the list of notes: Swipe left or right across the note on the list. Search for Notes: While viewing the list of notes, scroll to the top of the list to reveal the search field. Tap in the field and type what you re looking for. Gentiva Health Services Page 15.

Charging the ipad Gentiva supplies each ipad with the following: USB Wall Charger USB Data Cable USB Car Charger Charging the ipad can be done on any Standard electrical outlet or in any car. Charge the ipad from a standard electrical outlet: Parts needed: USB Data Cable USB Wall Charger 1. To charge the ipad plug the USB wall charger in the electrical outlet. 2. Plug the USB data cable into the wall charger (larger of the 2 plugs). 3. Then plug the smaller end of the cable into the ipad. Gentiva Health Services Page 16.

Charge the ipad from Vehicle: Parts needed: USB Data Cable USB Car Charger 1. To charge the ipad plug the USB car charger in the electrical port inside your car. 2. Plug the USB data cable into the car charger (larger of the 2 plugs). 3. Then plug the smaller end of the cable into the ipad. Gentiva Health Services Page 17.
