Appendix B Connex CS Technical System Requirements (Episodic Only - Preconfigured) This option is for Episodic Only customers who wish to install the preconfigured Connex Server and SQL Database provided by Welch Allyn. Technical Requirements for Connex CS Connex CS is a system comprised of Connex CS and connected devices. Connex CS is a medical product consisting of software deployed on Welch Allyn provided computer hardware and/or a Welch Allyn supplied virtual server machine. Connex CS interfaces with Welch Allyn supported vital signs devices to collect, store, review, and provide reports of patient vital signs data. Components of Connex CS may include: Welch Allyn vital signs devices provide frontline monitoring tools to gather patient data and vitals, and support various clinical workflows from spot-check readings to continuous bedside monitoring. Welch Allyn Connex CS Server can support an interface with your HS applications, sharing data via HL7 messaging. The CS Server can also be deployed independently, without Central Stations, to send spot measurements directly to your HS. Welch Allyn Connex CS Kiosk application, running on your PC hardware, provides an additional method to support spot-check workflows. The client-server application supports connecting some non-networked vital signs devices via USB with batch data upload. Welch Allyn Connex CS takes a flexible approach to technology by recognizing the differing network infrastructures and equipment that exist in hospital settings. That s why Welch Allyn Connex CS relies on the standard technology in place in most facilities. Welch Allyn understands that customers collect vital signs in many areas using different workflows from spot-check readings to continuous bedside monitoring. We ve designed the Connex Clinical Surveillance System to work the way you do using the network infrastructure you have in place. Listed in the tables below are the equipment and software that may be required to use Welch Allyn Connex CS. Also refer to the Best Practices Guides for additional detail. * For the Connex Server Application Delivery option, installing Connex software on the customer Operating System and SQL Database, refer to Appendix C. 80018292P Appendix B Connex CS Technical System Requirements (Episodic Only) Page 1 of 9

Network Welch Allyn Connex CS is a flexible solution that allows spot vital signs readings and/or continuous monitoring data to be transferred via a network that supports TCP/P version 4. Refer to the Best Practices Guides for additional detail. Standard communication for wired vital sign devices (10base-T, auto-negotiate). DHCP assigned P address for all vital sign devices Static assigned P addresses for all central station and server hardware. Vitals sign devices with wireless workflows require the use of a WLAN for communication with Connex CS. Welch Allyn s vital signs devices support running on a wireless network from a number of vendors including: o Aruba (Also sold as Dell Power Connect W and Alcatel) o Cisco o Meru o Juniper (Trapeze) o Motorola (Also sold as Extreme and Brocade) o HP (Also sold as Colubris) o Visit www.welchallyn.com/networkbestpractices for more information about wireless requirements. nternet access is required for remote support, device upgrades and licensing. Remote desktop support is provided via TeamViewer. The Connex CS Server software is considered a closed system; therefore any modification to the OS is not supported. Unsupported changes include but are not limited to; joining a Microsoft Windows Domain, installing new Windows Updates, and modification to or replacement of the supplied anti-virus solution. f desired, Connex CS application can be run in a network across separate VLANs. Patient Monitor Device to System Communication Welch Allyn Connex CS uses your network to communicate with patient monitor devices; a number of different methods for most device clients to locate a server are supported. Patient Monitor Device communication options may vary by devices type. DNS Name support at device DHCP Option 43/60 support at device Static P support from the device to the Server Native Server Software: Server (Hardware or Virtual) OS: Windows 2008 Server R2 Standard x64 SP1 (English) Database: SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard SP2.NET: Microsoft.NET Framework 4.5 Antivirus: McAfee Application Control 6.1.3 Remote desktop: TeamViewer version 7 Welch Allyn Partner Connect Language packs: French, German, Dutch & Spanish Connex CS Application: Welch Allyn Connex 1.X Connex ProView 1.1 Virtual Connex Server Virtual Connex Server can be used as the Server component of a Connex Clinical Surveillance System with Central Station(s) or independently (without Central Station) for data transfer with an existing EMR. Listed below are the equipment and software licenses that may be required to use Welch Allyn Virtual Connex Server. The Virtual Connex Server virtual disk is preconfigured by Welch Allyn and includes the licensed Operating System, Database, Antivirus, and the Connex application. Only Static P addresses may be assigned to the Server. The customers host environment must be compatible with the version that the virtual machine files were created on. The Supplied Welch Allyn virtual disk has the following specifications. The customers environment is required to support the virtual disk according to these specifications. The WA supplied virtual disk: o Was created in VMWare ESXi 5.5 Platform. o s in the VMDK format. o Has a Fixed Hard Disk space of 100GB o Has 8GB RAM Allocation o CPU: 3.1GHz, Quad Core o Was compressed on delivery using Windows 7 compression o The Supplied Welch Allyn virtual image will be provided via USB media Connex CS Licensing Welch Allyn provides the following licenses as part of a standard order. These licenses are installed in manufacturing while the system is configured. Windows 2008 Emb Server R2 Standard x64 SP1 license SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard OEM Server/CAL License (5 CALs) McAfee Application Control license (Never needs software updates or license renewal) Connex CS licenses (dependent on features purchase) 80018292P Appendix B Connex CS Technical System Requirements (Episodic Only) Page 3 of 9

Database and Licensing Note: The SQL instance for the Connex CS Server cannot exist on a server farm or remote instance. Because the system is considered closed, the instance is required to remain local on the CS server. Standard SQL licensing: The Connex CS Server uses Microsoft s Server/CAL Model for SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard. Welch Allyn will supply the CAL license for the Server. Customers are responsible to maintain a CAL for each additional device connection. A CAL is not software; it is a legal document granting access. SQL Server CALs can also be used against any SQL Server regardless of the platform (32 bit, 64 bit, and A64) or edition (Workgroups, Standard, and Enterprise). The Server/CAL model is appropriate when: You can count your users/devices The number of users/devices is low enough that the cost is lower than using the Per Processor model Recommended SQL licensing: f you have a concern about not having enough SQL CALs (Client Access License) or would like to purchase a solution that allows unlimited numbers of devices to connect to the SQL server, customers can purchase (through Welch Allyn) a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard OEM Server license by processor: Optional Per Processor Model (Additional fees apply) NOTE: Welch Allyn will supply the purchased OEM license for this option, the system will not accept a license key of any other type, therefore a customer supplied SQL license is not an option. The Per Processor model may be appropriate when: You cannot or do not want to count users/devices The number of users/devices is high enough that the Per Processor model is more cost-effective than the Server/CAL model Per Processor licensing model may help alleviate complexity. When licensing SQL Server software under the Per Processor model, you do not need to purchase additional CALs; it includes access for an unlimited number of users or devices to connect. While Per Processor Licenses for SQL Server 2008 R2 are available for Datacenter, Enterprise, Standard, Workgroup, and Web editions, Welch Allyn has chosen to use SQL Standard edition with Connex CS. Alarm nterfaces Welch Allyn Connex CS uses standards-based interoperability. Connex CS leverages HE PCD ACM interface. This interface is an industry standard managed by ntegrating the Healthcare Enterprise (HE) nternational, ncorporated (http://www.ihe.net/). Please refer to your alarm management vendor to determine whether & how they support the ACM standard as well as how to install and configure their system to receive messages using that interface. ACM Standard ACM PCD-04 Alarm Report message HL7 Message Standard HL7 Version 2.5 message. (Subject to updates) Alarm Message Type PCD-04 message Message Type ORU^R40 Power Your facility is responsible to provide reliable power, including emergency backup, to Connex CS. Connex CS will only work with a reliable power source. Welch Allyn strongly recommends that Connex CS hardware be installed with a redundant power source, such as an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) or equivalent. For each Server: o Plan for a maximum load of 500 watts. 80018292P Appendix B Connex CS Technical System Requirements (Episodic Only) Page 4 of 9

HS nterfaces Welch Allyn Connex CS uses standards-based interoperability. Connex CS leverages HL7 messaging to support sharing patients vital signs and other data with your HS and to import patient demographics from your ADT system. Refer to the Connex CS HL7 nterface Guide and Conformance Statement (80018284) for additional details. Kiosk Workstation Welch Allyn Connex CS Kiosk is a client-server application, which can be used to support batch upload in a spotcheck workflow with some legacy devices that can only connect via USB. Connex CS Kiosk application does not support a continuous monitoring workflow. Operating System Compatibility: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 Recommended minimum hardware specifications: Dual-core Pentium 2GHz, 2GB memory, 40GB of free disk space, or wireless network connection to the Server One available USB port (minimum) 1024x768 graphics adapter with color screen. Connex ProView Welch Allyn Connex ProView allows the user to review data actively being processed by the Welch Allyn Connex CS system for the purpose of troubleshooting issues with data processing. The software is pre-installed on the CS Server by default; however ProView may also be installed on another PC on the same network to view Connex data. The host PC requirements listed below. For more Detail on ProView refer to the Connex CS Admin Guide. Operating System Compatibility: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 Recommended minimum hardware specifications: Dual-core Pentium 2GHz, 4GB memory, 5GB of free disk space, or wireless network connection to the Server 1024x768 graphics adapter with color screen.
